Shocked about Dann, Bonser what were you playing at?

Expect to see a dip in attendances, because that’s all you care about… money.

    Open letter to Jeff Bonser

    JEFF BONSER YOUR A DISGRACE!!!!

We are 4th in League 1, the chance of championship football is on the horizon and whilst our rivals strenghten during the window- you decide to rip up the back four for undisclosed fee’s!

Why dont you be man enough to tell the fans how much you really got for these two and how these funds will be used to get a great pension rather than build a better squad!!

Bonser you said that you want to sell the club before 2010, do us a favour and sell it before next season.

You wont get another season ticket out of me.

  4. Matt said:

Dann is a big loss, with no obvious quality back up; Roper not good enough and Manny Smith too inexperienced. Cant see how we won’t leak goals with a lot of difficult away games to come.

IT IS A DISGRACE THAT WE SOLD DANN. WE ARE A SMALL CLUB AND GETTING SMALLER IF I WAS DD I WOULD QUIT. IN PROTEST I AM STAYING AWAY I AM NOT PUTTING ANY MORE MONEY IN A CLUB WITH NO AMBITION AND I HAVE SUPPORTED THE SADDLERS FOR 45 YEARS I HAVE HAD ENOUGH. THAT IS WHY I AM STAYING AWAY DD NO AMBITION.
    VERY UNHAPPY SADDLER.

Strikes me as again of lack of a
ambition a very similar senario when we were 10th in the Championship and Colin lee wanted to invest in the Squad but Bonser failed to deliver.
I think we are still in the small club mindset and the sooner we get a chairman who can take the club to the next step the better.

Bonser hurry up and sell the club, before you sell all our players you muppett

Totally appalling. We’ve ended up with a smaller & weaker squad than we started the transfer window with - and this is whilst we’re in the playoffs!

I dread to think what might have happened had we been in a relagation fight!

It’s typical Walsall, never ever spend any more to make the fans happy, and thats why so little turn up.

This is THE reason Walsall lack support.BONSER IS A JOKE.On the same day Alex Nichols signs an extension and Dosh states the clubs ambition they sell a young vital part of the team in Scotty Dann plus the fact Ricketts has gone replacement(s) K Betsy.Sorry but my club is always going to be a joke until Bonser and his people sell up and get out of town

  10. mark said:

Complete lack of ambition yet again, gutted over dann, fair play if we got stupid money, but again were not told how much. This is another one off the attendance im not giving bonser anymore of my money.

Living in Anglesey so not been to see them this season , but have been listening out every match. £200,000 in the bank now they would have got that next season if they had gone up just by playing Wolves,Stoke and Coventry what a disgrace

  12. Chris said:

The truth of the matter is Jeff doesn’t want Championship football, he may bang on about establishing ourselves in the Championship, but he knows that it costs the club, nee HIM, too much.

I guess the fees for Dann and Fox will cover the next two years of pension fund payment, because obviously not one penny is going into the playing squad!

I wonder if the demise of ITV Digital will be to blame yet again?!

  13. RealisticSaddler said:

And of course, Richard Money has had no say in this AT ALL has he?!?

Both he and the chairman have said all along that the club would not sell unless ridiculous offers came along….therefore we have to presume that’s what has happened.

We’re a small club and youngsters will want to move on and up. Our club has to get the best deal it can in those circumstances. Wait for the loan market to open and see if we sign someone to cover.

  14. matt said:

Come on, be brave - let us know what the ridiculous offer was. If it was any less the £750,000 then you should be ashamed!!!

  15. pete said:

RealisticSaddler… Yes let go for the short term solution… loan players. That the answer to the problems… NOT

Bonser your are the biggest waste of space in the football league.
And DD you should be shoot for letting it happen.

The club have fell to an all time low in my opinion. No sure if i’ll be going to another match this season. If im honest im not interested anymore, i’ve got better things to be doing and im supporter of 25 years and a season ticket holder! I certainly wont be renewing my season ticket next season that is for sure.

And if Dickie Dosh or the fat man upstairs wants to know why attendances are poor then i will give them the answer - because people dont care anymore and dont like being robbed of hard earned cash.

I was going to Carlise on Saturday. Not any more thank you. Walsall fans deserve better!

  17. Hawkins1331 said:

    All has been said !

The PR people at Walsall are an utter joke. One of our brightest talents has left at the 11th hour and they post an undisclosed fee. Do they not think that it will come as quite a shock & disgrace to the fans, especially when the fans wont even know how much he went for !!

Walsall FC - you are a laughing stock to football. Great commercial brains, but when it comes to running the football side of the business - Bonser’s Board haven’t got a clue. Undisclosed fee - you make me laugh and I am ashamed to be a Saddler to today.

My three year old pleads with me every Saturday to come to the games, and I have a good mind to take him to the Albion or the Villa.

Mr Money, if you agreed to the sale of our best young prospect for years when “We don’t need to sell” then you’re not the principled man I took you for. If you didn’t, then go. Bonser wants markets, massive signs and medeocrity not promotion.Who cares about match attendances when Joe Longthorne sells out at £30 a head. I thought Merson was your biggest joke but you’ve outdone yourself now.

  19. Tony said:

upset at sale of Scott Dan, upset and clubs policy of not disclosing fee, fed up at Money always moaning about fans. It hurts to be a Walsall fan.

