I’ve had enough. We squandered chance after chance on Saturday and paid the price, writes Wolves blogger Nathan Lloyd.
Palace were stronger, more clinical and balanced and in the end deserved to leave Molineux with all 3 points.
The crowd booed the fact that Ebanks-Blake was taken off but only because Mick didn’t remove Bothroyd.
Andrew, the young lad who sits next to me, said that quite rightly that we would be better off playing with 10 men rather than leaving Bothroyd on.
He was proved right a few seconds later when the hapless Bothroyd prevented Freddy having a shot on goal and then missed an open goal from about three yards.
After that miss, I said it should be the last kick he ever makes in a Wolves shirt, but no doubt Mick will stick with him and many other of our useless players.
And as for Mick McCarthy’s future at the club?
I’ve backed the gaffer all season.
I’ve mentioned before that last season was full of surprises and was a joy to be a part of.
We ended up in a healthy play-off place when most fans were expecting the worst with the mass exodus at the start of the season.
He played lots of the kids, Davies, Gobern, Little, Gleeson, etc
But was that more out of a necessity to get a full team out than Mick really deciding that blooding the youngsters was the strategy to adopt?
This season Mick has bought in his own players and stubbornly refuses to drop any of them, regardless of how poorly they are playing.
The entire crowd can see how imbalanced the team is, so why can’t he?
What a difference it made to our performance when Jarvis and then Freddy and Keogh were brought on.
Playing someone on the wing who can actually bust his lungs down the flanks makes all the difference.
Stephen Ward on the left has been ridiculous since the start of the season, when will it end?
And to start Henry on the right against Palace was genius.
My faith and confidence in Mick McCarthy has almost completely ebbed away.
I’ve said it before that I don’t really look forward to watching games at Molineux at the moment.
The Sylvan Ebanks-Blake signing was really just papering over the cracks.
Let’s face facts we are still a disorganised shambles of a side.
We have sunk to mid-table and are now nearer the bottom than the top.
Anyway, I’m beating around the bush.
What you probably want to know is, do I think we need a managerial change?
Do I think Mick should go?
In a nutshell, yes.
I pay my money to go along to Molineux like anybody else and I pay that money to be entertained.
When the team is announced and I hear the names Bothroyd, Henry and Ward (both), I know that MM hasn’t learnt anything from our previous games and we are probably in for another torrid time.
Mick is just too stubborn to admit he is wrong and change the team.
And that’s why I think his time is up.
He has had countless opportunities to change things and just hasn’t.
Trouble is, if he leaves now, the new guy simply won’t have time to identify targets and bring in fresh blood in the transfer window, but does he need to?
Ok, we are a bit short defensively, but in midfield and up front we certainly have enough to drag us through the rest of the season if the right personnel are played in the correct position, a philosophy Mick has struggled with all season.
To be honest, I don’t really want to make the play-offs this season.
That’s probably a strange statement to make.
But think about it, do you really want another season of the turgid fodder we have been served of late?
And can you imagine if Mick actually took us up?
Doesn’t really bear thinking about.
If we are to make a managerial change, then the likelihood is that Mick will be leaving at the end of the season and we can then start to look at an Ince or an Allardyce.
At the moment Ince will be keen to finish what he has started at the MK Dons and Allardyce will probably take his big pay-off and head for a beach.
And if Ince does take the MK Dons up, which is looking more likely by the game, he will become a target of many clubs and may well feel bitter at being overlooked for the Molineux post in the first place.
So, please don’t call me fickle.
I’ve backed MM for as long as I can, but I can’t sit and watch the bile we have had for most of this season.
Sorry Mick, but your excuses game after game just don’t wash and I really have had enough.

Well said Nathan, but I think there is enough time still this season to get something out of it, if we get a new man at the helm NOW. We all know we would have to buy almost a new team to survive in the top flight anyway. Get a run going, win the play offs because automatic promotion has gone, then hit the new season from scratch.

