On a cold and damp morning Ashmore inn went to apply their trade at East Park where the cheesemen visited Alumwell fc it was once again a fine crowd that came to see the Ash and it was fair play to the Ashmoreians who stud in the freezing cold to cheer the lads on.
The game was played at a high tempo from the start with the Ash having all the early play with some nice play and got their reword in 15th min when Cooke played the ball to Dale Cooper he played the to Rogers who played in Mincher he went down the line and put in a cross for Mark Cooper to head home.
The game became a bit scrappy as the home side played the long ball game. The Ashmore defence coped well with outstanding defensive display by Brannon who was in full control at the back.
Then a long ball from Brannon put Rogers in on goal his shot was only parried by the home sides keeper and in came Mincher to tap in the rebound.
Half time came and went Manager Padir told his team to play the easy way and play the simple ball by playing triangles and moving off the ball.
This seemed to work as the Ashmore looked a lot better working and moving off the ball chance after chance came it was a relentless assault on the Alumwell goal by Rogers Hale Cooper Healey Mincher and Onions all went close and it was Mark Cooper s 80th mins Shot from out side the area that put a brave Alumwell to bed.
After the game manager Padir Brewster said: “Alumwell should change their name to Alamo as at times it was just like that.”
He went on to say Alumwell never gave up and battled to the end far play to them a lot of other teams would have folded.
Padir went on to say that the supporters of the peoples club are very loyal to this club and heaped praises on them.