  20. aidypoo said:

Richard Money”We are not in a position where we have to sell our best players”.Scott Dann was aguably our best player. So what changed?? Will we ever really know? How does Money feel about this in light of of his remarks?

  21. Cam Saddler said:

I travel home and away including Carlisle tomorrow from the cotswolds. DD must be under the same Bonser pressure as Merson was with Matt Fryatt, sell him for an undisclosed fee ,theres always another loan around the corner. THIS IS BONSERS MENTALITY if you cant get it through the turnstile ( remember DDs comments after the Orient game?)then sell your best players to make up the shortfall, and get no one in, the sooner Bonser sells up the better!

  22. R J Metcalf said:

Who needs Championship football when Joe Longthorne sells out at £30 a head? Bonser wants markets, massive signs and medeocrity.Mind you, it’s all the fans fault anyway.Right then, I’m off to swap my season ticket for a Coventry one as that’s where all our best young prospects are.

  23. Wfcdanoc said:

I’m not gonna go down the Blame Bonser alley, but the simple fact of that matter is, regardless of what was said about “not needing to sell our best player, we are sitting 4th in the league, and ALL of the top 6 in League 1 have STRENGTHENED there squads, or at the very least, held on to there players!

Walsall have shedded talent in the transfer window, and haven’t replaced it, needless to say we won’t be 4th for much longer and the empty seats that Money & Bonser are upset to be seeing at the Banks’s Staduim will remain empty for the foreseeable future.

    No Ambition at all Saddlers!

  24. RealisticSaddler said:

And so now Mr Money tells us the real situation….and you all look a bit stupid.

As I said before, neither Bonser or Mr Money would have sold us short on this one. The true story is now apparent, Dann got wind of the Coventry offer and said he wanted out. Then he refused to even come back on loan, as had been agreed.

Mr Money says Coventry met our valuation. I trust him and Bonser not to under-sell.

So in fact neither Money or Bonser is at fault here and we should perhaps be calling into question the integrity of both the player and possibly the club he’s going to.

funny how his mate had just signed read into it what you want hope coventry get relegated and them 2 money grabbing traitors have a crap season

  26. stefano123 said:

well said realisiic i think again as wiht Fox, the player forgot the reason for his success, which Walsall provided, and the fans use the easy, knee jerk, excuse of BONSER out!

By no means is Bonser the best chairman in the world but i could think of far worse… Look what Leeds ambition did for them…

Agereed we need to take a few more risks but if the players arent available then what can they do?

I think you’re a bit off target mate. The integrity of the player and team he’s going to can be whatever they are, but Money and Bonser managed Walsall into this situation. Even if it’s as you describe, it means that Walsall have been played for fools at an incredibly important point in the season. And how can you not look to management in this case? This is an epic let down and hoodwinked or not, management allowed it to happen.

  28. RealisticSaddler said:

    Canuck….come one!!

Here’s a scenario. Player 1 has left to join another club. His new club says they’d like to sign Player 2 as well, could Player 1 call him and see what he thinks. Player 2 loves the idea, so this club puts in an offer, which is rejected. Player 1 phones Player 2 to tell him this…at which point Player 2 goes in to see the manager and tells him he doesn’t want to play for the team anymore, he wants the transfer.

What else do you expect the manager and chairman of his current club to do? Stick him in the reserves and watch his value go down? Try and force him to stay and watch his performances worsen and his value go down?

A purely fictional scenario of course ;-)

Mr Money and Bonser seem to have had no choice here and have no doubt negotiated the best deal they can in an awkward situation. The manager even got a deal that the player would come back to us long enough for us to sign loan cover….and then the player goes back on that as well.

NOT GOOD ENOUGH!! MONEY AND BONSER OUT!!! NO AMBITION!! DUH!!!!!

BONSER WHATS GOING ON NO AMBITION AND KNOW NO HOPE OF GOING UP MY SON HAS JUST STARTED TO WATCH WALSALL AND WHO DO THINK IS FAVORITE PLAYER IS ? THE LAD IS GUTTED AND SO AM I

  30. IMSTILLHOPING said:

Well perhaps Mr Money now understands why crowds are so low. Similar situations have happened regularly in the 50 years that i have supported the club with my hard earned cash. The club will never progress under Bonser. They dont deserve the fans that they have.

  31. RawnsleySaddler said:

Seems the situation is not as black and white as it seems…Modern footballers have no loyalty and the prospect of fat signing on fee’s(50k+) and contracts, turned the young scousers heads.Walsall’s young talent will always be rich pickings for the bigger boys. The problem I have is the fact that with the cash coming in we didn’t
move to strengthen the team.A hundred grand or so can buy you a proven player at this level and would have sent out a positive message.Even securing Ricketts would have softened the blow!Regardless of what DD says, they must have potential targets that would improve the team.If Peterborough(lower attendances)can splash can splash out 350k on a bloody goalkeeper than surely we could consider breaking our transfer record of 175k for a certain Mr Alan Buckley in the late seventies!!!!!

  32. Sadsfan said:

Maybe the E&S can get the full story from Bonser about selling the club. I.E. What is the price to buy the club? Is it to be sold piecemeal, as in the club (players, name & staff etc) and then the ground as a separate entity. If Bonser wants the fans to believe what he says he should take the opportunity to be transparent with us as to how he is offering the club for sale.