Give him a month after we bring in a few signings to see if he can turn it about. Then if we are back in the playoff spots give him to the end of the season.
I think we could yet be pleased to have him, and dont forget that he had sod all cash to spend when he took the Black Cats up.
Other than that - if he does go then bring in Ince or Allardyce, but I think Mick deserves a chance.

In my opinion Nathan your comments are echoed by the majority of our fans; one thing i would add though is that i think Karl Henry is coming in for some unmerited “stick” just lately; i really think he gives his all and never shirks his responsibility, even when frequently pushed out of position; i believe that if we had a better attack-minded player alongside him he would be freed up to do the job he is good at, that of a midfield stopper.
Nathan you have just about summed up the feelings of most loyal Wolves fans and in a much more reasoned manner than many on others these pages.
It is very interested to note your comments n Boothroyd, with which I fully agree, how in heavens name did the Express and star reporter have him as Wolves man of the match? Do they actually send some one or are they even more Peed of than you and me and simply sit at home hoping?
It is still a mute point regarding the departure of MM. It is true he is displaying considerable stubbornness and appears to be saying this manager is not for turning, when he should be considering wholesale changes.
Lets hope we can take some glimmer from what was an improved second half display on Saturday Lets particularly hope that MM also recognised the improvement when we had something resembling a balanced line up.

I read these comments each day and have never been tempted to post anything, but i have to say i probably agree with most the above.
My dad goes to every home game and has done for many years and its the worst weve seen of late - half the ground was leaving this saturday and what i guess really frustrates me is that people pay good hard earnt money to watch rubbish.
I was full of praise for what MM did last season but the selection and tactics this year have really suprised me.
Would love to obviously see wolves in the prem again but i think we’d be another Derby if we got their playing like this.
Really hope MM can turn things around and show us all to be wrong - but i doubt it.

i have to agree nathan, micks time is up, i too am sick of paying money to watch the same under performing players each week. its so frustrating to watch. 20.000+ people each week are saying the same thing and yet the manager is too stubbon to do anything about it. mick was quoted last week as saying s.ward was one of the best finds of his managerial career, well maybe when he eventually does get the sack he could take him with him, maybe henry and bothroyd too as he must be sleeping with the both of them to keep playing them!. i thought when we got rid of all that dead wood two years ago that this would be a new era for the wolves.. i wasnt dissapointed, it was a new era, defensive play.. ride your luck, great!. bring back hoddle, all is forgiven!
MM just needs to start playing players in their proper positions and drop the under performers. Jeez if we are this bad why on earth arent the likes of Davis, Rosa, Gobern, and Jones getting a look in. We do have 11 fit players to form a balanced side and when Kights is fully ready - then even better !! Play Jones at Left Back Play Jarvis Left Wing Play Roasa and Davies in mid field and see how it goes !! Cant possibly be any worse !!

Now what happens is that people will turn on you and blame you for not being a real fan. Then if that doesn’t work they will try and make out that it is nothing to do with player/team selection but the fact that the fans are fickle and this makes the players play worse.
Then they will try and make out that only Wolves have fickle fans (everybody in the whole world realizes that, especially Baggies fans!) Then they will forget about the last sentence when they try to draw on the Newcastle analogy.
In short, I suppose most people will use any excuse to try and back up their own view point. Every situation is different but sometimes it is right to hound a manager and sometimes it is wrong.
But however you look at it, fans want what is best for the club, unlike the press who only want a sensation that sells, to say in one line that it was only a small section of the crowd that were getting restless then later on announce that half the ground was empty before the final whistle is a bit of a contradiction!
Personally I am happy giving more time to a manager if I think he has the ability to get it right. Graham Taylor should have been given more time and so should Dave Jones but Hoddle should have gone, not because he wasn’t a good coach but because he didn’t want the job.
McCarthy should go because he is not good enough just like McGhee and Colin Lee before him, but that’s just my opinion!
The man is a clown. He’s spent something in the region of £5m on strikers and still we can’t score goals or win games. Hmm, could that have something to do with the fact that our midfield can’t impose itself on any game we play? Or the fact that our defense is completely demoralised because one central defender wanted the captain’s armband for the Palace game had the guts to offer his services publicly only to be shunned for a defensive midfielder (played on the right wing) who never bollocks players when they’re not playing well?
Or maybe its the fact our strikers have to come back into their own half to get the ball….
I can’t see where our next win is coming from because the manager is devoid of ideas, the team is devoid of confidence and the fans are devoid of faith.

