Dinner time’s over for Pauline

A dinner lady who has been serving up meals for children at a Sedgley primary school for more than 20 years is hanging up her ladle.

Pauline Lindsey, who has been keeping youngsters at Cotwall End Primary School fed and watered since 1985, is retiring after 22-and-a-half years in the canteen.

Mrs Lindsey started working part-time at the school after giving up her full-time job as a sewing machinist at Newey’s in Tipton. The 60-year-old, who lives in Sedgley with her husband, is now looking forward to seeing the world - starting with a month’s holiday Down Under.

“My husband retires in May and we’ve promised ourselves a long break in Australia,” she said.

“I feel sad to be leaving after all these years, but there’s so much I want to do

“I’ll miss the company and the friendships and being with the children every day - they really are lovely to work with and come out with some funny little sayings.

“I’ve loved my time at Cotwall End, it’s a lovely little school.”
