Albion were tying up a permanent deal for on-loan striker Ishmael Miller this afternoon as they continued to chase the deadline signature of South Korean star Kim Do Heon.
Baggies boss Tony Mowbray revealed that a deal to sign Miller from Manchester City is almost done and the Baggies hope to complete the paperwork before the midnight transfer deadline.
Mowbray said: “I think it is all pretty positive and I would like to think that by midnight tonight there will be some positive news on Ishmael.
“I think we are pretty close to concluding a deal that will make Ishmael an Albion player.
“Hopefully we will be able to announce something later on today.”
Miller has been a big hit since arriving at The Hawthorns in the summer on a season-long loan from Manchester City.
Albion had to convince Miller to put pen to paper during the window to secure a permanent deal at a pre-agreed price.
Any delay would have allowed City to up the asking price for any summer transfer.
Miller remains around a week away from first team contention after a hamstring injury against Cardiff.
Albion were still awaiting the verdict from the Home Office this afternoon on Kim’s application for a work permit.
The Baggies hope to wrap up the loan signing of the 25 year old midfielder for the remainer of the season if he is given permission to ply his trade in the UK.
Kim has 42 caps for South Korea but he has played in less than 75per cent of their last 15 internationals – the mark required for an automatic work permit.
Mowbray is confident that Czech keeper Michal Danek will complete his loan move from Czech club Viktoria Plzen before the deadline.
Mowbray also hinted that talks are ongoing with Livingston over Scottish winger Graeme Dorrans but the clubs were not thought to have agreed a fee.

brilliant news…could be a real class player in the future, still got a lot to learn though. hopefully super kev will teach him a few things? cant believe he’s guna actually sign for us!!!!!! GET IN THERE!!!!
BOING BOING !!!!!!!!
Brilliant
Theres a lot of promise in him, and with KP around to learn from he can develop into a real talent. A player that looks to have the Physical presence required for the Premiership.
His current injury may be a blessing in disguise.
Good work by the baggies who have gone about this relatively quietly.
we keep lettin in goals so what do we do?buy more attacking players i hope by 12 to night we have loaned or bought some defenders
Excellent news. Ishmael is a player with all the raw attributes necessary and has the potential to develop in to a top class premiership player - good work J.P and T.M.
He aint as good as SEB but gotta admit it will be a right coup if you lot sign him.
blimey whats this a tesco fan who knows what hes talking about (post 3) you should have had that sense when you was born and supported your bigger neighbours down the road….think you are going to come unstuck if TM dont act quickly and get players in for the position you actually need them DEFENSE!!! can sense a repeat of Dave Jones and 11 points clear only to mess it up
wow whwn we signed kanu i thought it was fantastic but this player could well be englands no9 and if we get to the prem he could be the difference,on tues night im miserable, now exstatic the joy of being a baggie!!!!!
Tony ‘Bomber’ Brown said weeks ago “Sign him up. He’s big, strong, has pace and will always be a threat to defenders”.
Seems as if Tony Mowbray agreed with him. Yes he has faults.Very one footed, selfish at times, and doesn’t use his height to the best advantage.
BUT no doubt Tony will work on the ‘faults’ while also rejoicing at his strenghths!
Well done to the manager AND Jeremy Peace. And by heck we can’t complain at the lack of signings can we!!
Post 6: what a surprise, a dingle who hasn’t a clue. Stick to the McCarthy Out/You’ve Let Us Down Again boards.
As for Miller, great signing if it happens but PLEASE someone get him to work on his right foot in training. If he works on that he will be unstoppable.
STUNNING NEWS !!
I thought he would def wait till the summer but if this happens it will be a real commitment to the club.
Great testimony to the backroom staff who make these things happen and to TM for playing the type of football that no player wants to walk away from.
Can’t help thinking Bednar’s form may have helped him make up his mind… gotta sign Roman and Cesar now ASAP.
Someone aerlier said it was only 250k transfer Ireally cant see that being true.
6. Since when have we been eleven point clear this season. Answer. Never.
As for bigger neighbours down the road, are you referring to The Villa by any chance as the team in South Staffs is an average size club.
Gr8. There that’s me getting down with the kids. Really chuffed, a tremendous signing. He has raw natural talent, very exciting to watch, against this he has a lot to learn but that will come with time. Another piece of the jigsaw.
PS. Wolves fc. Your spelling of defence is the American way, which explains a lot about your football knowledge (or soccer as you’d call it.)
