Sherjill MacDonald has vowed to be Mr Versatile after completing his permanent move to Albion.
The Dutch striker signed a two-and-a-half year contract after a £200,000 deal had been agreed with Apeldoorn.
MacDonald believes he can bring his quality to other areas as he competes for a place among Albion’s logjam of strikers.
“My quality as a player is to run past people,” said the 23-year-old.
“As a striker you can do that, but you can also do that on the left and it’s a role I enjoy. I can see myself playing there. I like that role.
“At the moment I’m happy because the players and the team are both doing well so I have to wait for my chance.
“But I’m someone who needs games and the more I get, the more I will improve.
“The last year I’ve learned a lot about English football and I’m still learning. I hope this year I can bring my quality forward.
“It’s different to where I’ve played before. Football in England is so much faster than anywhere in the world.
“So it’s always going to be harder to play here, but I’m trying to adapt.”
MacDonald revealed Albion won the race for his signature over several other clubs.
“There were a few clubs looking at me,” he said. “I did well in Holland, so I was confident about that, and a few in England because I’d done well in the reserves.
“But I like it at West Bromwich and wanted to stay here. I didn’t really
consider the other clubs as this is where I wanted to stay.
“I like England. It’s similar to Holland. Similar weather and a similar country so I feel very at home.”

Goodo…now score us a goal, eh Cheryl?!
“Sherjill MacDonald”
I sense there is something colonial about this guys name?
He can run past people - thats good… but not exactly “versatile” is it ?
He can fetch the water, clean the boots in fact any odd jobs need doing he’s your man
Is that WITH the ball or not
Yeah wolveswolves, he can fetch the water, clean the boots, do any odd jobs, but more importantly he could probably give your creativity starved midfield a new dimension!
I hear they’re renaming Wolves to Team-Kightly anyway?
Didn’t he disappears years ago
4.He is a lot cheaper than Eastwood and he only carries out the same duties as Sherjill.
Come back Happy_baggie,we miss you!NOT.Isn’t it funny how you crawl back under your pebble when the Wolves have some positive news? You are a dipstick!Enuf said.
4.You spent £1mill on Eastwood to carry out the same duties
9 - and you are a moron… and its funny how you come onto our pages when you (finally) have something positive to cheer.
I have already posted on another page to say the SEB signing looks very positive. Unlike some I am prepared to post win or lose, good or bad - where are you lot when we win 5-0 ?
Signing the centre forward from Plymouth is a big step for you guys - a real red letter day… it would be churlish of me to spoil it for you.
Why do the dingles constantly post irrevelant comments Albion?
They’re bloomin obsessed with their more illustrious neighbours!
I couldn’t give two hoots with who they sien, who they don’t and what results they achieve..well, them losing constantly is quite pleasant..
Baggies fans.
Why the negativity about this lad, I expect it from the imposters on here. I accept he has a lot to learn but you don’t get Thierry Henry for £200K. he seems to have a good attitude, a little encourement wouldn’t hurt.
Happy-Baggie…..you didn`t reply when I complimented you lot on your win against 10 man mighty Scunthorpe. eh
I really think that Sherjill has the potential to be a great player in this Albion side. I just hope that Mowbray gives him a chance to start 2 or 3 games in a row so that other baggies fans can see his ability. Substitute appearances are not enough, given the chance, he will destroy defences. Anyone agree?????
waste of time the dingles signing any new players why mad mick is still there cos he will only knock all the confidence out of them, just look what happened to poor old freedy eastwood,so sorry wolves cant see any improvment for you lot under mm…
You are right Happy, the first day for ages that we have enjoyed more than you. So far we have signed two potentially starting squad members and have I think closed the gap betwen us at least a little. I have not yet given up hope of catching you despite the fantastic first half of the seson that you have enjoyed. A slight dip in your form, a few goals more for us ( or even a few goals for us ) and we might just have an end of season to remember.
On a different subject I won’t name my Albion 10 but it would have to include Ronnie Allen, Bobby Hope and The Bomber, perhaps my three favourite Baggies.
Cor blimey don’t these dingles crow about a second rate signing, Ebanks whoever is not going to save your season, especially when Mad Mick gets the call from the paddy’s and toddle’s off back to the Emerald Isle for the Guinness again.
Sherjill is a good signing and deserves a few starts, give him some confidence and with his pace he will frighten some defences.
Still feel we need a keeper as a priority however Keily did keep us in the game at Charlton but his kicking is akin to Mr Hoult’s, worrying to say the least.
Apart from that I think we are reasonably well equiped to carry on the good work achieved so far, a few more points away wouldn’t go a miss and please Zolt’s, sign that contract!!!!
Keep the faith, Boing Boing
But he has a farm and a fast food restaurant chain !! Lets hope he is a donkey off that farm !!
I think Sherj could be good for us. He’s improved the more he’s played, and that’s always as bit-part sub appearances. He’s got a bit of pace about him, and with a decent run of games, a bit of confidence he could cause a problem for defenders in this league. Let’s give him a chance…
Just to clarify my comments in post 3:
It was not a dig at macDonald as his pace is a great quality, more a knock at the headline as i can’t see in the article where the versatility comes in… not saying he isn’t versatile, just no mention of it in the piece itself.
I agree with nobbys nuts come on now you have a contract and start scoring goals.
Bags of pace, can beat a man, 23 years old, 200K, what’s the problem?. I’m ashamed at some of the comments posted about this lad from Albion Fans can’t anyone else see the potential in this lad?. You can work on finishing and crossing etc but you can’t give an athelete natural blistering pace and this lad has it to burn. I think this is a good signing for the money and I think when he reaches his peak in about another 3 or 4 years we will have a very good player on our hands. He just needs games and an injection of confidence. After all how often has TM got it wrong?.
Keep the faith!!!!!!!!
11. calm down calm down happy baggie it’s only words……
words can’t harm u…..
just take it on the chin and move on…….
Have a good day tomorrow
waste of money for you
Worcesterwolf.
Is this a wish or a hope, as I dare say you’ve never set eyes on him. You sad little person.
