Walsall manager Richard Money has swooped to sign Kevin Betsy on loan until the end of the season.
The 29-year-old forward, who played in the Premier League under Kevin Keagan at Fulham has joined from Bristol City and looks set to replace Michael Ricketts, whose loan has expired.
Betsy has barely featured for the Robins this season and had a spell on loan at Yeovil in October, where he scored once in five league games.
“We’ve signed Kevin Betsy this morning on loan until the end of the season,” Money said.
“He’s on his way up now to sign the forms and he’ll train with us today and he’ll be available for Saturday.
“I’m sure everybody will see it as another exciting development.”

Who?
I see WFC are at again signing one well worn striker Kevin Betsy, and releasing another Michael Rickets on the grounds he wants to see a fit MR before taking it any further. When, I ask did he see a fit Kevin B, should he wonder at the fans not turning up. Football is like any other business to attract customers / supporters you can only do it with a quality product. The price at the turnstiles is not the reason fans dont come to the ground, it is the lack of any real prospects. If by some means WFC got promotion to the championship league, just how long does anyone think they would last with the current policies. Unless this guy is another George Kirby or even Rambo the fans will still have nothing to get excited about. The young players have exceeded all expectations but I fear it wont last or they’ll be sold. In fact I suspect this latest outburst from the club concerning lack of supporters is merely an excuse to start selling this young talent.
frustrated Toby
At least I have heard of Kevin Betsy! I would have liked to have seen us sign Ricketts permanently as he is still a quality player at our level and he seemed to work well with Mooney. I do feel frustrated that the club never “speculates to accumulate” - signing a quality player either on loan, or Bonser-forbid on a permanent transfer, would stimulate a lot on interest and get people coming through the turnstiles. One of the main reasons Walsall fans stay away is the lack of any real ambition at the club. It’s alright balancing the books every season but it ain’t very exciting. A play-off final in May at the New Wembley, on the other hand….!
I must echo what I said under the Ricketts story, typical Bonser not paying up for quality, nothing against this new lad as he may be decent but really!
Perhaps this is why Walsall have no big crowds?
Come on DD stop covering JB’s back!
dicky dosh said jeff bonser is beside himself with the lack of attendance in recent weeks never mind jeff im sure the go ahead of the biggest motorway sign in europe will help those sleepless nights ££££££££££££££££££££££££££££
Re Toby… Now theres a name to set you thinking, George Kirby. What a player he was. If the ball came into the box, his head was on the end of it. I remember him dropping back to centre half when we lost a man through injury in a cup game at Stoke many years ago, Nothing got passed him and we ended up winning 2 - 0 with ten men. Howard Riley and “Sniffer Clarke penalty wasn’t it. Anyone else remember that one. Ahh - memories….
why doesnt everyone just put faith in DD, he got us this far? whats saying betsy wont be a worthy signing? their seems to be a lot of doom and gloom at the moment.
remember where we were a couple of seasons ago. we have come a long way, and even the most heartened walsall fan would have been happy with mid table finish before the season had begun. And now were 4th i agree we need to push on, but lets look at this in the right way.
Kevin Betsy is a quality player
If you had never heard of him then you have not been watching football for the last few years
He was a good Premiership player at Fulham and formed a great partnership with Mooney at Wycombe.
A great deal until the end of the season
We are going up so get behind your manager
He does know what he is doing
We pay what we can afford
Ricketts has been injured for three weeks
Whos to say he woulnt incur further injuries later on in the season!
The walsall squad has shaped up nicely
I am with you all the way SIR Richard Money
Perhaps TWO consecutive promotions will finally shut up his detractors (or is it past their bedtime now?)
JWDavis - now that Dann has been given away to Coventry: do Money and Bonser still know what they’re doing?
