Promotion-chasing Evesham went away from Noose Lane with the points but Willenhall will be wondering how as they played the better football but often failed to test the goalkeeper.

Hay was the architect for Evesham’s opener. He surged forward to the edge of the area before crossing for the unmarked Mark Owen, who simply tapped into an empty net.

Willenhall could have been level less than 60 seconds later but Gregg’s curling effort went wide.

Evesham made the game safe after 67 minutes. Marlon Walters making a rare mistake by gifting the ball to Hay, who made no mistake from 15 yards out.