that,in my opinion,is you’re best blog of the season so far,everything you say is correct.i am most annoyed at his reluctance to play our “own” kids,jones on the left for the useless ward,little could of replaced kightly on the right as he is so good going forward & gleeson could of played instead of either gibson or potter in the middle,there as useless as each other.as for mark davies,gobern & rosa,i don’t know what to say because i keep hearing they are fit enough to be playing but wolves are putting it out they are’nt.one last thought,if/when mccarthy goes,we can’t get ince or big sam,what about a punt on alex rae,i hadn’t considered him untill yesterday but then i heard patrick barclay saying on national radio,that alex rae was the best young manager in scotland.
Why does Mick not give the other 11 subs that we have a gsme and see how they get on it can be no worse than what i have watched all season, we have a squad why not use it. Mick has in my opinion totally lost all interest in the club and his team selection is dreadful.

It makes me smile, when the self preservation society, i.e. football managers, start saying you shouldn’t sack the manager. The problem is, there’s far too many managers who like the players, aren’t good enough for the league they are in!!
It’s desperate times at molineux. When you consider our best defender ( craddock) used to be C&*p but now hes alright, so what happens ? We have a manager who buys another striker…
The team is crying out for a decent centre half pairing ( which we need to buy) and a couple of creative midfielders.
I think most fans can see that, and probably, a half decent manager could too.
The whole team knows our defence is rubbish, thats why the midfield spends most of its time defending. Hence we dont score many goals, and we dont concede either.

Hoddle and McCarthy are the 2 worst managers ever to be appointed at Wolves so I will personally ask to see Smug Jez and ask him to resign when I,m next at the Mol, 2 more points before I go (1) Morgan wants to get back here from Uganda and sort this mess out and (2) methinks it,s time for us fans to vent our displeasure outside the main entrance of the Mol next home game.

The last time the Board sacked a Manager - Dave Jones, in his last eight games in charge we managed 12 points (4 wins and 4 defeats) out of 24.
The current run of 4 points out of the last eight games is the worst run of form I can remember since the dark days of the mid 1980s.
I follow the team home and away and will be at Scunthorpe on Saturday, but the way I feel at the moment I have no confidence in the Manager and the team he puts out on the pitch.
I don’t think McCarthy knows to turn things around as he is too stubborn to make changes in the team and bring some of the young players in, who did well for us last year when called on. It’s the same old points over and over again. How many times have supporters said Ward is out of position on the left-winger and why play Henry on the right hand side in the last two league games, when he is clearly not up to the job.
You can see why Roy Keane fell out with McCarthy before the 2002 World Cup, as the man will not listen to new ideas.
A message to Mr Morgan, please hand Mick his P45 before it is too late this season!

