Wolves manager Mick McCarthy today called on fans to lay off striker Stephen Elliott – or risk leaving their team ‘a man down’.
The Molineux boss is worried that further boos from the stands could wear away at the Irishman’s confidence and damage Wolves’ hopes of building a promotion challenge in the second half of the season.
“There’s no point dressing up what happened when he went on for Andy Keogh against Sheffield United,” said McCarthy.
“Whether the crowd were booing my decision to take Keogh off, which was based on the medical issue, or the fact that it wasn’t Freddy Eastwood going on, I don’t know.
“Whether it was all at me or there was an element at Stephen as well, if we’re not careful we’re going to be a man down.
“It will affect him and we might lose the strengths of a very good player and it’s not right. I’ve seen that at other clubs and never thought from last season it would happen here, but I was really disappointed with that reaction.”
McCarthy has again leapt to the defence of summer signing Elliott, who remains the club’s leading scorer with four League goals in 11 starts.
And he is anxious to ensure that the former Sunderland player, who turned 24 this week, does not become a scapegoat for Wolves’ seven match winless run in the Championship.
“I’d hate to see that happen because he’s a brilliant lad and a very good player,” said McCarthy.
“I would sincerely hope he doesn’t turn out to be scapegoat for anything.”
Elliott received criticism for missing a glorious scoring chance at QPR, but McCarthy has again praised the forward’s performance at Loftus Road.
“I felt for him because he really has put a shift in – better than most – and doesn’t deserve that,” said McCarthy. “I was a bit surprised because I didn’t think our fans were like that.
“We all saw the support last season, to the incredible lengths that we lost 6-0 and had our names chanted.
“All the players are doing their best for the supporters and I would hope it doesn’t continue.”

Couldn’t agree more.
well go mick and takee elliott, neil collins, stephen ward, darren ward, darren potter and terry connor with you and none of you will get anymore stick !,to be honest none of the above are wanted at wolves anyway !
The guy is a battler and grafter but his goal tally is hardly what we need! im sure its the same case with all of our strikers! one in off his backside and im sure he will start scoring! i still remember that screamer he scored against us at molineux so i know he is capable!
Well said Mick !!!
You all be ashamed of booing Mick’s son like that !!!
The crowd were booing the swap of Ward for Keough when they didn’t know the facts behind the decision.
However,Mick as made one or two decisions that warrant the behaviour that Ward was subjected to.
a useful sub but freddy is better! I want to see freddy play with Keogh for 3 or 4 games! with elliot as a sub! That said I would liek to see young liam hughes given a chance as he is scorign a few goals!
Booing your team’s own players is bad enough, but when it is someone who puts in 100% effort like Elliot it makes it even worse. However, he has still scored more league goals than Freddy ‘Darling of the Molineux’ Eastwood, who looks like he couldn’t care less half the time. Isn’t the fans’ mentality funny?…
This guy is really mad
Promotion with your squad
If you wolves fans beleive that you are just as mad as MM
Still some of you in MM we trust
But Mick, he’s crap!!
Welln try and score a goal and we’ll stop moaning about him ….. infact, that goes for the whole team!
With a bit more creativity in the team you never know - we may start to score 2, 3 or .. no, let’s face it 4 is just a dream!!
you’d never of guessed mick has got his favourites, would you.
when you play for Wolves at Molineux you have to meet the expectations of the paying punters…its a basic law of football, you have to score goals if you are a striker,Its no good being a consistient contributor or wearing the shirt with pride and passion. If the word Striker follows your name on the team sheet that’s what people expect you to do, Strike (and not in the H Camara sense.)
If you don’t score well people will conculde you don’t do what it says on the tin and won’t purchase your product in the future!
I have got to admit, that i have never seen the point of booing players during the game, surely if you are going to vent your frustrations at the team or manager or Moxey or whoever, then if you have to do it (and i know people pay there money) then do it at the end of the game or use these boards to vent your spleen. Cant see it having a positive effect on the individual or team at all and can only make them play worse, if thats possible. Get behind the team during the match and before the game…having said that i must admit to aiming an obscenity or two at Ferguson and those lazy b*****d’s Paul Stewart and Kennedy in the past!!!;-) Never booed though!
so mick its going to be the fans fult for us not getting promotion because we dont like one player if he was that good why dont he score every week and miss so any chancse. remember the watford match first game of the sean how many chances did he miss we sould hv won and at qpr away i think he is the one stopin the promotion challange. now if freddy had sed the 2 him he would hv told him 2 go
willenhallwolves(2) i have never heard so much rubbish in my life! They are all wanted at wolves! Its fans like you who arent wanted! So shat it!
