Albion ‘land striker Dorrans’

West Brom have agreed the transfer of Graham Dorrans at the end of the current season, according to the striker’s club Livingston.

The Lions’ top scorer this season with ten goals, Dorrans had already attracted interest from Scottish Premier League clubs including Rangers and Dundee United.

The 20-year-old spent four days with West Brom last week on trial, and Albion manager Tony Mowbray followed up his initial interest with a formal bid which was accepted.

After negotiating personal terms with the player, who joined Livingston as a 13 year old, agreement was reached for Dorrans to remain with Livingston for the remainder of the season.A club spokesman said: “We are delighted to have reached agreement with West Bromwich Albion for the transfer of Graham.

“The agreement reached today represents a good deal for both club and player and we are doubly pleased that we have been able to retain his services for the rest of the season.

“We’re aiming to end the season on a high in both league and Scottish Cup and having Graham available for selection, as before, gives us a massive boost.”

Earlier this month, Livingston boss Mark Proctor said Albion would be “a good environment” for the player.

“We don’t want him to leave, he’s a talented boy, our top goal-scorer, but if the right bid comes in and it suits all parties, then so be it.”

The Albion boss had previously claimed a transfer window was unlikely.

Mowbray said: “I haven’t seen him but Mark Venus (assistant manager) has seen him once or twice and his name is always top of the goalscoring charts in the First Division in Scotland.

“The manager worked with Brunt and Morrison when they were youth team players and he feels the lad has similar potential.

“It (a January signing) might be unlikely, but there’s no harm in having a look at him to see the potential that’s there. If he does well we’ll monitor him on a weekly basis.”

Somebody phone the police… West Brom have stolen Ishmael Miller! He is worth at least double what we have paid for him and with the benefit of a bit of Mowbray magic, he will be worth double that again, in no time.
I don’t know about the rest of you… but it really does feel like someone knows what they are doing at the Hawthorns. We’ve signed Dorrans, albeit at the end of the season and he could really be another great talent for the future. It all sounds very promising.
Now about that Korean? Has he got that work permit?

Some of you may recall a light hearted post I made after 1 game this year saying how much better we were. Most of you took it in the spirit it was meant although one or two clearly do not understand such things. However on checking our respective records for 2008 perhaps I should have been more serious. We have both made it through to round 5 but your four league games have produced 1 win and 4 points and ours have given us 2 wins and 7 points. If you compare our season long records there are four games that we have drawn that you have won. This puts you 8 points ahead. However Mick has has an excellent January and despite all the criticism has clearly strengthened the team and the squad. It seemed certain that you would finish above us with all your goals scored but I have a growing feeling that it will be closer than you would like to admit.

    Never enough for some folks.

We’ve bought a goalkeeper. If he can command his area (and clear the ball well) it will make the world of difference to our defence.

    Attack! Attack!
    Attack! Attack! Attack!

    Boing! Boing!