I don’t agree with many things this season, but see no point in panicing now.
MM hasn’t become a bad manager since last season, no doubt he has made some mistakes but he needs the time to get things back on track.
I see Alladyce hasn’t dome very well this season either, why consider him then? He just plays bang it up the middle tactics!
I believe the majority of true Wolves fans still back MM, yes with dented support, but realise we are building and the road isn’t always very smooth.
MM is paying big time for the miracle of the over achievment last year and the falsely placed extremely high expectation of some this season. I don’t think anyone needs to have managerial experience to recognise the blatant idiocy of McCarthy’s team selections, substitutions and tactics. No, you only need half a brain, which Mick clearly hasn’t got. How else do you explain square pegs in round holes all over the park? I hate seeing managers needlessly sacked and I certainly don’t think constant upheaval does my club any favours….but come on, enough is enough! Mick, you’ve lost the plot, mate. Worse still, you’ve alienated the fanbase and almost bored them into submission. Forget promotion, it’s as good as gone under McCarthy, but relegation is a real possibility if Morgan doesn’t act soon. This isn’t a bad run….this is a CRISIS. Let’s hope Morgan realises this before it’s too late.
Nathan - it seems you have now arrived at the same point of view that I arrived at a couple of weeks ago. I was not happy when McCarthy was appointed because he came with a reputation of using a negative style of play and the Roy Keane issues put question marks over his man management skills.
Last season, however, I was forced to eat my words. I thought Mick did a really good job bringing in some good young players and playing a high tempo style of football.
All that seems a distant memory now though. This season Wolves have been painfully boring to watch, they rarely look like scoring and now even the boring 1-0 wins have dried up and we are half way down the league as a result.
Why he has persevered with Bothroyd and Ward when in the summer he bought in ideal replacements in Eastwood and Jarvis is a complete mystery. And to continually set up the midfield with two defensive players has clearly helped our goals against record at the expense of the goals scored.
I don’t think the style of football will change under this manager even if the results do. And even if the amazing happens and we win the play offs I don’t believe we would do any better in the Premier League then Sunderland did under McCarthy.
We have had a string of experienced managers come to the club and do a decent job for a short while and then lose the plot. Thats why I would like to see a young manager that is making his mark in the lower leagues come along and refresh the club. I belive Paul Ince will do a good job managing a Premier League club within the next two to three years and I hope that club is Wolves.

Fair enough - but would Morgan have sanctioned £2.2m of spending for players with limited experience at this level if he was on the lookout for a new manager? Morgan has criticised the rate of managerial turnover recently and was brought up during the successful eras of Shankley, Paisley etc.
I’m not advocating keeping Mick - I lost faith in him when he started criticising fans rather than looking at his own faults, and I would be happy, in theory, to see him depart. I’ve had enough of him to be honest.
I just think that we’re stuck with him for the remainder of the season. This worries me for a number of reasons. The main one is that MM has already started to use the press (via himself and a number of players e.g. Keogh, Gray, Kites, Henry) to protect MM plc; at complete odds with what he should be doing and acting in the best interests of WWFC.
I listen to the commentary over the net and even that sends me to sleep. I feel for you having to pay to watch that dour, drab, dross.

I was at Molineux on Saturday. A rare treat for me these days. I have been a Wolves supporter for 35 years and although in more recent years I don’t have the time or finances available to go very often, I never miss a match on the radio. However, I was bought tickets for Saturday as a Christmas present, and went along, despite knowing that our recent form has not set things on fire. I’m not a fickle fan, I’ve spent many an afternoon and evening at Molineux in the past, particularly in the eighties as we cascaded from Division 1 to Division 4, and average attendances at matches fell to between 4,000 and 5,000. And yes, it was immensely disappointing and frustrating having paid to watch them and then see them lose yet another game, but I NEVER, EVER, booed the players, individually, or as a team. It’s at times like these that players need our support more than ever.
Of course we don’t all agree with the manager’s choice of team and decisions that are made during the match on either positions or substitutions, but surely our role as supporters is to support the 11 players out on the pitch, who do, after all, want exactly the same as us - a win and 3 points in the bag. I can’t think of any person in any profession who would not have their confidence knocked in such circumstances that I witnessed on Saturday. If people care enough to give up time and money to watch Wolves, then please, show each and every one of those players on the pitch the support that they need more than ever when things aren’t going well.

I really get frustrated by (some)wolves fans ( i feel I have the right to comment as I too am a wolves fan with a season ticket for the last 15 years in the south bank).
At the match on Saturday, one minute “fans” were singing super mick, the next you don’t know what your doing, followed by boos and then a sarcastic mexican wave. I was ashamed to call myself a fan! If I was a wolves player, there is no way I would be “busting a gut” to prove the fans wrong, maybe that’s my mentality but, you - the fans are just as bad. Booing at the first available opportunity makes me sick. I was so angry listening to some of the discussions etc. The bloke behind me for e.g. I have never seen him before, yet he is moaning that he has paid money for this, he won’t be there next week or the week after, will he (yes I know we are away at scunny). Not just the two bit fans either, the so called “loyal” ones. I think this season we, as fans have took fickle to a new level.
Mick should stay! I am going against the grain here. Why should he stay…. because last year he did a job for us, he will this year too. How can you sing super mick in the same game as you don’t know what your doing beggers belief, although maybe not as you/we are wolves fans.

