A man has been stabbed to death after visiting a house in the Black Country.
The victim, who was named today as Lance Hamilton, aged 33, from Dudley, was found collapsed on the pavement in Wolverton Road, Kates Hill, in the town following the attack.
West Midlands Police have confirmed a 17-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death which is being treated as murder.
Officers were called to Wolverton Road at around 2am yesterday where they discovered the victim. He was taken to Russells Hall Hospital, Dudley but later died.
A post mortem confirmed he died as a result of a single stab wound to the chest. The victim is believed to have earlier visited a friend’s house in nearby Bunns Lane.
Police suspect the attack may have happened in that area and that he may then have travelled by car to Wolverton Road less than a mile away. Cordons were put in place in Bunns Lane and around the area where Mr Hamilton was found.
Det Insp Sue Spencer said one person had been arrested and released pending further inquiries and that another remained in custody. She said: “We are treating the incident as a murder inquiry.” People living in Bunns Lane and nearby Wolverton Road were shocked by the news.
One resident, who did not want to be named, said: “All I can say is that he was a very popular bloke.”

This sad story is yet again proving a point. The death penalty must be returned, life is so cheap no one cares any more about their actions. I moved away from the Uk two years ago I do not regret doing so. The whole country is falling into anarchy there are murders literally every day.
The police are stretched to the limit locking up criminals only for them to be released from the Hotels ( PRISONS) they are staying in within a short space of time, no wonder there are very few spaces there all fighting to get in there .The DOOGOODERS have won the country is the loser there is no deterrent to stop the cancer that is sweeping the country.
When we are now able to prove beyond any doubt with the use of forensics that a person is guilty of a crime, we should have a referendum. We were not available to do this when the death penalty was stopped which answers the old chestnut ( well we might hang the wrong man)
There is no discipline or deterrent, parents either don’t care, or are unable to administer discipline due to the DOOGOODERS, the same applies to schools. We now have generations of yobs bringing up a second generation of yobs .
Lets go back before it’s to late, if it’s not already
COME ON EXPRESS & STAR
BE THE VOICE OF THE PUBLIC JUST ASK THE DECENT LAW ABIDING PEOPLE WHAT THEY THINK
I DARE YOU
David x Wolverhampton now Canary Isles
I agree with you David.
Unfortunately you are one of the lucky ones who have had the fortune to get out of this “rapidly” becoming a third rate country.
The whole Justice System whats looking at.I’m afraid this won’t happen under this yellow bellied human rights Government, who do more to help the criminals than they do for the victims of there crime.
All you get from this Government is “These are isolated crimes” if it wasn’t serious it would be a joke.
Then you get our Home Secretary going to get a kebab at night to show how safe it is !!!!! the news did not show you the swat team behind her.
i agree too with Davids comments but please dont think this sort of thing only happens in the UK i live in Gewrmany and there is enough brutality in everyday life here too
I have to concur with expatwolf …….. there is crime of this type in my adopted country ……. but you have to go looking for it and there is one fact that do not escape me … I can walk the streets of my nearest town after dark without the fear of being assaulted or mugged ….. to augment my security the City Copper WALKS the beat … admittedly he is armed but he carries a much more potent weapon …. The respect of the local populace.
I have not always lived outside of the UK and I remember a time when it was Oh so different………….
Dudley bloke, many thanks for your support im not here through good fortune I only wished I was. I’m a working man in my late 50’s. My only fortune was to be fortunate enough to have seen great britain at it’s best. What’s this about taking Britania off a coin of the realm ?
Times they are a changing people are coming here, and going elsewhere on the globe to live in there droves worried of the changes under foot.
This I can see at first hand as I work as an Estate Agent over here.
Rule Briania not for long!
There is ‘police presence’ on Kates Hill.
However, after asking them for help more than once I question their success.
Good-evening all,
Not only do I agree that capital
punishment could be a way of “putting off”
would-be criminals about to “do an ill dead”,
but how about (re)introducing hard labour, and
introducing the kind of punishment dished out
in the USA(50 years,and more),and possibly
so called chain gangs servicing public roads
etc in full view of the public at large, and
that with the culprit,s name in full view?
