Transfer deadline day latest

Aston Villa target Jermain Defoe

It’s deadline day and we will be bringing you updates of all the activity involving Villa, Blues, Wolves, Albion and Walsall all the way to midnight plus the best of the national deals being done.

00.30: It’s time for Expressandstar.com to call it a night. Thanks for sticking with us. Wolves fans seem fairly happy, Albion are loving Miller’s arrival in particular, not much for Villa or Blues fans at this point. And Walsall fans are fuming at the departure of Dann to join Fox at Coventry. Keep the comments coming.

00.20: After silence, a DEAL! Albion have beaten the transfer deadline to wrap up the loan signing of Do-Heon Kim. See also: Do-Heon Kim signs for West Brom

00.00: The window officially closes. Don’t go anywhere. Expect details of all late transfers to filter through

23.56: DEAL Walsall defender Scott Dann has followed Daniel Fox in signing for Coventry City before the close of the transfer window. See also: Dann leaves Walsall for Coventry

23.49: We’re about to go into the last 10 minutes. Nearly there. Who is going to move and who is playing for the whistle?

23.35: Not long to go. Will Defoe go to Portsmouth or can Villa snatch him away? Wolves say they’re done. What about the missing Albion signing? And will Blues land anyone before business closes? Surely Walsall have not got a surprise to spring on us?

23.30: DEAL West Brom have agreed the transfer of Graham Dorrans at the end of the current season, according to the striker’s club Livingston.

See also: Albion land ’striker Dorrans’

23.11: The Elokobi deal is confirmed by Wolves. Floydy says: “According to Livingston’s website - Albion have signed Dorrans on a pre-contract. He will spend the rest of the season at Livingston and join the Baggies in the Summer.”

23.01: Less than an hour to go. Who will sign and who will be disappointed? Keep those comments coming! Tell us where you are in the world - will we get some last minute surprises?

22.59: DEAL - George Elokobi has signed, according to reports. See also: Wolves ‘land defender Elokobi’

22.37: A few of you are saying there are reports that Colchester United left-back George Elokobi has signed for Wolves. We’ll get some confirmation asap.

22.30: Quick Blues round-up.

NO DEAL The loan signing of Georgian international midfielder Levan Tskitishvili from Greek side Panionios is off after the 31-year-old was refused a work permit.

DEAL Defender Krystian Pearce has joined Port Vale on loan for one month. Keeper Artur Krysiak has joined Scottish Premier League side Gretna on loan for the rest of the season.

22.20
: Payney_WBA asks: “What’s going on with Kim Do heon?”

22.15: Is it just us, or is it very quiet at Birmingham City? You might have expected Alex McLeish to be wheeling and dealing to try and guarantee Premier League football next season. Anyone got any gossip?

22.10: Reader Greg Cooper is not a quitter. He says: “So surely with Clapham AND Mulgrew out the Elokobi signing must be a done deal?! No news as yet but I had a feeling it might be a late one tonight!!… also have a sneaking suspicion that there may be another incoming deal that will surprise us all!!!” That’s the spirit, Greg.

21.55: It’s gone quiet again.

NO DEAL: Brad Guzan won’t be joining Villa from Chivas USA as the keeper was unable to get a work permit. Martin O’Neill is “very disappointed”.

21.37: DEAL: Charlie Mulgrew leaves Wolves for League One’s Southend United on loan for the rest of the season. Mulgrew made seven appearances last season after joining from Celtic as part of the Lee Naylor deal. He has played under Mick McCarthy twice this term, both times in the Carling Cup. Thanks to kernow wolf for flagging up that one.

21.36: No word on Defoe yet, which means it’s not over for Villa just yet. Spurs fans will be wondering who is lined up to replace him. The smart money says he’s going nowhere and will wind down his contract.

21.35: Steve Madeley reports: “The Miller fee is £900,000 initially. Add-ons could take it to £1.4m.”

21.05: Satire time. Sneaky Eavesdropper says: “Steve Bull has just been seen going into Molineux, its rumoured that Mr.Morgan has finally authorised the TOP SECRET:Eyes Only- 6 MILLION DOLLAR PROJECT. It involved Bully undergoing a operation to make his knees bionic. Sources say they dont know whether the 6 million dollar man music will play as Bully moves” It’s the way you tell ‘em.

21.02: Man City are claiming the fee for Ishmael Miller will rise to £1.5m. Albion fans will not worry if his goals power them to the Premier League.

20.55: The last hour has been a bit quiet. Anyone got any gossip? Anyone else baffled as to how Charlton got Sunderland to pay £4m for Andy Reid?

19.55: Alright. Some proper news, courtesy of our reporter Steve Madeley. His mobile phone has been burning up with news from West Brom so he we go.

DEAL: It’s the news Albion fans were hoping for. Ishmael Miller joins permanently from Manchester City on a three and a half year deal for an undisclosed sum. “There is the option of an extra year in the club’s favour,” says Steve.

