Reserve outing great for Breen

Wolves' Gary BreenGary Breen came through 90 trouble free minutes as Wolves and Shrewsbury reserves fought out a 1-1 draw at the Bucks Head last night.

The pitch at Telford was showing all the signs of the heavy rain and both sides struggled to make an impression in the opening minutes.

Jamie Clapham fired wide from 25-yards and Liam Hughes was close to adding to his 10 goal tally for the season with a header that flew narrowly wide.

The best chance of a mundane first half came in the final minute when Charlie Mulgrew’s header from Stephen Gleeson’s corner was cleared off the line by Leon Miles.

Graham Stack, in the home goal, hadn’t had a worthwhile shot to save but he was beaten in the 70th minute when Steve Leslie’s corner wasn’t properly cleared and Jimmy Ryan drilled home a 25-yard ground shot.

Wolves responded with an equaliser within three minutes when the industrious Clapham slipped the ball through to Elliott Bennett who beat Ryan Esson in the Town goal to give Wolves a deserved share of the spoils.

As the game neared its conclusion, Clapham drove into the side netting and Leslie was close with a long-range shot. But a draw was about the right result from a disappointing contest.

Wolves: Stack, Dunleavy, Malone, Gleeson (capt) (D. Davis 83), Breen, Mulgrew, E. Bennett, Salmon, Hughes, Hemmings, Clapham. Subs: Lumley, Winnall, K. Bennett, Williams.

    Why all this negativity?
    Some people !
If Wolves were 2nd in the Prem, in the semis of the Champions league, playing in the League cup finals & had a ground capacity of 60,000, there would STILL be someone moaning about some trivial thing.
To these I’d like to say just one thing, if you don’t like it, you can always go to Old Trafford & “support” Man Utd!

Kent: Everyone has a right to comment and just because people aren’t as stary eyed has some others it doesn’t mean you or anyone else has the right to tell them to go and support some other team.
If it wasn’t for fans demanding more we’d probably still have hoddle in charge.
