Hope the keeper deal goes through, Kiely needs some pressure to bring out the best in him.

    To be honest mate,
i`m sure Danek is being viewed as
    a permanent replacement, with Deano
    as back up.

Well in saying that mate, when we signed Kuzscak we still kept Hoult in for a while didnt we, I think if we sign Danek we will slowly introduce him to it. Plus the gulf of difference between the Championship/Premiership could prove to be a real situation should we get promoted, I mean Danek may just get used to Championship football then all the sudden it switches to the pace of the Prem…

But I’m sure TM has his plans in place.

So another day without any rumours of new defensive signings.
Mick out has he clearly doesn’t know what our weaknesses are

4- To be fair. I’d rather moxey/wolves keeps a lid for as long as possible on who we have an eye like they did with SEB & Edwards rather than shout about who we might sign.

E&S might have less to write and we have less to talk about, but makes much more sense to the benefit of our club. Why alert our competitors of who we are interested in?

with all the defenders on the books (when fit) i think we have enough for tyhis season. what worries me is how long our players take to recover from injuries - other teams seem to get their blokes back far quicker than we do. and before the comments roll in - i don’t think we should put all the blame on Daley - its been happening long before he arrived.
I’ll be much happier when we get either Craddock or Breen back in the middle to steady the defence. the midfield now should be ok what with Kites and Davies hopefully back into contention and with Edwards & Jarvis looking good, i don’t think Oli will get a look in.

    You ain’t seen nothing yet!
If you think this team is weak defensively, you should’ve been around in the 80’s when the freefall happened & the Bhatti brothers performed their asset stripping act.
Graham Turner performed a small miracle getting us to where he did with limited funds, as Sir Jack was concentrating on the rebuilding of the fantastic Stadium we now play in.
Following him we had Graham Taylor, Mark McGhee, Colin Lee, Dave Jones & Twaddle all of whom spent a lot more money & with the exception of Jones, failed to get Wolves back to the Premiership.
A lot of people on here knock Craddock & Breen, but if you ever had the misfortune to have seen Joe Gallagher in a Wolves shirt, you would know what a bad defender really was!
In pre-season 2006, Wolves cut their wage bill in half following the departure of 12 senior players. However, Wolves only received a transfer fee for two (the sales of Joleon Lescott and Seol Ki-Hyeon).
I personally still think Mick as done wonders in the short time he’s been with us, even though I too am guilty of knocking him in the recent past.

According to the Norwegian press and Brann´s website, Wolves and Brann have not been able to agree on a fee for left back Erlend Hanstveit, meaning that Hanstveit will stay at Brann. The Danish agent involved is quoted saying that Wolves made Brann an offer significantly exceeding the £ 500 000 indicated in the press and that Wolves were unwilling to increase the offer, which Brann may have believed to be an opening offer only. Still according to the agent, Wolves are now close to signing another left back…

Given Wolves’ transfer and wage restrictions, I think Mick McCarthy is doing it right. Buy young players who might develop, like Kightly, Keogh, Henry, Jarvis, Eastwood, Foley, David Edwards and Ebanks-Blake and take a good look at them and our youth products (like Hennessey, Murray, Davies and Jones). It’s no use spending big money on players who won’t be up to the Prem.
If we don’t get promoted, then we buy more like them plus, if we can, a couple of genuine quality players to guide those who are making the grade to automatic promotion next season. If we do go up, we urgently buy who we need to supplement our young players in the Prem. Let’s face it, it’s going to be much less difficult to get the kind of player we want once we are promoted (rather than where we are now!).
McCarthy probably wanted Danny Gabbidon, Gary Cahill and/or Liam Ridgewell, but Steve Morgan and Jez Moxey couldn’t deliver. It’s no use buying someone older who’s not as good as them!
The big question is, “Should Morgan and Moxey relax our budget restrictions?” Until they do, IMHO, McCarthy is doing great.

In this thread when I said, “McCarthy is doing great,” I meant strictly in the transfer market. Mick McCarthy’s tactics on the pitch and some of his outbursts off it are a different kettle of fish.
Just wanted to clarify–I’m not a “trust-in-Mick” club member, but, given the limitations he’s working under, I do think McCarthy’s done OK in the transfer market.

No.6 Mark, you are a greedy sod really. Lol. JP got a brilliant deal for him from Wigan. I doubt they’ll even get their money back. Shame though because he has the skill to be a top, top player, just summat wrong in the thinking area.

  13. Happy_baggie said:

Mark 6 - I hear Koumas is valued at about £3M at the moment - luckily Wigan don’t have to make a profit to activate a sell on clause, and although I don’t know for sure, i bet JP had one written in…..

If we buy him back - do we still get the sell on…? Now THATS greedy !

Not having a go but the players you mentioned are not going to leave the prem. Sometimes we the fans can be a bit unfair on management, it’s easily done from our armchairs. Even if SM and JM released the funds young prem players won’t make the drop with the very rare exception. We got James Morrison and I still don’t know how.

  15. Nippy Lobo said:

Yeah, Cyril (12), and, as Roy Keane said this week, at Premiership level football is played between the ears. Nonstop concentration is the no.1 requisite.
