Wolves new boy Kevin Kyle checked into Molineux after sealing a season-long loan deal and insisted: “I will prove my worth.”
Boss Mick McCarthy swooped to sign Kyle this morning to end the striker’s nightmare spell at Coventry City and add the target man he has been chasing since the summer.
After completing his medical today Kyle hailed the move as a “dream come true” and said he is relishing the prospect of a clean slate at Molineux.
“I’m really glad to be here, it’s a dream move. I haven’t had a smile like this since my son Max was born,” he said today.
“It’s a fresh start for me and I’m sure some fans will have their opinions, but I’d like to think all the fans will give me a chance and somewhere down the line they’ll hopefully think ‘He was a good addition and he’s done his bit.’
“I’m all out determined to do that – there is no better feeling when you’re doing well than the fans shouting your name.”
The McCarthy factor has clearly played a key role in convincing Kyle that Molineux is the perfect place to relaunch his career.
“It’s great to link up with Mick (McCarthy) again,” the striker said.
“He got the best out of me when he was at Sunderland. In the season that we got to the semi-finals in the FA Cup and the play-offs, I got 16 goals.
“Mick believed in me and gave me the opportunity to go out and prove myself.”
Kyle’s signing comes as a surprise, but it appears that the boss has been able to convince owner Steve Morgan that Kyle’s addition will add the finishing touch to his attacking mix.
Morgan and McCarthy sat together in the directors box at Anfield last week to see Peter Crouch make a decisive impact off the bench against Villa and that may have swayed the Wolves owner’s thinking.
Kyle’s goalscoring record is five goals in 27 starts for Coventry. The 26-year-old Scottish international was with McCarthy at Sunderland where he scored 19 goals in 73 starts.
At 6ft 3ins he adds more height to a team now boasting six senior strikers and McCarthy will look at him as a potential impact player.
The boss said today: “He’ll be a big addition to the squad.”

Yes, we all have our own opinions on this guy, but I for one am willing to give him a chance to ‘prove his worth’. If we boo him from the off, whats that going to do to him? We’ve all seen what a bit of confidence can do for even the worst of players. Just look at Potter and Henry’s recent form!

The thing is Peter Crouch is 6.7″ KK is 6.3″ that’s a big difference in height. Crouchie can play the ball well first time when its into his feet, he’s creative imaginative and has a keen eye for strikiing goals aswell as just simply kncoking them down for others. My point is you can’t watch a vastly superior Liverpool squad feed Crouch all day long with quality and excpect KK to do the same job, when frankly they’re clearly not the same kind player with the same skill levels and all round play. The only thing they have in common is they are tall! (and Crouchy is considerably taller.)
Ex Sunderland again!! MM please look further than the end of your nose for ‘talent’. I see this as a regressive step for us, his record for Coventry isn’t that impressive and he can’t be that good if the Sky Blues said he could go.
Also another striker was not our most pressing need, what about one more attacking midfielder and a left back?

Give him a chance. I can’t imagine he’s going to start any games for the foreseeable future but sometimes you need that bit of height in this division. Probably the best strikeforce this league has seen in recent times was Quinn and Phillips.
I’m not sure that this arrival means we will loose one of our existing strikers since he is only on loan and he a completely different type of player to all our other forwards. By signing KK, MM is looking to give himself every possible footballing option as we push for promotion.

I’ve always backed McCarthy, and glad to see hes got us going in the right direction again. Great result last night, but this is totally baffling! Even if Freddy is on his way out before the end of the transfer window, do we still need another striker? Especially one with such a poor goal per game ratio. I wouldn’t pick this guy over any of our current strikers. And whoevers idea it was to go to see peter crouch play for liverpool in order to decide that kyle will be a good signing for wolves must be crazy.

Only ever seen the bloke play live twice. Both times he caused panic in the opposition defence without scoring. His use I would think would have to be purely as a target man to lay the ball off for the more mobile strikers. Then he might prove useful. Apart from that I do not understand the signing. However as always I wish him the best of luck in a Wolves shirt as I am sure all loyal fans of our great club do, Repeat loyal fans!

What you on about? Got no problem with fans rating Eastwood and thinking he’s a decent player. But class act? Haha. Some of you lot slate MM, yet worship a player who has done no where near enough to enjoy such idolising. Class act ha, can’t believe you’ve said that. ‘Bereton’ gave a brilliant breakdown the other day of FE’s games and he most certainly showed that as of yet Freddy is far from hero material. Maybe he has been a little hard done by at times, but if you don’t prove yourself when playing, then thats down to you. No doubt you will argue he proved himself at the star of the season, but he himself claimed to be tired and then struggled for form after. Decent maybe, Class far from shown yet.

KK is a target man but 7 is too many strikers… I suggest Ward goes on loan and then with Elliot on the right (for the time being) I suppose thats 5 strikers, Maybe KK and SEB should start on Sat. As even though Keogh scored last night he looked lost for long periods on the pitch.

The only positive thing about reading comments on here is that I will never, ever regret moving away from the Black Country. Do we not have any young promising strikers in the reserves, or youth teams? Yes, we’ve got 6 strikers in the 1st squad but do we not have any talent coming through the ranks? what sort of chance have they got now we have all these forewards? I think its good to have a variety, but 7!!!!! seems like overkill.

I would like to apologise for my message outburst earlier, but I just feel something about Eastwood’s potential and I would be absolutely gutted if he left without being a first team regular. If you look back to Frankowski, he cost £1.5m and was a failure. However, he failed to score after a good run in the side. He didn’t score in the 16 games he played in his first season. So all I want is for Eastwood to have a similar opportunity e.g 10 starts and see where he’s at. Someone said I was stupid for saying he is a class act, but he has bags of ability. If you watch the youtube video of his Southend goals and glimpses I’ve seen from him here e.g hitting posts, he has sharpness to find space for a shot, his close control can be superb at times, and he has a very accurate finish (I was at the Bray friendly in Ireland). I think he could be awesome!
We all said before th start of the season that we needed a couple of midfielders and defenders and still MM ignores this. Why can’t this man see what everyone else can see; or rather not see. That is we have a non existent midefield!

One of my dad’s work colleagues has summed up Mick MaCarthy and his striker shopping spree perfectly, If I sent you to the shops with a tenner and you came back with the wrong thing and then did that another 8 or 9 times, I certainly wouldn’t give you another tenner or another chance for that matter !

I do agree that we have what we could call a surplus in this area & I’d love to have seen at least 1 more strong middy along with at least 1 more for the back row..as in Fox, BUT, lets think back to previous run ins…..We always seemed to have run into trouble with injuries up front & also suffered with “fatigued players at times”, therefore, maybe MM is using experiance gained to give Us as many options up front should these problems surface.
Wotever happens guys n girls, lets keep the faith, lets show the support that has spurred the team on…n lets show the world what its like to be faithful, true followers of their clubs.

I´d have understood the moans if we had signed Kyle on and expensive 4 yr contract for £ 750 000 or something like that, in fact I´d have been one of the moaners myself. BUT, he is on LOAN, does offer an aerial presence that has been seen far to rarely in the Wolves´ attack this season, and might do an important job in a very tight division if used sensibly (coming on as a sub for the last 20 mins in matches where we need to nick a goal from somewhere to get a point or three…). Now, where is the pacy defender I had hoped we would sign? Come on MM!!
