Late changes for Wolves

clapham.jpgMick McCarthy has allowed Jamie Clapham to leave Molineux for Leicester City, while young winger Elliott Bennett is going out on loan.

Charlie Mulgrew is joining League One’s Southend United on loan for the rest of the season. Youngster Matt Bailey has joined Kidderminster on loan.

Wolves left back Clapham has had his contract terminated and has joined the Foxes until the end of the season.

The defender, who signed for Wolves in August 2006, spent three months on loan at Leeds in the first half of the campaign.

He has made only one substitute appearance for Wolves this term, in the League Cup, and his contract was due to end this summer.

Clapham’s moves clears the way for a deadline day move for Colchester United left-back George Elokobi.

Midfielder Bennett is joining Bury on loan for a month.

“I’ve been told that I’m going there to play and I’m looking forward to it,” he said.

“Things went well for me at Crewe and I enjoyed being involved in first team games.

“It’s what I need, so I’m glad for the opportunity to go to Bury. Liam has told me it’s a good club.

“I’m going for a month and my aim is to get more experience and be part of Mick McCarthy’s plans in the future.”

Fellow academy product Liam Hughes recently returned from a temporary spell with the League Two outfit.

Mulgrew made seven appearances last season after joining from Celtic as part of the Lee Naylor deal. He has played under Mick McCarthy twice this term, both times in the Carling Cup.