As usual Mick is right.
What possible benefit is derived from booing your own club’s players ? I am a supporter not a detractor!
Keep the faith.
I would NEVER advocate booing a player; it doesn´t help anyone bar the opposition. However, playing someone so obviously out of form as Elliott in a team that is also struggling for form (having seen him twice live and twice on TV over the past 5 weeks and followed the other matches on radio/internet) is - with regard to booing - a bit like leaving a box of matches in the presence of a four year old child. It might also have helped not heaving undue praise on him earlier in the season (”different class”). By the way: Have I missed something? MM questions the reason behind the booing, suggesting e.g. “the fact that it wasn’t Freddy Eastwood going on”… But he was already on, wasn´t he?
No excuse at all for booing! It’s just plain brainless and that is the problem. The booers haven’t the `nowse` to comprehend. Those of us who really care about our team and are not using it as an extension to our fragile egos know this. Those who boo have no understanding and are incapable of empathy, are lacking as human beings and will be unable to alter their sad attitude.
Ok, lets be fair to the lad. He hasn’t actually played that much this season, yet has scored more than any of our other strikers I think……….if anyone is going to get booed, surely it should not be him????? Or am I missing something? The lad can’t really help it if he never gets enough chances.
Some typical comments from the guys who would not know how to support a club if they tried.
Elliots had the same problems as the rest of the forwards, NO SERVICE. The only difference is he will hound you for 90 minutes and try and make the chances.
It’s NO GOOD booing our team it DOESNT help.
I agree with comments 5. & 6.

apart from everything else i’m sick of aqll the Wolves negativity…..
this is like the old Bhati Bro days……
I agree with Mick. If wolves are to get promoted this season or even in seasons to come the fans need to support the team and give confidence to the players. The manager needs to be given time to get wolves promoted. This whole boom and bust mentality is stifling any future success for the club. If it’s not Mick then it will be the next manager who gets it in the neck by a section of fans. Take a look at yourselves and ask yourself whether you are really contributing to the cause or simply inflicting your own negative personalities on the club.
well mick, firstly the decision was about keogh being subbed not elliot coming on. You know it really frustrates me when I spend thousands of pound a year watching wolves and any time we disagree with mick he seems to have a pop at us in his own way of course!!
the problem is mick your style of football is so drab you make the players look crap with the exception of henry, kightly, hennessy, maybe if we had some creativity in the centre of midfield we may see an improvment with elliot, granted he works hard but as a striker you have to score goals which he is not doing like the other strikers, give elliott a start instead of bothroyd then if you believe him in mick and if he starts to score the boo boys may stop, I don’t agree with booing players during the game but after the game if they really deserve then give some abuse and a good kick up the arse!!
I prefer him to Eastwood any day! Isn’t he our leading scorer? He runs his socks off aswell, compared to lazy Eastwood! Plus he can also score penalties as witnessed in the match against Burnley!
Well surely this is your own fault Mick !!!
Why play him upfront when you inform Stephen to play wide right and run round like a headless chicken ? (as in the Burnley game)
Hey Mick heres an idea tell “sleeves” to “get in the box” when a cross comes in (our distribution is pants though), or possibly get better service form our defence & midfield to him ?
No matter how bad a player is i do not believe they should be booed before they even get on the pitch let alone whilst there actually on it.
I actually think majority of this is down to MM. His handling of his strikers has been poor.
How can any of our strikers have any confidence when mm refuses to give any of them a decent run in the side. Players need to be playing regulary to get there form which then has a knock on effect with their confidence.
Im fed up of MM and moxey and certain players having a go at the fans and blaming the boo boys for players lack of confidence and poor team performances.Think they should all be looking at themselves. If we were playing good football and mm stopped picking average players over the one’s with more qaulity then there probably wouldn’t be so much booing.
One question MM? who’s fault is it that were playing crap and the players are low in confidence?
The fans or yours????
I think that the fans are not booing Elliot but are showing their unrest at McCarthy continuing to play a waste of space instead of Eastwood. The time has come MM to come out and say exactly what has happened between you and Freddie and the real reasons why he’s not playing. If you wont just sell Eastwood now, before its too late and use the money to bring in a proper goal scorer.
20 Mark B:
I fully endorse your comments RE: lack of service.
So as much as we all love Henry,Oli & Co, in terms some of you might understand, they ain’t “putting in a full shift” or playing as well as we know they can.
The front line IS starved & the buck must rest with the Midfield.
