Wolves signing has ‘won lottery’

emp-256059322.jpgWolves new boy George Elokobi today said he feels like he’s “won the lottery” after securing a dream move to Molineux.

Elokobi put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half year contract with Wolves on transfer deadline day as Mick McCarthy put the finishing touches to the squad that he hopes will lead the club into the top flight.

The Wolves boss hailed Elokobi as “one for the future” yesterday and the Cameroon left-back says he is looking to make big strides at Molineux.

The Colchester defender, 22 yesterday, was the fourth signing of the transfer window after McCarthy moved for Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, Dave Edwards and Kevin Kyle.

And he can’t wait to join his new team-mates for training for the first time on Monday.

“I’m absolutely delighted – it’s a great move for me. It feels like I’ve won the lottery,” he said.

“I feel like I’m the happiest man on the planet right now to be playing for Wolves and I hope I can repay the faith that the manager has shown in me.

“Everything about Wolves says it is a Premiership club and I just hope I can play a part in getting them there now.

“It is a great club and Mick McCarthy is a great manager too, so it feels like the perfect move for me.”

Elokobi was due to watch Wolves’ Championship at Watford today, and, with his new team on a good run of form he is prepared to wait for his chance.

But, when he does get the opportunity, he has pledged to make the most of it.

“It is a club that respects players who work hard and put everything into their performances on the pitch and that is something that I do every time I play.

“I will be playing and training with good players every day and I’m hoping to get my career on track at Wolves. It is a big stage but I’m confident that I can rise to the challenge.”

Fair play to the lad I suppose, seems to want to play for the club, but I think he will be judged by his performances on the pitch. Haven’t heard much about him, all I know is that he is lightining quick, which is what we need at the back, he has to better than N.Collins though because no offense to the lad if he isnt he might as well pack his bad now.

    Up the wolves

All the right noises, so far. I wish him well. I like the attitude he has shown so far in interviews and I’m confident that when his chance comes he’ll take it. Welcome, George.

Heres hoping that he turns out to be as good as Foley at right back! With those two snuffing out opposition wingers then getting back down the line to help attack we could cause teams alot of problems

WElcome to Wolves George but no need to overdo the platitudes we all know that players say the right things when signing for a new club to try and impress everyone but just “great to be here” would have been enough”!
What YOU do have to do though is prove that you have the makings of a class full back who can complement the team, give 100%commitment and wear the shirt with pride. Do that and you will become a big favourite.

Well his attitude to coming to the club is spot on.Although I havn’t heard much about him, I have heard that he is very quick, which is what what is needed at the back. Just need to see him perform on the pitch now before we can give any fair opinion of the lad. He is still young, and in keeping with the trend that MM is using. So welcome George to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

it’s not relevant to this story but the headline on the sports page of my paper today was “Ferguson tells Rooney to stop running about and score more”.
“Wayne worked too hard on Wednesday. He didn’t need to expend so much energy dropping back all the time” said Ferguson. This doesn’t seem very good management to me. He should be praising Wayne for putting in a shift and being different class.

To all the Boo-boys, please read the above & take note.If he doesn’t fit in right away, just give him time, be patient & give him the chance he obviously deserves.

Thought he really had won the lottery when I saw the headline lol. Wonder if he’d still play if he had? actually I wonder which of our players would or wouldn’t continue had they won say £20 million? I’d like to think all of them, but in this day and age, i doubt it

The only logical way to spend a lottery win is to buy out muppet mick’s contract and give us some hope for the future - what a complete plank he is!

Sorry son but we are not Premiership but a side of mediocrity wallowing in self pity (A deluded sleeping Giant). However you will probably feel you have won the lottery after you have completed your weekly training and received your large salary. The rest of the time you will either spend on the bench or playing your game boy, just like many lottery millionaires

BANG! There goes that bubble; now you lot can get back to whinging, Mack out, Mack out! Did you really think you could close the ever-increasing gulf of class between you and the mighty top scoring, free flow passing baggies?? No? Thought not! Boing Boing! We are walking this league. Remember pre-season, when you lot were saying Albion would struggle without badge kissing superstars? How silly do you feel now, we have Class players, sought out by world-class super Thommo! Oh how silly do you feel…Boing boing, I rest my case!