DEAL: Big Czech goalkeeper Michal Danek joins Albion from Viktoria Plzen. It is for an initial six month loan, with a view to a further six month loan, reports Steve.

Good work! But will there be more from The Hawthorns? Your thoughts, Albion fans, please. Stay tuned….

1910: Oldham terminate Michael Ricketts’s contract. Ouch. For news on Jermain Defoe, Jamie Clapham and er Neil Diamond scroll down.

19.00: Wolves youngster Matt Bailey joins Kidderminster on a month’s loan. If it goes well, there’s the option of staying until the end of the season. Apologies for the break. If there was anything exciting to report, we would have told you. Stick with us!

17.32: It’s gone quiet again after the Defoe excitement. jameswolves says: “My mate just text me saying liam rosenior is on the train to manchester via wolverhampton.” Can anyone back up this one?

17.09: Sneaky Eavesdropper says: “I’ve just seen Justin Hoyte from Arsenal outside the Compton training ground.” Nice “spot”. Hoyte and his fellow defenders had a ‘mare during the 5-1 drubbing to Spurs but Monsieur Wenger has been playing down the possibility of parting with any of his players during the window.

16.42: DEAL: Wolves left back Clapham has had his contract terminated and has joined Leicester until the end of the season.

DEAL” Wolves full back Elliott Bennett joins Bury on loan for a month.

See also: Late changes for Wolves

16.37: K Green says: “I have just seen Elokobi just entering Compton training ground.” Keep those sightings coming in. There’s a long way to go til midnight.

16.26: Some genuine news in. Portsmouth and Tottenham have agreed a fee to take Jermain Defoe to Fratton Park. Will Harry Redknapp become the latest manager to publicly back Defoe, then leave him to squirm on the bench week in, week out?

Or will Villa be able to drive a wedge into the move and bring him to Villa Park, where he can sit on the bench for no apparent reason?

15.59: It’s all gone a bit quiet so here’s the latest big move news - Neil Diamond is going to Glastonbury.

Summer festival manager Michael Eavis has snapped up the 67-year-old New Yorker to shore up his Sunday night slot. Expect Sweet Caroline to roll round the hills of Somerset this June.

Will Eavis announce the expected signing of rapper Jay-Z before midnight tonight? It would liven up a pretty dull window final day if he did.

15.18: Albion fans are delighted so far at Miller’s capture. AMS said: “Brilliant. There’s a lot of promise in him, and with KP around to learn from he can develop into a real talent.”

14.59: Wolves are set to lose a few fringe players. One of those could be Jamie Clapham who is talking to Leicester.

14.45: Albion are trying to tie up a permanent deal for Ishmael Miller. See our story

13.50: Former Albion striker Geoff Horsfield has joined Scunthorpe on loan from Sheffield United.

13.13: Sunderland have agreed a deal to sign Andy Reid from Charlton.

12.52: Ol’Gizzle & Blizzle said: “I’ve just seen Robinho in the Halfway House.” I bet he drinks a pint of mild.

12.49: Gary McSheffrey, linked with a move away from Blues, is going nowhere according to Alex McLeish.

12.40: News of a move from Wolves. The Molineux men are closing in on George Elokobi the Colchester United full back. See Wolves closing in on defender

12.14: Kevin-Prince Boateng looks most likely to be Villa’s third signing of the day but O’Neill is one for pulling rabbits out the hat so watch this space.

12.11: Blues look like having a quite deadline day with only Georgian midfielder Levan Tskitishvili likely to arrive.

Alex McLeish said: “I think you’ve got to be careful about bringing in players just for the sake of it.”

12.03: SuperMaths “We could complete 4 signings today:
Kim if his WP comes through (rumours are he didn’t get first app last week);
Danek on loan; Dorrans if we can agree fee in the region of £150k; and Miller for £250k as per terms of his loan (last chance today!)

“Much better than the dross we’ve got rid of!”

It’s set to be a busy day for Baggies fans.

11.40: Approaching halwfway through deadline day lets do a quick recap.

INS: Walsall sign striker Kevin Betsy, Villa get Wayne Routledge.

OUTS: Michael Ricketts leaves Walsall.

PENDING: Michal Danek for Albion. Kim Do-heon and Brad Guzan are waiting for work permits to join Albion and Villa respectively.

11.25: The latest on Albion’s moves for Graeme Dorrans see Albion winger chances recede

11.23: Villa are close to tying up the deal for Brad Guzan today. See Villa waiting on work permit

11.02: NO DEAL Michael Ricketts has left Walsall today. See Striker leaves Walsall

10.50: Wayne Routledge has had his say on moving to Villa. See Villa sign Spurs star

10.39: Sheffield Wednesday are after Hartson, released by the Baggies yesterday.