I Think one would thing twice, thrice,or more
times before committing anything criminal!

LOOKS LIKE NORTON ESTATE IN STOURBRIDGE (DUDLEY AGAIN) IS COPYING THIS TREND….FOR WEEKEND ALCOHOL BINGE DRINKING TRY …ROME !
A man has died my sympathy to all who knew him. I’ve lived close to Bunns Lane for 20+ years. I have watched this area become dirty, run down and unhappy. When I moved here people spoke to each other, now if you get off the bus on that street you are met by gangs/crews. I shipped my children out of Dudley to be educated, they now don’t want to walk this estate alone. As one came home tonight further blues and twos appeared on Watsons Green Road. Would I live somewhere else - ofcourse I would.
The prime reason for Capital Punishment is for PUNISHMENT. The dogooder wimps in our society (the liberals) have always told us the Capital Punishment is not a deterent so we should do away with it. Well we have, and the result is there are far more murders than there used to be. So the dogooders’ arguements were wrong and they have committed many innocent victims to death in the name of human rights for murderers. But they feel better about it. You can’t directly pin deaths of victims on them but they are responsible.
I have lived in and around Dudley for well over 30 years and started life off in Bunns Lane. Whilst Kates Hill was never the most ‘desirable’ place to live, back in the 70’s and early 80’s there was a sense of community and neighbours were also considered friends. No one at my school ever stabbed another pupil - or anyone else for that matter. No one was high on drugs or alcohol and we didn’t even answer the teachers back let alone rape/attack any of them. The worst anyone got up to would be a sneaky cigarrette or perhaps stole a bag of sweets from the local shop; the odd playground scuffle but everyone made up afterwards. ‘Gangs’ just meant you hung around with a bunch of friends - not looking for a taste of violence like today’s versions. We weren’t perfect but we had discipline back then and respect for our elders. The estate has gone further and further downhill, with some streets looking like war-torn Bosnia with the houses boarded up,snotty kids running around with no shoes on or 6 year olds out after dark fetching their mother something from the shop. I certainly don’t walk alone after dark and am disapointed with the lack of Police presence on this ‘troubled’ estate. Mind you, they were out in force when there were parking problems in one of the streets which is hardly crime of the century and more a sign of the times. Perhaps they too are afraid to walk the streets of Dudley? These days you daren’t make eye contact with anyone incase they take it the wrong way and who knows what the consequences could be? A life lived in fear is a life half-lived, the good people of Dudley shouldn’t have to put up with the rotten apples in the ‘community’. As soon as I have the opportunity I shall move away. I think things have gone too far to ever turn them around again.
hi to every1 at dudley , i was a dudley family and moved somtime ago to wednesbury. There is trouble and yobs every where, and people are frightened to stick up against them and this what they know, they have no respect for any1 not even there selves.AT schools they got rid of the slipper and the cane if you were bad, they told parents you carnt slap your own child ,(what do you get off kids of all ages if you dont agree with what they want , ill phone social services). We need to bring back the rights of parents and teachers.Goverment should make way for boot camp that if a child of school leaving age has not got a qualified job to fall into then instead of paying them dole money off us tax payeers and law abbiding people make them goin the army ,navy or the air forces for at least 3 mths ,they would be glad to get a job.We need doctors ,nurses teacher What is rung in making them train for that.Slightly changing the subject it was only 2 year ago my 62y dad was attacked and stabbed by four members of the same family in wednesbury,it took 12 mth to get them to wolvo crown court and on 19 july 07 all were convicted YOU know what they got a suspended sentence for 12mths and community work and walked from court laughing , but to find out that 1 of the criminals has attacked a 16yr old lad also from wednesbury and was convicted at magastrates court on 7 january 08 and sentenced to 20 weeks jail, for all that damage he has done to two different familys he got 20 weeks he had all ready been in prision 4 or 5 other times over the last 3 years COME ON GOVERMENT DO SOMTHING USEFULL. And us law abidding people we have to stick together name and shame these animals.