Get it right, over the years we have been massively let down by the club and its array of managers for whatever reason. This year we have forked out £500 odd to watch
our beloved team. No-one expects to win every game. We do expect committment, guts and effort, something that has eluded a couple of players this year. Managers should be judged on the progress they make. We have blatantly gone backwards. Id love to be in a board meeting with you and Mr Morgan. If he said to you “im not happy with the progress of the team and the results have been far from satisfactory” would you really turn round and say “hang on, you should be grateful for last year” ???? come on……..
Hey Guys. For Christ’s sake give MM a break. So, OK, we’ve hit a bad patch in the last 8 or 9 games and fallen down the table. But that’s 8 or 9 games out of the last 73, plus cup games, since he took over, in circumstances that have been well documented (Hoddle, no players, no money, etc). He hasn’t suddenly become a bad manager! He of course dictates the tactics to be played, and maybe sometimes they are questionable, but he has no control over the inexplicable loss of form of some players on a match day. Any new boys coming into the team need time to gel and we, as fans, must give them and MM that time. After all, who could disagree with what MM has achieved in the 18 months he’s been here, compared to the rubbish we’d been subjected to since that great day in Cardiff.
Get behind the team and the manager. It’s not too late - not by a long chalk. Let’s hear more of the chant “SUPER, SUPER MICK”

It is really interesting and nice to see that everyone agrees with these excellent comments. At Wolves we need a Manager that lives and breaths the 21st Century, Ince should have got the job last time around. If Mr Morgan is reading these comments, I would like to say that as a wolves fan it is great to see him take interest and invest in our club, 30 million can turn a championship side into a premiership side very quickly, but needs the right people at the top. Jez M & Mick M are not those people.
Finally if we are going to spend any more money in this transfer window, we must buy a little bit of experience to drag the kids though the tough times, Lee Carsley from Everton is a great example of a hungry player bags of experience that do do a great job for Wolves, Just like Incey a couple of years ago.

why the hell isn’t Rosa getting a game? its irritates the hell out of me to see him scoring for fun in the reserves - the exact player we have been missing in the middle of the park. he was the only player to look good under hoddle and that had nothing to do with the system. looking at the reserve team notes in the prog for the last few weeks i noticed rosa hasn’t been playing. i’d bet my season ticket that he has been dropped because his performances were getting too much noise. fair play to the little bloke motoring on quietly, not kicking up a fuss and he doesn’t even get 1 game. shocking management

Mick needs to take a step back and change his thinking. Stop picking donkeys and start using the right people in the right positions. If he can’t put out two wingers then he should look at the line up and be more imaginative. Failing to use the skill and experience of Rosa when he was in fine form was a huge mistake.
Mick was never my choice for manager but he did a good job last year. If he can’t move on from that then he should go.
All the calls for “Big Sam” are slightly worrying. His style of management is even less flexible and more defence minded than Mick’s. I couldn’t see Sam staying popular for long ‘cos we would be all over him like Mick after a few weeks!
We should take a moment to remember where we were 18months ago and give Mick some credit. Let’s see if he can get his mindset out of the rut he’s fallen into. Let’s face it, would you really want us to reach the Premiership this year?

When Mick turned up I thought what a refreshing change. A man who wears his heart on his sleeve and calls a spade a spade. Like everyone else we were delighted. I have stuck by MM all season, however, he now finds himself in a situation where the club is in real trouble and he is not adapting. If we carry on as we are we will slip periliously down the table.
Last season was fantastic. MM played talented, mostly home grown players, with some good acquisitions. A year on and his winning strategy has changed and he is sticking with players who are not delivering and not rewarding the youngsters who are desperate to play for the first team.
My suggestion is that Morgan approaches Paul Ince. Young hungry manager to handle young hungry players. A consistent strategy for the new owner of the club who has the opportunity to stamp his own mark.
Been waiting for the Chairman’s vote of support speech. Now MM’s days are numbered.