10.37: DEAL Walsall are set to sign Kevin Betsy on loan from Bristol City until the end of the season.
He plays for the Seychelles believe it or not. Surely the first time Walsall and the Seychelles have got something in common.

For more see Walsall swoop for striker

10.28: SuperKev asks: “Is Ishmael Miller going to sign a permanent deal?”

SuperKev has his doubts and it’s got to be unlikely. It appears Miller wants to sit tight until the end of the season and see who comes in for him.

Our Albion man will be speaking to Tony Mowbray at a press conference at lunchtime so we will have all the latest from The Hawthorns.

10.23: One unlikely deal today is Giles Barnes going from Derby to Newcastle. He has been linked with Villa but it looks like he will remain at Pride Park.

09.58: Villa is likely to be the centre for plenty of activity today but are their fans happy.

David Eagle said: “This transfer window is threatening to be totally underwhelming as far as Martin O’Neill and Aston Villa are concerned.

“Whatever happened to the “world class” signings that were supposedly on their way once upon a time?

“Clearly something is preventing the signing of proven, top-class players to the club; be it less funds available than everyone thought, O’Neill’s conservatism in the market, Villa’s wage structure, or whatever.”

Give us your thoughts on that Villa fans?

09.41: Cynicisim abounds for Walsall fans carl says: “Jeff Bonser on way to Nat West Bank Walsall to deposit funds in high interest account from Daniel Fox sale.”

Our Walsall man Sean Calvert is at the club this morning and we will bring you the latest on any Saddlers deals as soon as we get it.

09.33: Albion are trying to tie up two deals today, which seem to have been going on for an age.

Our Baggies man Steve Madeley says Danek’s advisers claim he has passed his medical and signed last night - but Albion are yet to confirm a deal.

Meanwhile, mystery still surround Kim Do-heon who was due for a work permit hearing in London yesterday. Albion would only say the process was “ongoing”.

09.27: Rowley, wolves said: “I saw a major football star in a chip shop in Tettenhall last night but i am not going to name him because if he doesn’t sign you’d think i’m mad. Only problem is, I could have sworn Elvis was serving him.”

09.20: Our Wolves man Mark Douglas says if there is movement at Molineux it will be a left back coming in or potentially striker movements out. But don’t hold your breath Wolves fans.

09.18: Has anyone not seen John Hartson? Poor chap, released by Albion yesterday and subject to merciless teasing ever since.

mark abraham said: “I saw him at an all you can eat buffet two weeks ago and he was still there last night!”

08.48: We want to hear from you. Share your rumours and gossip with us. Have you seen Ronaldinho on the M6? Or Jermain Defoe in the estate agents?

Tell us what you think of your club’s business this month. Happy or not?

We will share the best comments as part of our updates

08.45: Welcome to deadline day. See out morning round-up of the latest gossip here

MM can choose who he wishes to sign and sell and not to be judged on it untill the end of the season. So lets support him and, his players and decisions.

As for Fox, I don’t think he any better than Daniel Jones, who is a decent player but not brilliant and so wasn’t really worth signing.

Will deadline day bring us the leftback we still need at Molineux? Gray is playing well but is 33 and prone to injury. For me this issue has not been resolved with Dan Jones returning from loan. I rate him highly but he is not a natural left-back stopper. Daniel Fox was overlooked, the Colchester left-back (Elokobi - spelling?) trail has gone cold and Stephen O’Hallaran continues to be linked with several clubs.

As for Kevin Kyle, I say there’s merit in having him to make an impact late on in games when needed. I don’t see him starting matches and it’s only a loan so let’s give him a chance.

There are moves a foot at molinuex to make a last ditch attempt to sign the big toe on Ronaldo’s left foot, if we get it, it’ll be a major coup and rumours are its could start against Watford! The fee is believed to be 8 million with add ons including a foot leg and hips to follow…the final word is down to the sports surgeons, who are confident that they can amputate and refit once we can afford the remaining fee for the rest of the body. The deal to transplant Ronaldo’s footballing brain into the body of Kevin Kyle is, however dead in the water.

That clause will not be applicable yet, as he hasn’t technically signed for them yet. I’ve just seen mrs. biggins and she says she saw her neighbour who had seen a postman who definately saw Elvis discussing with Lord lucan the fact that both had seen a plate of chips that were on the table when Mick had been talking to Morgan about the possibility of buying Ronaldo for 25 pence and a season ticket to Hednesford raceway.

keep the guesses coming lads. they’re a hoot….

freddy eastwood is terrible i dont know why he is at wolves. basically the whole defence is terrible we need good center halfs and goal scoring midfield players.mick thinks buying strikers will give is goals, they need confidence and this will not help when they are changed every week

What u mean better than our other George? I think if you put Seyi in the team that played on tues instead of Henry whose been off form lately… it looks pretty impressive… Seyi has such a good engine and dont see how anyone can critisise him… even tho i agree that he hasnt been as good as he showed last season