We sure could use a creative midfielder & a “Battler”.Someone in the Paul Ince/Alex Rae mould.
Paul Cook & Chris Marden were both lazy sods at times, but when they played to their full potential, Wolves were buzzing!
unfortunately stephen elliot is not up to the job. wish mick would give freddy a proper run and tell him to play a bit less deep - freddy is a lot more creative, lays the ball off well, moves well, creates shooting opportunities and but for the post he would have had a few more to his tally. Don’t like to say it Mick, but you seem to have your favourites and that is why everyone is getting so frustrated. Stephen elliot seems like a nice enough guy, i feel a bit sorry for him, but he’s not the answer to our problems at the moment.
I don’t like mass booing, it does no good.
If the booing was for Keogh going off, we weren’t to know he was ill (at the time).
Unfortunately, if you want a vociferous crowd when things are going well, you’re also going to get a vociferous when things are not going well. Sorry if players don’t like it. They need to toughen up a bit.
Alternatively the manager should step back and think about just why the crowd are booing certain players and stop being stubborn.
In principle have to agree with MM on this one but not just with regard to Elliot… we’ve got a lot of young players in the squad and the increasing negativity from the stands will effect them and ultimately cost us points and the players loyalty. I remember a poll in Shoot magazine from the 1970’s describing Wolves fans as the best supporters in England… shame that all seater grounds and two decades of false dawns have changed that. I’ve been a STH for years and never boo during the game no matter how frustrating things get, what’s the point?
Some of the comments here are unbelieveable. Elliot is our top scorer yet he has become a hate figure based on the miss at QPR. {i seem to remember eastwood missing a few sitters in some games aswell- but it was still- FREDDY, FREDDY, FREDDY} I also got the feeling at that match that had it been eastwood that had missed his name would still have been sung by the minority. Some of you lot- especially in the southbank need to stop singing eastwoods name every 2 minutes as it gives the rest of the players no confidence whatsoever. Look at kightly’s comments last week, if your not careful, youll be driving our best players out.
Nice one Willenhall !
If I made a press release, it would go something like, “Mad Mickt Should Muzzle it!”
In a statement earlier today Lee issued a broadside at Mad Mick, hinting that the holder of the LOWEST points tally in the history of the Premier league should rather focus on his erroneus team selection, than unruly sections in the stands, who, as anyone could plainly see, exist purely because of HIS team selection.
_______
seriously though, there does seem to be an air of hysteria at the minute, which certainly isnt helping the club. We shouldnt all be up in arms and booing and hissing, but im a firm believer that order stems from the top. Clearly Mick and Moxey havent a clue how to handle these kind of situations, and thats why it seems so chaotic.
time for change.
COME ON YOU WOLVES !!!!!!!!
Agree there is no point in booing players but it was for Keogh going off.But when it comes to people knocking players confidence i suggest you take a good long look in the mirror does Freddy ring a bell.Hypocrite.
I can’t believe all the earlier rubbish on this topic
Anyone who was there knew that the crowd were having a go at the decision to take Keogh off and not the one to bring Elliott on - At the time no one knew that Keogh was (allegedly) unwell i.e NO One was booing Elliott!!
MM in order for us to get back to the relationship we all had last year, you have to change your negative style of play - we need creativity in Midfield because with this lot we’ve got, even a forward line of Drogba, Berbatov and Rooney would struggle to score
Well said Mick.
Correct me if I am wrong but do not all our strikers have the same problem they cannot score at the moment.
I have said it before and I am becoming bored with the negativity of some of the fans.We need to get behind all of the players not just the strikers. You boo boys are not doing any good to any of them. If we are not careful the players will dread playing at home and it will affect the way they play.
For god sake we all want the same thing promotion, but we fans are supposed to be the twelve man not on the side of the visitors.
COME ON WOLVES FANS I AM AS FRUSTRATED AS YOU WITH THE WAYS THINGS ARE AT THE MOMENT BUT THE PLAYERS NEED OUR SUPPORT COME WHAT MAY. SCREAM, SHOUT DO WHATEVER BUT FOR GOODNESS SAKE SUPPORT THE LADS DO NOT BOO THEM.
It’s quite sad that the same fans who boo Elliott are the ones who voted the traitor Miller player of the year-yes, THAT Miller, now playing in Derby, near Scotland, who stood on the touchline or took the odd penalty for 4 months. I know which one I booed( the clue is, It wasn’t Elliott!)
