Daniel Fox signed off from Walsall today by thanking manager Richard Money for turning his career around.
The 21-year-old, who signed a three-and-a-half-year contract at Coventry at the weekend, also thanks Saddlers fans and admitted he now regrets his transfer request at The Banks’s Stadium.
Fox’s switch from Walsall to the Sky Blues is believed to be worth around £400,000 to the Saddlers, who signed Fox on a free transfer from Everton two-and-a-half ye-ars ago.
Fox said: “I have loved my time at Walsall. I have spent two full seasons there and I can’t speak highly enough of everyone at the club.
“I owe so much to Richard Money. He has made me the player I am today and without him I wouldn’t be signing for a club like Coventry.
“He is a great coach but more importantly he stuck with me through some tough times. There were times last season when I don’t think I played very well and there were a couple of times when he left me out, rightly so.
“But he showed faith and stuck with me and hopefully I have repaid him and the club with some good performances this season.”
Fox handed in a transfer request earlier this month after news of Leeds’s interest in him became public, and he now admits it was a mistake.
“It was a hard decision and I think now it was the wrong decision,” he said. “I should have gone about things differently and been more patient.”

I wish fox every success and wish him all the best, i felt so emotional when i said good bye to him on saturday b4 the day. But releaved that i got to say goodbye unlike when two of my favourite saddlers left matty fryatt and martin butler. I could tell when talking to foxy how sad he was to leave. He has a real talent and has got alot of potential, he is a player who will go far.
all the best danny x
Super, thanks Daniel I hope you go on & make the Saddlers, Richard Money, the supporters & especially yourself proud.
You did well for us defensively, in midfield & scored some cracking goals.
Good luck, be successful, & never forget your teachings by the Walsall Coaches.
I truly hope you play for a successful England.
It’s nice to see a player make such comments. No doubt the transfer request issue he now regrets was driven somewhat by his agent. But in any event thanks Danny for all your hard work, I hate to see good players leave Walsall but you were always destined for bigger things. They say hard work reaps rewards and I just hope that your career moves onwards and upwards cos you deserve it.
Oh and if you ever play against us an own goal would be nice. Cheers.
