I played the first part of the match with our usual defence, Fay, Rosie and Chantel.

Midfield I had Estelle and Connie and Emily up front.

Paige gladly said she would play goalie beause our goalie has left us.

We needn’t have worried because Paige is fantastic in goal and saved our bacon quite a few times during this match.

I’ve awarded Paige 10 points because of going in goal for the TEAM.

In the first 10-15 mins the game didn’t seem to be going anywhere really.

Estelle and Connie were really trying to get the ball and tackle but just couldnt get the ball up the field.

Gornal Girls are quite tall and I dont know if this had anything to do with our girls being a little less confident than what they are in training.We were also playing with the sun in our eyes.

I decided to swop midfield about a bit.

This seemed to make a difference and we were then getting the ball up the field. Emily in attack got into some great positions but somehow couldn’t just manage to get the ball into the net.

I decided to put our new player Isabel on just about 5 mins till half time whistle blew. This was also again a positive move because she really seemed up for it. Half time and score still at 0-0.

I kept with the same team for the next half of the match.

Our defence were fantastic and were like a brick wall. I gave Rosie and Chantel players to mark and they did so.

Fay was also moving up with the ball but her power on the ball was too much for the ball to keep in play.

A corner ball and our spinner Jess was taking this. Rosie had moved up also to mark a player and if the ball come out to knock it back into the box.

The ball was knocked about in the box and Isabel managed to get her right foot onto the ball and nearly drove the ball right through the net with the power!

WELL DONE GIRL!

1-0 and still quite a bit of time for the whistle to blow. We had quite a few more chances and so did Gornal but our defence was not having any of it.

Quite a few times the defenders went on a run. Chantel was brilliant with knocking the ball up to our attacker.

Rosie stood her ground brilliantly today as well.

Fay created chaos in Gornals defence as they were it seemed not going to tackle our Thunderbolt!

With about 10 mins to go our defence seemed as if they were tiring and we really needed them to stand tough. With no-one else willing to play in defence I kept the girls on and crossed everything!!!

Paige was so good. If she wasn’t so brilliant as a winger I’d like to keep her in goal.

FINAL WHISTLE eventually blew and we did it Girls 1-0 to us.

Girl of the Game went to Isabel.

I do think that you all did us proud yet again.