MM have you ever thought that it wasnt the player the fans are booing but you, you clown for your decision. I totally understand that the fans didnt know about keoghs chest infection but its not the first time us fans have questioned your decisions ie team selections when you have quality young players who did ” a good shift” for you last season and now dont get a look in when you pick your favourites, S Ward. Wolves fans can only stomach so much, emotions overflow and this booing will happen. Now if you want to change it and change the team and give davies gobern rosa and freddy a run in the team.
Elliot must of been good last night, hey Mick?
I understand the comments he tries hard but we need goals! What’s the point of having two headless chickens on the pitch and no end product! Eastwood maybe lazy but he would find the goal for us. He was on a great run of scoring goals then got dropped (Sheff United Away) since then he gets a game here and there. Surely that dents confidence as well!
I personally don’t agree with booing but FYI Mick the people around me who did boo were angry that Keogh was subbed (they didn’t know at that point he was ill). A lot of problems on the pitch and fan frustration would be solved by signing a creative midfielder as anyone with half a brain knows that forwards need good service!
Looks like Mick’s off anyway according to all the papers and a few websites
its about time MM told these so called fans to stop the stupid booing, its not helping anybody. If anything its making a bad situation much worse. We at Wolves dont have an automatic right to success, every team in the land is aiming for that, lots of fans are in a much much worse situation then we at Wolves find ourselfs in. A bit of patience a bit of understandind and alot of supporting, is what is required. MM is a top manager, hes building a top team, all he needs is decent supporters, if this stupid booing continues, no one will want to come here players or managers. So lets get behind MM and the team, lets push them on to the premiership, not hold them back. UP THE WOLVES.
I agree with most comments there is no point booing during a game but at the moment plenty of reason to do so at the end of games. MM appears to have lost control of this situation by not using common sense. Surley everyone can see that we need creativity in Midfield to create chances and give 2 of the strikers (I don’t care which 2, MM is paid a lot more than me to mkae those decisions) a run in the team to get allow them to begin to score some goals and gain confidence. Then we would see a turn around in our fortunes the Booing owuld cease and we could try and rekindle the excellent atmosphere of the majority of last season.
you lot r really showing yourselves up!!!!! it wud’nt matter if we had zidane in midfield 2 create chances cuz the defence(term used very lightly!!) hoof the ball over their heads!!!! its all 2do with having calm defenders and also a crowd that boo’s everytime we try and keep the ball! if we continue 2 bo or slate our players for keeping the ball it doesnt matter who we hav in the middle of the park cuz they’ll “give in” to the mindless majority and hoof it! we’ll be a much better side when breen comes back, mark my words! sort ya selves out wolves “fans” or we’ll be at a point where alex ferguson cud’nt manage to turn us around!
I think Mick and Elliot are paying for the lack of success from past managers nothing personal
If you MM, or a professional information executive, had told the media before the match that Keogh probably was not fit enough to play the hole match, the audience would have known that it was a change occuring because of this and nothing else and everybody on the stands would have been happy with it and no boooing would have occured.
In other words: INFORM BEFOREHAND. ALL INORMATION DOES NOT HAVE TO BE A SECRET. BE MORE OPEN!
This shows Mick has his favourites! I agree with Laura (33) when he knocked Eastwood’s confidence by dropping him when he had scored in his first three games for us and then one for Wales and he also stating that Elliot and Keogh were his pereferred striking partnership at the beginning of the season. Once Elliot was fit.
What I have seen of Elliot this season, he adds nothing to the team and that miss against QPR was criminal!
Elliot should not have been signed in the first place. Instead the money should have been spent on a creative midfielder at the beginning of the season. Forgot Mick does not like to play them, he likes battlers!
were a man down anyway when he plays.
If he done the business we wouldn’t have to boo you fool!!!
Kiwi Wolffffffffffff
You be fair Mick! After the QPR game Mick said that Elliott had a great game. I and 2,500 other wolves fans were there and we all know he didn’t have a great game. Blind support of a player is as bad as booing one.
Ok, fair comment Elliot isn’t scoring goals but why does everyone seem to think that Freddy Eastwood is the answer to all our prayers?
Freddy Eastwood has produced absolutely nothing since he came to Wolves except get himself in the national press for a fight he had whilst he was back down south!
I went to the QPR game and hats off, Elliot missed a sitter but his overall display was exellent. A player like Elliot will, with a little confidence and support, produce the goods for us. The main problem is our uncreative midfield going sideways and backwards and then instead of the forwards making productive runs through the channels they have to come short and play in front of the opposition defence.
The answer for me is simple: 4 at the back, 3 across midfield and KEOGH playing just behind the front two to provide that killer pass!
We have attack minded players in the squad and I’m bemused as to why we just don’t play to our strengths and let the results take care of themselves.
