On Saturday Greenhill recorded a much needed win in Mid Com Div 2 coming out 2-1 on top at Feckenham Reserves.
After last week’s defeat manager Steve Newton rang the changes bringing in 18 year old debutant Chris Whittaker and Grant Griffiths and Dominic Horton, returning after long injuries.
In a tight first half both teams had a good chance each but the score remained goalless at halftime, with GFC keeper Mark Whitehouse making a great save after a Feckenham effort.
After the break Greenhill pushed forward more and Darren Smith twice came close with powerful drives before Dean Palmer hit the bar with a long range curling shot.
But it was Feckenham that broke the deadlock on 75 mins and GFC defender Richard Bell was dismissed for dissent following the goal.
But ten man Greenhill equalised soon after through Lee Baker’s drilled shot from a wide angle.
With eight minutes to go top scorer Adam Wooldridge hit the winner with his 9th goal of the season.
Greenhill face Chelmsley on Tuesday night in the ¼ final of the Challenge Vase and if they win they travel to Feckenham again next Sat for the 1st leg of the semi-final - if they lose they travel to Enville in the league.
