This transfer window is threatening to be totally underwhelming as far as Martin O’Neill and Aston Villa are concerned. Whatever happened to the “world class” signings that were supposedly on their way once upon a time? Clearly something is preventing the signing of proven, top-class players to the club; be it less funds available than everyone thought, O’Neill’s conservatism in the market, Villa’s wage structure, or whatever. If the situation remains the same, it’s hard to envisage the club sustaining its current push for Europe until the end of the season, or making much of an impact next season should Euro qualification actually be secured. Really hope I’m proven wrong!!

The Saddlers signing Ricketts today is an absolute must! We’ve drawn more games than anyone else in the division and a quality striker like Ricketts is the difference turning 1point into 3points!

The kids are doing wonders for us, all we need is that little bit extra experience and the promotion push is well and truely on! Lets get some Depth in that squad.

I only wish we could add some depth in the stands aswell, the teams performances deserve better support at the Banks’s Stadium

Quite a few rumours have gone cold concerning the baggies targets - Dorrens, Whelan, Taylor, Ambrose… makes you wonder where they all start from.

If we just get Danek then that will do for me. Not sure why the Korean is being signed - he must be a hell of a player if he is better than what we have already.

Will deadline day bring us the leftback we still need at Molineux? Gray is playing well but is 33 and prone to injury. For me this issue has not been resolved with Dan Jones returning from loan. I rate him highly but he is not a natural left-back stopper. Daniel Fox was overlooked, the Colchester left-back (Elokobi - spelling?) trail has gone cold and Stephen O’Hallaran continues to be linked with several clubs.

As for Kevin Kyle, I say there’s merit in having him to make an impact late on in games when needed. I don’t see him starting matches and it’s only a loan so let’s give him a chance.

Don’t know if it’s just coincidence but when we signed all of those players at the end of last season and during the summer, it was all done with no fuss and wrapped up in a couple of days. As you know, this is most unAlbion like and coincided with Simon Hunt doing the deals. Since then Simon has departed and we seem to be back into the good old days (not) of signings dragging on for days, weeks, only the transfer window has saved us the months. Hope I’m wrong but these deals do seem to be dragging on.

Hey, Happy_Baggie, I saw the police caught two Baggie fans climbing over the stadium wall at P.N.E. Tuesday night.
But they made them go back in!
    Up the Wolves.

TRB - hopefully all the good work done in the summer is the reason we are so quiet now - other than a back-up keeper what do we really need ?

Simon Hunt got a lot of credit for our transfer activity - but its still JP who signs them off so I’m sure if there is someone TM really wanted he would sanction it.

6 - never heard that before..