As an unbiased Baggie, I have to say your struggle this year is a little predicatble. MM has been a short term impact manager where ever he has been. I think I speak for all Wolves fans, that like McCarthy or not, IF ONLY he would change things around and not keep playing the same failed players match by match, give the reserve guys a chance and have some winning tactics, maybe just maybe this season could have a different ending? Unfortunately, Mad Mick only has the one songsheet and when he turned it over he found there was nothing on it, so what else could he do but continue as he always has done, boring the pants off everybody!
Personally I want Paul Ince to come back more than Big Sam because he typified for me the passion, desire, committment and winning culture this club needs. We have waited too long for any success to return to this once great club and unless something changes very quickly, it could turn out to be a very long time or even never!

I felt opptimistic after the new signing but saturday was worse than ever. Mick doesn’t seem to know what to do or how to stop the rot, so he’ll go at the end of the season.
To be fair with Mick, Wolves have been sliding down since Kightly was injured against the Baggies in November.
Wolves do miss the Kightly flair yet they simply have no punch up front.
The killer instinct is lost in the box despite the many strikers McCarthy bought.

Depressing watching the wolves at the moment and I agree that we really are not getting value for money at all.

I’m not happy about team selection either but am convinced we have some very good players in the overall squad. I do wonder how MM can continue playing players out of position. I do think it is unforgiveable to boo your own players as it can only make the team play worse. Some of you may hide your fragile egos behind the mask of bluster and machismo but the human psyche cannot cope with such vitriol as is spat out by some fans. And yes I do know it is a result of frustration but all fans are feeling this at present as I expect are the players and management. It must be a relief for them to play away from Molinieux at present. I have a feeling the team will soon climb out of this morass and it will be interesting to see the comments after a few good performances. No Sammy Lee or Allardyce please! We do need a couple of defenders to allow more midfielders to attack but if we get this and play the likes of Jarvis, Eastwood and Davies when fit I cannot see any better teams. I said Kites might suffer if he was rushed back too soon. The lad just wants to play but we may have to use some restraint unless we want him to develop continuing problems, the little gem. Being a Wolves fan is very hard but success, which will come, will be all the more sweeter. Out of darkness cometh light.
If Mick swallowed his pride and took stock he’d realise that his plan is flawed and he needs to bring in half of the reserve team and ditch the underperformers in the first team. Unfortunately I don’t see that ever happening. Wikipedia MM and you will notice the trend that appears throughout his managerial career….it’s quite frightening and before anyone pipes up saying he’s never had money at any club he’s been at, it’s not down to that, it’s down to tactics (or lack of) and players out of position

Forget going up this year- it ain’t gonna happen but we shouyld expect to see improvement over the coming months. Bothroyd has been rubbish, yet many of you fans who now slate him were the ones saying he should play when he wasn’t in the team, you know who you are.
Why any manager would want to come to us I don’t know, with fans like ours. Sam Allardyce has seen impatient fans and it’s known that ours are some of the most impatient. He will want to further his managerial carreer, much like Ince and wouldn’t want it ruined by our club.
Alex Ferguson was close to the sack at United and is a stubborn man, the board stuck by him and look where he is now.
I think MM might well get the sack, we will replace him with however will come and unless he is the fans first choice he will never be given a chance. The worse thing still is if it is the fans first choice he still won’t gain the support given by many teams fans if we go through a rough patch.
When I was at University I took many mates (supporters of other clubs around the country) to the Wolves with me. They pretty much all said that it was true how our fans got on our players backs really quickly and that you could see it clearly. I am very proud of Wolves, it is a shame the same can’t be said about some of our fans.