As for Mick’s comment about Freddy coming on instead of Elliot, Freddy was already on, God help us!!!!
Well said mick, tho it shouldnt need saying at all !
In my opinion anyone who boos one of our own players are not fans of the club.
How on earth can booing a player make him play better or boost his confidence?
It can only damage, and in doing so is doing exactly the opposite of supporting !
In all honesty over the years ive vented my anger at times but i will never boo my team or any player that wears gold n black.
gold n black forever
29 spot on
MM get it right on the pitch and the booing will stop
carry on like it is and the 9/10,000 happy clappers are welcome to cheer on this rubbish, we pay a lot of money to be entertained
if I dont produce the work i would not mind being bood but in the real world i get sacked, so grow up and earn the big money you get paid along with the players, Fans are the club we will be here long after you have gone
If these so called players were just going through a bad spot O.K but this seems to be the standard
13/14 place this week if we lose and others win
really promotion material
mm you seem to be doing a lot of moaning thats all we are doing
stop talking up the crap players you brought into this squad
Oh, and to add to my comment 49. This formation would allow Stephen Ward to be on the bench.
This is his position, at best. Fair play to the lad he tries hard but a square peg in a round hole comes to mind.
What really concerns me is that MM has said that Ward is the find of his managerial career. This really is worrying if he actually means that.
What do you guys think of S.Ward ???
Booing goes with bad perforamnces or perceived bad decisions - that is why fans clap good play and cheer when their team scores. Up front without the movement of Keogh it would be static as Jay Both is too lazy (Why does he take corners???)ultimateley it is about scoring and elliot & bothroyd just don’t do it - the
proven scorer is Eastwood and at least he shoots and moves - the lack of movement though to me is down to the coaching of Terry Oconner (sorry conner of course he’s not Irish) i do beleicve we need a new coach because the lack of movement and options (compared them to Burnley) makes us look really bad and goal scoring oppurtunites will be very limited.
the whole team look like they are dreading molineux and last seasosn response to the team through encouredging paid dividends - so keep supporting wolves loudly and hating albion
Some of our our idiot fans opinions anger me more than any Albion fans could. Hate Elliot a player who gives %100 and idolise Freddy who does nothing. Logical?
when you pay 1m he injury prone and cant score what we meant to think??
he doesnt win headers
he doesnt shoot
if he does its never a goal
he never beats player
all he can do is hold the ball up and lay it off
how many shots can you say you see him have per game???
I see I. Osbourne is available for loan from Villa. I’ve seen him play and he a crackin little tenacious creative midfielder with pace.
Listen Mick, get him in before one of our rivals do.
With George off to the Aftican nations this is absolutely critcal and this kid is available today. Get him signed ready for Sat for C.Palace which is gonna be a tough game.
All together now “You don’t know what your doing !”
Always a sign of a manager on his way out when he’s taking cheap shots at the fans
I would suggest that the fans already realised that they were going to be a man down as soon as they realised Eliot was coming on, hence the booing!
Stop using the fans as a scape goat it happens at every club when players not doing it “SCORE GOALS”
He’s the worst player i’ve ever seen in my life, SHORT, NO STRENGTH, NO DETERMINATION, SLOW. what has he got goin for him? NOTHING. deserves to be booed..if he doesn’t like it he can go sumwhere else….PLZ
Score some goals then!!!!
Our main problem is the service to the strikers, the only attacking midfielders we have got are sitting in the reserves Davies, Rosa. Mick will always insist on playing two holding midfielders and I know Stephen Ward gives 110% every game but he is never going to be a winger. the strikers are not getting the service they need and it is shocking. Thankfully Kites came on Saturday otherwise we would have lost that game. Whats happened to Gobern? He had a brilliant start to his Wolves career last season and now after many injuries he is also stuck in the resrves!
The only bright point was that Jarvis and Kites look good on the wings Saturday so fingers crossed Mick sticks with them for the palace game Saturday!
Get a grip you lot, some fan’s give their team a twelth man with their vocal support (Sunderland) we take ours down to ten men at times, the Newcastle of the championship we’er being called, yes it is very frustrating at the moment and boy does it hurt but moaning and booing isnt going to help, visiting teams know this and play up to it cos of what we do to our team. Please think next time you want to vent your frustrations. MM isnt that bad and the team are only a few players short so c’mon let’s do our bit too C’MON ME BABIES, keep the faith.
Realist.
You can bet all the Mick out brigade were all at Chorley as well(not.)
