Mick McCarthy has reassured his ever increasing band of Wolves strikers that they all still have a future at the club.
The Molineux men added Kevin Kyle to the mix this week to supplement the seven other senior strikers the club has on his books, but McCarthy insists he will need them all during the run-in.
And that means that a departure for striker Freddy Eastwood is unlikely when the loan market reopens next week.
“Unless we’ve got everybody fit and we’re winning all the time then the team will change,” he said.
“Looking at the games remaining we need to score goals, we need to take our chances and therefore we will need all our strikers.”
“Keogh and Sylvan have been great, Elliott has been playing wide right and Jay came on and contributed to the winner on Tuesday and scored at Watford last week.
“We’ve also got Freddy who has been unfortunate because he’s been injured but competition is healthy.”
McCarthy feels that Kyle will offer him a different option for the rest of the season.
He sees the former Sunderland man as an “impact” player coming off the bench to offer them another dimension.
“Having Kevin here will be a huge help. Certain players respond to different managers but it worked well for us at Sunderland.
“Hopefully we can replicate it here. We’ve got a few strikers now but none like him.
“We’re not the kind of team who just bang balls in the box – we’re better than that – but there are times when even the best teams in the world are desperate for a goal,” he said.
“I’ve played against and managed against some of the best in the world and if you’ve got ten minutes to go and need a goal what do teams do?
“They knock the ball into the box and see if the opposition make a mistake.”

Now we know why we didn’t need a creative midfielder !
Fair play Mick. We have strikers in most departments now & that can only be good. Bring on Watford
wolveswolves: I suggest you go back and read again what MM actually said.
Best form of defence is…..
….a solid,reliable and fit back 4
Fair comments 2, 3 and 4 but poster one needs to take some advice and the unnamed journalist needs to ask him/herself why they are stirring up trouble about Eastwood. Where has that one come from? What is your source? And, how about the other forwards? It is patently obvious why WWFC are fed up with the stirring going on by the E and S about problems like Eastwood. Remember the interview? What good was that going to do WWFC? So perhaps a little more balance please Mr. or Mrs. Journo and instead of backing Freddy blindly, how about some objective analysis of his 5 goals in the last 49 Championship games that he has taken part in?!
Not sure what you mean by this Bill, No 5, but, until three matches ago when it changed, didn’t we have the worst attack and the best defence in the Championship? IMO MM is fixing that attack and helping the defence. Well done MM and his team.
1 wolveswolves:
Remind me again, what position does Edwards, that bloke we signed from Luton play?
7 German Wolf:Re Freddy
5 goals in the last 49 Championship games that he has taken part in…
Spot on!
Morgans no fool, his bank balance proves this.
In Kyle, I reckon MM as signed a worthy “Big striker” to cover/compliment the rest of our forwards. He cost us NOTHING & is only on loan!
I think we have every piece of the jigsaw now. If we can get everyone back and fit I cant see where our weakness is now.Lets back Micks decisions and judge him in May. Sheffiled United brought every centreforward there was a few years ago and it did’nt hurt them!
Fair comment from MM, but I still think Bothroyd is surplus to requirements.
I reckon I might be the only one here fairly happy to have signed KK. I think he will give us something a little bit different and, even if he can only play the ’super sub’ role 2 or 3 times in the season, it’ll probably be worth it.
By the way, only 1400 tickets sold of our allocation for the Watford game? Come on lads, they were only a tenner!

I agree but that phrase makes me shudder, reminds me of a certain Frankowski and a muppet called Hoddle lol!
wolveswolves….
you really have got it in for MM haven’t you, no matter what he does is not going to be right in your eyes… try and be a bit more open minded
Im certainly no Mick fan but this is a very welcome press release indeed.
thank you Mick. Now lets give the boy Fred a run out !
Freddy Freddy Freddy Freddy Freddy
MM will need all the strikers:
Bothroyd
Ward
Elliot - as wingers
SEB
Keogh - as strikers
Kyle as an ‘impact’ striker, which is pretty cool as none of his strikers has yet made an impact!
Eastwood to slice the oranges ready for half time!
What on earth has MM and the players got to do for some of you fans.
I really do not know why some of you support the Wolves. Your negativity is beyond me. Some of you would test the patients of a Saint.
Oops sorry! Before you moaning fans pull me up for my spelling. just realised spelt Patients wrong should read patience. Sorry.
Jan - I gave up on them ages ago - and they aint coming in either !

What he has to do to impress me is win promotion and keep us in the Premier league for at least two seasons.
I realize that for some on here winning 3 games in a row is amazing though!
If we had Kevin Keegan in charge he would play them all… All of thee time…lol
12) If you mean I don’t change my mind after every game then you are correct.
Overall this season we have been dreadful and have been lucky that most other teams in this league have been no better.
This means that we are still in touch with the top.
We have bought some promising players like we did previously ( I remember everyone ranting about Eastwood in the summer.)
So far Mick hasn’t been able to put a consistent team out despite this and has consistently made some simply strange comments and team selections.
Things have picked up the last couple of matches but excuse me for not getting carried away.
I’ve seen it before and within weeks I’m expecting us to be shown up again once we play someone decent.
Nice one St Peter. No don’t you let them in you will have a constant headache.
there’s a spare seat in the stand next to me fi they don’t like the bench! that’s unless they get nice and close and friendly with MM

Like I said patience
wot the hell is the team gona be, will eastwood when fit even be on the bench? i cnt understand y we MM is using strikers as wingers i.e ward n elliot, when he cuda jus brought a winger but if it works then will be all gud!
17. Brilliant. It’s posts like yours that make these sites worth reading.
8. Kent Wolf - Games that Freddie has started is unfair on Freddie. He has had limited minutes on the pitch and was wrongly dropped after banging them in willy nilly. That said I am surprised that he is still here, very surprised. But, I am happy with what we’ve got up front and the different type of strikers we now possess. Shame we cannot fullfill all the skills into fewer personel though.
Jan rhodes, everyone is entitled to their opinions and you should debate issues not tell folk to clear off if you do not like what they post on here
It is a fans forum and all opinions are welcome pro Mick anti Mick whatever. Everyone wants to choose there own team and has there own favourites so don’t knock other peoples opinions. Feel sorry for your partner if he says anything outta place. Does he get sent to the dungeon?
If you were a Wolves striker and MM tried to reassure you would you belive him?
MM has only bought in 9 strikers so far in eighteen months so of course you would believe him and santa and the tooth fairy
Bullshine some managers wouldnt spot a good striker if Alan Shearer kicked thier Aspidestra
Let alone 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1
Aaaaaaaaarrrrggghhh!