Baggie Boy - i heard that too - seems very low…. but then he was unknown when he came here.
If its true it will be the bargain signing of all time !!
Happy Baggie - I think you’ll find the bargain signing of all time was the £50k we paid you for Steve Bull!
i think deal when we first had him was for £1,250m £1,500m ..def not 250.000…still agreat signing this kid will only get better under mow..and with danek and kim do hoen coming on board it will be agreat lift for the lads to get the job done…cos we are.GOING UP IN STYLE THE MOWBURY WAY…OH YES
come on you baggie boys!!!!!!
GREAT NEWS!!
BRING ON THE DINGLES
Bigger club, More trophies, More fans, Better ground.
Not as good a team at present but the gap is closing. The attack with SEB and Keogh look good, Edwards and Jarvis quality and somehow our defence 10 goals tighter than you.
Watch your backs!
Miller is a good signing though.
The price was only £900,000 what a steal city didnt think he would sign
great work by the chairman to get a price sorted when the loan deal was arranged. If he did not sign now that price would have gone right up. City tried to get him back during the window but the club would not let him go and now he has showed his commitment to the clubs cause. Now all fans should get behind him all the way to the premier league!
respoonse to Nick, this is the most exicting time for baggies fans for years and just remember we’re TOP so allow yourself to indulge this fortune my baggie friend,
Pitty brummie rob cant find his own website try looking on BCFC. or AVFC.
Dingles: learn to count, then work out the number of league places, points and goals scored between us and you: If it helps, we’re number one.
Why oh WHY have we pursued Miller. BEDNAR is an all round much better player. He plays for the team, works opposition defences and scores goals. We should sign him before someone else does!
Hark at all these digles, beat 2 teams in the bottom 6 and they are coming after us, wait till Watford play a full strength team.
Great Signing, boing boing
23…Bednar will sign at the end of the season we have signed Miller because we had to sign him in Jan to get him at the price agreed pre loan (if that makes sense)
Brummie wolf .. I would not bank on it Bull never played at this level at millers age I am sure if Miller was playing in division 4 he would be banging them in. If Miller continues to learn his trade he will to (in my opinion) go on to play for his country (thats before you harp on about bull/england yawn yawn living on the past.
18… Why are you a bigger club?? how can you say you have more fans you may have more “paying” through the turnstiles but unless you have done a world wide poll I dont think you can substantiate yor claim!
you have more trophies than albion!!! I have more garden than my neighbour but I aint a better gardener!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Better ground Why?
On your sensible points keogh etc I agree wolves may have found a decent pairing.
Unlike many albion fans I am a realist and promotion is a long way away, But I would sooner be top than 8th at this time in season and if it where visa versa I am sure you would be saying the same thing
Congratulations on getting Miller cheap.
I wasn’t expecting him to sign permanently the way his agent was talking awhile ago.
As for all the other chat it aint over til the Fat Ladies singing, both of us should knwo that.
Up the Gold and Black
Jeff stop talking rubbish bednar is a good goal scorer if we get to the premier league you need plays who can create goals for themselves and have that bit of pace. the boy is young and will be an excellent signing for west brom i have not hear hundreds of clubs banging down the door to sign bednar. If he sign that will be good also.
23,jef jef jef..dont panic son..the loan is the same deal as millers was,we have first choice to buy him at the end of it for a agreed fee..if he proves hes worthy to mow of signing,,which id say hes already done,,so dont panic BEDNER is ours if we want him…..GOING UP IN STYLE THE MOWBURY WAY…OH YES
What a signing. T.M. and J.P. are bigger thieves than the Great Train Robbers .How many players can have been bought for the money we have paid , and proved to be class acts far better than the dross we got rid of for mega bucks. Premier League here we come .Bye Bye DINGLES never mind you might get a derby against Walsall next season.
15 Brummie wolf.
Got to agree with you. My namesake was an excellent signing, just what you needed to get you back up from the old fourth to the second division. Without him you’d have probably gone bankrupt again and there weren’t as many ’sugar daddies’ around to rely on to bail you out in those days. But as Brummie rob wolves says you’re obviously such a much bigger club than us. What are those Welsh scallywags putting in you Brummies water.
its great to see west brom doing so well
15 - fair point !!
Dear Headzo,
There is no rubbish in my comment.
I have not hear (sic) hundreds of clubs banging down the door to sign Miller!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
dear jeff i am ishmeal,s brother so i belive i know alot more about clubs trying to sign him them you ever would so carry on with stupid comments!!!!!!!!
