Wolves new signing predicts goals

emp-54751432.jpgWolves’ new signing David Edwards today declared: “I’m your goal-scoring midfielder” as he reflected on his promotion to the Championship.

Edwards watched Saturday’s 3-0 defeat against Crystal Palace at Molineux when Mick McCarthy’s men wasted numerous chances.

The £675,000 signing has carved a reputation for breaking into the box and scoring his fair share of goals.

The 24 year old midfielder is determined to provide the same service at Molineux.

“I love to break forward – whenever the ball is out wide – I want to get in there and score goals,” said Edwards.

“Whenever crosses come in, I want to be there as third striker trying to get on the end of things.

“I always set myself a target at the start of the season and I’ve six already so I’m looking to make that double figures.”

Edwards misses out on one of the matches of his life tonight after moving from Luton, who face an FA Cup third-round replay against Liverpool at Anfield.

But the Welsh international has no regrets and is already convinced he made the right move.

“I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Luton – they are a real family club,” he said.

“But I hope with the money they have raised from selling me it has helped them, because they are in a terrible situation.”

As the lowest scorers in the Championship, Wolves have struggled to find the net from all departments this season.

Last season, Seyi Olofinjana scored nine from midfield, but the Nigerian is currently away on African Nations Cup duty with his country and is not expected back until the end of the month at the earliest.

welcome, Eddie the manager likes to play players who don’t drive flashy cars up and down motorways too much so best sell the 2CV that Luton bought ya!
No more motorway drivin for you my friend. Its too strenous…got it?
Also if you don’t score or have an off day expect to spend the next 4 games on the bench or proving your fitness in the reserves, where you might score lots of goals but won’t be recalled for 4 months.
If you’ve not yet played for Sunderland or got an irish passport then opportunities will be limited, but at least we’ll pay you for being here. You can help the youth team to develop on Sundays.
The fans…we’re a fickle bunch noted for it and proud of it aswell so don’t worry about getting booed its not peronal or your fault, blame MM for subbing you in the first half. Rest assured, we will too.
Enjoy your stay…if you succeed those mighty west country giants Bristol City will be in for ya in the Summer and you can join a club with ambition.

Everybody knows what I think of M&M and their incompetent manangement of our club, but this is the first intelligent signing that they have made this season, and it could start to produce results, if only MM can make up his mind which are his two best strikers. It’s only a glimmer of hope, but this is real hope and not the oversold hype of last weekend.

Can I suggest that the criteria for the strikers is “Who scores the goals” and not “who runs around most?” I don’t care if they lies down for a snooze for 80 minutes if they scores goals in the remaining time.

Mr Morgan does not seem to want to sack the incompetent duo, so as fans, we will be forced to endure the deadly duo until the end of the season, when they will surely have to go, after once again failing to earn promotion.

Of course, the failure will then be described by them as the fault of the fans. Both of the M&M duo are serial failures, yet they keep finding clubs that can be duped into hiring them. Wolves are their latest victims. Just look at their records of disaster and sackings, and you can see that the same has happened here again. They continuously play on the loyalty of the fans to the club.

The boss is Mr Morgan and he will see the light eventually.

I have posted several ’sack MM’ posts and still feel he has to go. What I have never done in the thirty years I stood on the terraces was boo a Wolves player. Stop it now. I once stood on an open Carlisle terrace on a Tuesday night in the pouring rain and I think we lost 3-1, we sang our heads off. Next home game I want to read about you lifting the roof off. Get behind them from the first whistle and I believe you will see a miracle. If you are going to boo please stay at home and stop bringing shame to our club.

Time to start getting behind the team now as they try and turn the season around. Morgan has ambition as he’s spend over £2 Million in January. MM might not be everyone’s favourate at the moment but booing is so detrimental to the team why bother, we might as well wear baggies shirts to the match if we keep having such a go at the manager and team, but its same old story with players finding it hard to perform in front of demanding fans. Lay off them and start showing support for the old gold and black

I am worried there are other back room problems no doubt not at playing level but senior managerial level. It’s in need of a root and branch sort out and SM has to grasp the nettle and make positive changes to the make up of the managerial staff, if we are to succeed. You have a current Senior Management Team that don’t know what is required to get the club into gear for a long term premiership club. This attitude needs to change, a shake up is long over due.
Spending money is one way of showing you’re committed to change but it will not solve problems the have beset this club for 20 decades now. How often have you heard, we are prepared and ready for the Prem we have all the facilities and aspirations…now asnswer this where are we now? where are we likely to be next season?? More than a mismatch if you ask me..