One of the reason why MM should go now is that the payers are playing out of position and the style of football is wimbledon 80’s style. Wolves fans deserve better than this. Why is he persisting on playing the favourites. Why is he not looking in the reserves to take a chance on other players to help the team. His blind loyalty to Stephen Ward is baffling as he is no better than “in my opinion Denis Rosa” The defence is slow, we know that but one of the reasons why we are out run in midfield is that the defenders we have are not equipped to take the ball out of defence and start to build an attack. What Collins & Ward are doing at the mo is huffin it to JB, by passing the midfield. Also Defence are too deep, in fear of been caught out by pacey forwards, which all wolves fans voiced their thoughts in the summer that the defence needed addressing. Wolves went for Machninie “I think that was his name” from Chelsea, Jose wanted him to play each week to gain exp, MM said to a “TWO WINNING CHAMPIONS LEAGUE MGR, TWICE PREMIERSHIP MGR” that he will only play if he impresses in training. Too me that is aggrogance beyond belief!
Ok the next 6 games are crucial to salvage this season. If we dont get at least 10pts out of it which is 3 wins, a draw 2 defeats, then the season is effectively over and MM needs to go!

Jay Bothroyd our best player? Are you in fact Jay Bothroyd and you are trying to defend yourself?
This guy is the laziest player we have at the club. Yes he has talent, but he goes missing far too easily and drifts out of position. He would rather have a spectacular effort from distance than work a chance closer to goal.
He also hates a tackle and acts like a baby whenever an opposition player dares attempt to get near him.
I also see that more people are backing Nathan’s view that Mick’s time is up than sticking with him.
MM has lost the plot and its time for him to be shipped back to Yorkshire.
For me - it’s the fact that MM seems to be content blaming the fans rather than looking at his own (rather obvious) shortcomings. He also seems somewhat intent upon destroying the relationship between players and fans.

Can we all take stock here? MM hasn’t suddenly become a bad manager, but is a man under extreme pressure starting to make fundamental errors.
It is interesting how our decline has coincided with Taffy’s demise from his duties. Our problem is coaching, not the players or the manager - we are playing negative, clueless football with no method and little shape No wonder we can’t score goals.
MM is in exactly the same position as GH was before him - he has been told by JM that he cannot make sweeping, wholesale changes to the backroom staff and has his hands tied, as did his predecessor. It is interesting how we have let Chris Evans go to Bolton to coach a Premiership team - I think if I had Terry Connor chosen in front of me as first team coach, I’d be off as well.

You are about the decline since Taffy left, the big question is, WHY? Obviously something or more like someone had spoken to him and he did not like what he heard so off he went and so have others, funny isn’t it? Terry Connor has clearly got influence at the club in some capacity, why else would he be one of the longest serving employees under so many managers but not helped in delivering more than 1 fruitful season?
Defeat at Scunthorpe and you really will start to wonder if he can hang on.

As i said earlier MM came with a long term plan to make us a better club, he over performed last season raising expectations, the input of new money has further heightened expectations. We are going through a bad patch at the moment which i beleive that we will pull through this together and at least make the play offs. Mick deserves at least to see the season out and the team should be supported not scared stiff to play.
By all means vent your frustrations but no one on here is as qualified as MM no matter how often you stand down the park shouting ‘MAN ON’ and ‘TIME’.

On a serious note I think Mick deserves till the end of the season. If results don’t pick up Moxey and Morgan could pick candidates they will approach ready to give the new manager the closed season to put his stamp on the team.

Nathan Mc,arthy had no pressure at all LAST SEASON he has come into this season with a stubborn pig headed attitude this and knows he has the backing of the wolves board, it’s taken since the start of the season when most fans pointed out the obvious positions that needed strengthning for this one, but Take note we are expecting a remarkable turn around in fortunes now it seems at last it’s hit home. NO wolves fan can argue a case for mc arthy for not being sacked After all we are the lowest scorers in the division What a mess!!!
what the hell is wrong with people, what will sacking the manager half way thru the season do, we had some poor results in january last year culminating in losing to sandwell town, after which we had an amazing run as we probably will this year when kightly and craddock are back fit and with the new signings adding a bit of a mix up. But mick is annoying me keep playing bothroyd when he is obviously only good for coming on towards the end of a match to score the winner.