PS I’m a Baggie. Not having a go at genuine Wolves fans (I’ve said before, I’ve much more respect for them than the MU glory hunters) but the empty vessels, we’ve got our share of them as well. I’ll go now before they all come on telling me to get back to my own site.
60.
If what you say is correct, you must have either recently got your site back, or (and what seems more likely) you must not have seen many games and do not posses any knowledge of football. I tell you what he has got going for him too, he isn’t you.
The majority of fans here deserve nothing but mediocrity, to match their small minds. Perhaps some of you could take a dose of your own medicine, if WWFC are so bad, go somewhere else!!
I never agree with booing players, and I am pleased that sites like this give an opportunity for fans to express their views in a different way. Having said that, the manager hears the boos but probably doesn’t read this site so how do fans express their views to the man that matters.
Stephen Elliot certainly hasn’t convinced me with his performances this season although he would always get my support more than Bothroyd because of the effort he puts in and also he does go into opponents penalty area - always a good idea for a striker in my opinion. I will admit for the first time in my life I did boo a wolves player in the Cambridge game when Bothroyd dived. This guy is not fit to wear a Wolves shirt.
How either Elliot or Bothroyd continue to be picked ahead of Eastwood is unbelievable though. There is no doubt in my mind that Wolves would have scored more goals if Eastwood was selected regularly and I think it is either a grave error of judgment by McCarthy or some personal issues that MM has with Freddy that has caused him to have so few opportunities to get a run of games.
Elliot - scored 3 works hard but not good enough
Bothroyd - scored 3 Lazy not good enough
Keogh - scored 3 good enough for the championship
Eastwood - scored 4 not been given a chance
Kightly - scored 4 will have a job to hold on to this guy
Ward - scored 0 played out of position not good enough
Steve bull scored 306 simply the best
Get real guys 24 goals for is an absolute disgrace from what were the favourites to go up. As I said last week this is the worst squad of players in 25 years.
It was the decision not the player that was booed. That said we have not got a true striker at the club. Eastwood looks a talent but clearly prefers to play deep and needs the target man/holding type forward to play off. Keogh, great effort but no goal scorer, Bothroyed some talent but something missing in the brain, Ward same as Keogh and Elliot simply not as good as before his injury, which means not good enough for this league. We need to offload all but Eastwood and get two proven goal scorers at this level. How about Andy Gray from Burnley as a start?
To be honest i think Elliot should shipped out on loan in an attempt to get more games & fitness levels up.
On Bothroyd………….
Is’nt it obvious MM is trying get rid of him during the window ?
Why else would he play the lazy sod week in & week out ?
Elliott has scored 4 in less games than Eastwood. Why are we banging on about Eastwood. He is out of his depth in this team.
Elliott is more experienced at this level and has real quality.
Let him play and get over the profile of Eastwood. Remeber Eastwood did not score for 5 months playing for Southend. It is not the first time.
ok, another excuse coming, MM will play Elliott, lose a match and blame the fans for not getting behind him..MM has more mouth than trousers.. knock it off! Look at yourself! Don’t suggest we are knocking the players, it you sunbeam we are knocking..you have shown this season to be a conman, trying to convince us its your players and then we have Moxey saying its the fans! As manager MM, YOU ARE the PROBLEM… go to Ireland or Korea or anywhere!
Golden Blood 71 - Eastwood’s average of goals per game at Championship level is 40%, Elliott’s is 29%. Bothroyd’s career average is 19%.
Steve Bull’s average was 54% but whether that would have been the case in a McCarthy managed team is another matter!
WE PAY YOUR WAGES SO WE’LL HAVE OUR SAY. IF YOU DON’T PUT HIM IN THE TEAM IN THE FIRST PLACE THEN WE WON’T START A MAN DOWN!
By the way MM capitals mean we’re SHOUTING! Thought you may not be computer literate
AND THIS IS COMING FROM A MANAGER WHO SAID HE WAS GLAD FREDDY MISSED CHANCES IN FRONT OF GOAL.
MM YOU ARE A HYPOCRITE
I have nothing against Eliot and Mick thinks the booing was aimed at elliot. It wasn’t, it was aimed at you Mick for taking Keogh off instead of Bothroyd. We didn’t know he was ill, but he was still playing much better than Bothroyd.
MICK YOU IDIOT!!!
spot on steve bull stand
time for a change
60 spot on
Bottom line…
Elliott is useless, simple as.
well mm you bought the player to the club, The transfer window is open and you are looking at signing more strikers which seems to me that you are not happy with the signings that you have made so if you were a fan of a club would you be happy ?
Hnads up, I BOOED!
