Stourbridge 0 Rushall 1

goal.jpgA 26th minute penalty from Richard Beale proved enough to earn Rushall three vital points while sending Stourbridge crashing to a third successive league defeat.

The home side started positively to make much of the early running.

In the ninth minute, a goal-kick from Lewis Solly was headed on by debutant Ryan Broadhurst for Sam Rock to hit a shot from the right-hand side of the box that visiting keeper Tony Breeden blocked with his legs.

Three minutes later, Kyle Hadley had the Pics on the backfoot, bursting forward before slipping the ball into the path of Leon Broadhurst but he fired wide of the target.

Against the run of play, the home side found themselves trailing.

As Lee Gough delivered in a cross from the right, Neil Barnfield was upended by home defender Nathan Bennett to win a penalty that Beale confidentally despatched past Solly.

After that, the game took on a different complexion with the visitors growing in confidence and tightening up at the back, while the Glassboys lost their early sparkle and grew more anxious as the game progressed.

Stourbridge pushed hard in the last 10 minutes or so, Dyson going closest to an equaliser on 88 minutes.