To those that are disagreeing with Nathans criticism of Karl Henry. I think you’ll find that he’s not a right winger and therefore, Nathan is right to disagree with him being fielded on the right.
I think we’re severely missing McIndoe and Kightly’s influence on the wings. I don’t want McCarthy to go because he was so close last year, but he’s got a lot wrong this year. I think his man management skills leave a lot to be desired, as does tactical knowledge at times. This doesn’t make for a good combination!

What you seem to forget is that MM has made this position his own, I mean he has put himself in this position.
You should recall that before the season and during the first 5 games MM said “we are aiming for a top 2 finish, automatic promotion is the target this season”
Now correct me if I am wrong but he also repeated those comments when we had a little run of games and other clubs had their “bad” patches. We sat in third position 3 points off top spot.
Since then we have taken 4 points out of a possible 24.
Judge him by the targets he has set himself - I agree he needs to see this season out as we could possibly win the majority of our remaining games….I doubt it but it could happen.
What I hope doesn’t happen and this terrible form continues and we nosedive into a relegation fight - BECAUSE on present form this team does not have the bollocks to get theirselves out of trouble.

Great blog and very timely. Can we not vent our natural frustration with recent performances here and not take it out on the team every home game? One of the differences between this and last season is expectations - namely our raised expectations. After a great half season in charge and finally an injection of new money, what were the blogs saying at the start of the season? We’re going to walk it… Let’s spend £m’s on this player or that player… Why does every Wolves manager since Bully was banging the goals in struggle? Look at Newcastle and you see the same thing. I mean, I’m as frustrated as anyone, but the man’s been in charge for 1 year, and in half of which he did wonders. We drive him out now, and no quality Manager in his right mind would take over. On the pitch, we’re missing a leader like Breen and inspired play from Kights. Get both back fit and on form and the results will pick up.
i read this blog with interest i do not wish to gloat as an albion fan but i would like to raise another issue that of e and s reporting. a very good intelligent friend of mine and wolves season ticket holder for 25 years plus said bothroyd was a complete waste of space and i have read many comments on here to back him up however opening the e and s on monday i was amazed to see swain giving him a 7.5 and the man of the match award and another half page on how you should have won 6-0 are so many of you wrong and him right i doubt it? surely the pro wolves and especially pro mcarthy brigade at your newspaper need to start printing correct accurate reports on matches rather than trying to paper over the very big cracks!

Remeber the premiership we had some great atmospheres and pulled out some great results, punch way above our weight and class, it wasnt that long ago!
Mick is trying to get out of the Championship with 2nd & 3rd division players. Yes, you can keep buying at that level and you will of course eventually unearth some talent, aka Kightly and Foley, but you have to have the courage to get rid of the unproven ones. Look at the teams going for it. Most have bottom level of premiership type squads at least.
Mick has the basics of a very good team, he now needs to blend in some real quality, otherwise the young lads are going to be destroyed and then be of no use to anyone.
We dont need a resignation, a total rethink on personnel strategy would be useful, he does seem to have some good players he wont play, perhaps now is the time to swallow his pride and give them a chance, they cant be any worse

As much as I disagree with a lot of his decisions it looks as if Steve Morgan is right behind him so in that case the true fan will have to get behind the team and MM for the rest of the season. Leave Paul Ince to complete his first promotion to go on his CV and then if we have failed at the end of the season lets go for him.
In the meantime let’s get behind MM and the boys and lets get back up that league. We all know that the players we have, plus any new signings, should have the quality to get our season back on track.
Let’s get rid of our “fickle” reputation and show the rest of the football world that WWFC, when we all stick together, are “By far the greatest team the World has ever seen”.

I would like to hear from other people what they think about the treatment Freddy Eastwood has received since he joined the club. Why doesn’t he start a game, mm has not given him a chance to prove what he can do just because he doesn’t put a shift in. He should stay in the box and get onto the end of some crosses or corners delivered by Keogh, then perhaps he would have a better chance of scoring. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE MM start Freddy!