But I know I shouldnt have. Not aimed at Elliot, but taking Keogh off more.
the other thing mm is that if you sign a player as a striker play him there not on the wing because of his pace because he his less effective that way.the truth in the matter is that you had a team of young hungry players last season then got into the play offs great. spent money the closed season and less the young hungry players where are we now you have to look at your tactics instead of your c.v.
In response to willenhall wolves i could not agree more well said,is mm trying to tell us what football is, he has not got a clue and so why doesnt he and moxey sod off.
If McCarthy picked his best available eleven the situation would never arise, Elliot should not be in the team. Forget all this 100% effort talk, any Sunday morning park player would put in 100% it does not make him good player.
Sooner Mick goes the better.
So called fans who ‘boo’ their own players are a total disgrace and lower the tone of Molineux. If Elliot was a world beater he would not be with us. he is, however a good player who tries very hard and who requires a better midfield than we have. Put Elliot in Tesco’s team and I bet you he would score.
I think the real fans should remember that all it takes for morons to dominate is for the decent people to remain quiet. Lets start telling the stupid boo boys to sod off when they begin. Peer pressure is very strong.
We are all disappointed but if we love the club, we should support the players and managers efforts. It is so encouraging to opposition players to hear the crowd turn against the other team.
I am so fed up being in the championship but the club is great. Everyone should send an E-mail to the club encouraging Elliot and the others.
To the boo boys remember…… THE PRICE OF YOUR TICKET DOES NOT ICLUDE THE RIGHT TO BE OFFENSIVE< INSULTING OR DEROGATORY TO DECENT YOUNG MEN WHO CARE.
If you want to be offensive then do it when looking in a mirror…
I really hope that some of you don’t go to Molineux. Willenhall Wolf, lee etc etc you are talking out your a**e. What do you know ?? I’m a paying punter and all of that. Try to go to away games when I can but go to EVERY home game as I have for 9 years. I have never and will never boo the Wolves. I remember Elliott scoring a cracker against us last year on a rain sodden friday night I think. Had us talking then didn’t he. Bet you wasn’t there tho cos it was a little wet for you. Why don’t you try growing up and supporting your team like a proper supporter rather than a spoilt little brat. As for us proper fans, every team goes through bad patches. Lets keep going and get the lads out of it. COME ON MM AND THE BOYS. YOU CAN DO IT !!!!!!!!!1
You shouldn’t pick on any player because of a few misses. Without any shadow of doubt the Wolves player who missed the most chances in our entire history was one Steve Bull. When he arrived he was missing about ten every game. A slight improvement brought success 306 times. Who knows what might happen?
68 - That is just plain stupid. No way is this the worst squad we’ve had.
Why do so many people here enjoy talking things up and making them worse.
For God’s sake, support the team.
David
I am a Mick McCarthy fan but I’m afraid Elliot just doesn’t cut it. McCarthy decided to ship Frankowski off to Tenerife then months later he brought his identical twin into Molineux in the guise of Elliot yet with less ability than the Pole! Sorry Mick you have made a mistake and admit it! Stop persisting with him and give Eastwood a prolonged run in the team.
He should not be telling fans to be opinionotive. Anyway Sam Allyrdyce has just resigned as Newcastle boss
Well if Elliott did what he was employed to do which is to score goals then he wouldnt get booed would he!!! Another one of micks favourites, he comes on one week and has a go at freddy and then another week he protects Elliott. Mick needs to go!!
When will the players and management
stop telling the say I upporters what we should or should not think. We help pay your damn wages and will be here supporting the club long after you have moved on,so do us a favour and shut the hell up.The day you pay to watch the inane crap we have been served up all season will be the day when we listen to their pathetic opinions. We are entitled to our opinion so don`t bother with the lectures.
hmm this stinks a bit of pot and kettle - comments such as:
The Molineux boss is worried that further boos from the stands could wear away at the Irishman’s confidence and damage Wolves’ hopes of building a promotion challenge in the second half of the season.
and
“It will affect him and we might lose the strengths of a very good player and it’s not right.
wasn’t it MM who destroyed Eastwood’s confidence by leaving him out whilst he was scoring just cos he didnt run enough and then compounded the damage by announcing to the world that he wasn’t 1 of Wolves’s top 2 strikers - talk about destroying players confidence and wrecking the promotion challengs - look in the mirror MaCarthy!!!!
Get lost Elliot and take Muppet Micky with you. BIg Sam or Paul Ince NOW!
34. agree totally with your comment on the players confidence and people being Hypocrites(MM destroying Freddy Eastwoods confidence)
37. How can you call Miller a Traitor. It was his goals that got us in the Premiership. He left at the end of his contract so whats wrong with that.
However on the booing side of life, we need to get behind the team during the 90 Mins and then if you are not happy, go and protest outside of the ground, don’t give McCarthy an excuse to have a go at the loyal fans who have been supporting this team through thick and thin.
C,Mon the Wolves, Keep the Faith
MM brought this on himself..eastwood who scored goals isnt given a run but if ur irish of ex sunderland and are willing to run around ur in the team..we should never boo a player for our own team however but the booing was at the taking off of keogh not at elliot!! wed of prefered eastwood on thats all..but like i said he aint goot enough to play for wolves despite being the only player who looks like he can make anything other than kites… on the plus side keogh is lookin sharper and kites is back.. i dont understand why he doesnt give eastwood 6/7 games..if he doesnt score the fans will make the feelings known..leaving him out only gives fans more reason to moan and whinge.. and if we dont go up it aint the fans fault MM..never thought ud be one to blame others or point the finger!
A Footballer slif is tough enough without being boo’d …..or is it
Monday
A Footballer life is tough enough without being boooo’d….or is it? lets see

Saturday - talk tactics play 45 minutes talk tactics play another 45 minutes
So stop booooo, ing those brave little soldiers
it was the decision to drag off Keogh that got the crowd booing …he was the only 1 on the pitch doing any work , i know MM said he was injured after , but he looked ok to me ,& his body language when he came off suggested wasn’t best pleased, don’t rate Elliot , lack of goals ,missed chances ,link up play ,not up to scratch,at least Freddy can hit a ball !!
Boring same excuses from a slowly growing boring manager!!! Yes Mick im bored! Season ticket holder in the South Bank for god nows how many years! and im SICK of being told that WE.YES WE loyal fans cant air our views on under achieving players? Tell you what Mr Mcarthy, swop places with us LOYAL fans, and keep your mouth shut!!! NO thought not! you just carry on booting your water bottle when things aint going right, and lets see how many more under achievers you can sign, and keep backing!!!
If we keep booing him he might let up on his blistering finishing and then where would we be.
As for his tremendous work rate, these are professionals being paid an obscene salary to do a job. He’s employed to score goals. Not run around like a headless chicken missing sitters (QPR in December).
It’s not going to help us jeering him but at the same point when we don’t he still doesn’t score.
Hey , Muppet Mick, shouldn’t you be off touring with Fred Karno’s
Elliott is abysmal, as is the manager, as are the “tactics”.Time to go.
How dare you take a cheap snide remark at teh fans, they are the ones who can see you are a failure.
Clear off before the end of the window.
Allardyce in!!
17 - No, Eastwood wasn’t on. Unless my memory is completely faulty Elliott replaced Keogh and Eastwood came on later.
Mick says that the booing will affect Stephen if it carries on. Would that mean he might not score so many goals?
Keogh never scores, but puts in a shift, and is everyone’s darling. We don’t need the shift, we need goals. Play lazy Freddy week in week out and we’d at least be getting goals. MM ruined Freddy.
For those who think they pay to watch therefore deserved to be entertained…WAKE UP!!!! Wolves don’t owe you a thing. If you are a true fan, you never boo. Period.
For some reason people blame Elliott because Eastwood is crap. Elliott is our only in-the-box striker and our only striker scoring at a regular basis. Eastwood has not scored for 20 games and still people think he is our best goalscorer. What a farse. Wake up, for good sake, and stop blaming Eastwoods miserable performances on Elliott. And stop telling lies about what happened back i September. Eastwood got out of the team because he was clearly off form and had not scored for three full games. Then came the nightclub incident and after that Eastwood has not scored for more than 1000 minutes of playing. Must be the worst signing ever and it is very very strange he can get chance after chance in the starting lineup without producing anything. Play Elliott week in week out and we will get more points although he is not a great player. A new real striker is of course preferred but until we have him we cant boo our best striker.
I have seen this so many times since I have been supporting Wolves. Everyones frustration builds up to the point where fans argue with each other as a result of the poor performances of the team.
Fact is we don’t entertain, don’t score goals, we are not creative, we have no flair, we have just gone through a run of league matches against teams from the bottom of the league and not won any of them.
There are two things every club should strive for - success and entertainment. We are failing on both scores. Whether we play Elliott, Eastwood, Keogh or Bothroyd isn’t the main issue for this club. The issue is when will we change manager so that we can be either successful or entertaining or ideally both.
Its not going to happen under McCarthy.
