Nice to see rumours circulating about Micks replacement, he’s a dead man walking now after the last few weeks.

    Yeah, but Sammy Lee!

if offered 4m for hennessey and sell on clause it would be mad not to accept it. good prospect but every player has a fee. if we did sell why not get stephen bywater of derby if they looking at sorenson. i think he out of favour at the club and would be better replacement.

as for kightly, he wont go anywhere! till the summer then he will move on. we cant stop him really, unless we somehow went up. all the big players in this league seem to get a move after 1-2seasons no matter how many times the clubs states that player is not for sale. so maybe a deal involving routledge?? if gobern can be fit for summer that we already got replacement

as for sammy lee, liverpool link always coming due to morgan. i dont want lee at wolves but… qpr didnt want this italian bloke, norwich didnt want roeder, they both seem to be doing well so far. if ince isnt available if mick went i dont know where we would turn? i would fancy johnson of bristol c. but would he come??

How many Wolves fans have got hearts in mouth this morning, if you go by Saturdays performance if Kightly goes your seasons over & with the apparent off field problems whatever they are, it’s not beyond the realms of fantasy.

“”"”HAVE FAITH MICK & THE TEAM WILL TURN IT AROUND,SACK MICK & YOU CAN FORGET ANY CHANCE OF PROMOTION THIS SEASON!!!!!”"”
WE NEED TO BRING IN QUALITY PLAYER’S IN NOT DISMANTLE A TEAM WE’RE TRYING TO BUILD!!!.

sammy Lee !! What a joke , I would like anyone who reads this site to give me a list of what smmy lee has achieved in management apart from holding the record as the worst premiership manager ever. This surely cannot be true? If this happened i would return my seson ticket immediately, I am getting increasingly concerned that nothing is happening in the transfer window yet surely we must have had players lined up to come in? I will say something now, at least 3 players will join sunderland this week and you can guarantee that we will get one or 2 of these cast offs. We as a club are in no better position than when sir Jack left, we are if anything going backwards and when palace turn up next week i fesar the worst after our incipid display at the weekend. I think steve morgan needs to come out in the press and state to us execatly what the hell is going on here, one very fed up season ticket holder

Sammy Lee would be a disaster, What a great spell he had at Bolton when put in charge. I think this is a rumour to get us to back McCarthy, as we would much rather have him than Sammy Lee.

If they have lined up Sammy Lee what message would that send to McCarthy and the team. i think it is utter tripe for the press to spread things like this.

One thing though if they did go for him they would not break Wolves wage structure as you could probably get him for a grand a week and it would continue Wolves proud History of a club with no ambition.

As for Hennessy and Kightly then they have been getting tracked since the beginning of the season. If we are building a team for the future then these are two of the players we need to keep. If we sell, then its another clear indication that the club has no ambition and that money to the boardroom comes before team affairs. Then again there would be one winner if they got sold and that would be Moxey as he seems to take a significant share of any transfer income.

    Enough said.

C’Mon You Wolves, Keep the Faith

good point, i hate it when fans and boards get managers sacked after, for example, 10 bad games. They have usually served the club very well in the past as well but this all seems to be forgotten when no one wants to take blame. Its a ridiculous business decision on the suits half and I’m gobsmacked it happens so many times.

wolves’ fans expect too much. when will they realise their players are average championship players that will do well to even get into the play offs?? they was a one season wonder last yr and the true pride of the black country showed them who is best FOUR! times. who would want to come to wolves with the way the fans are????? booing your team for not beating teams YOU should think you should beat? well face it its a dog eat dog league and you will lose games to silly opponents so stop expecting big things because you are not good enough!! and no big name superstars are guna come to the annual shingading custard bowl until you stop getting on their backs or are in the prem (which is guna b w8in a long time!) you should be gratefull for what mcarthy has done else you could be going to elland road again this year!!!

  10. we8wba said:

i hope mick turns it around id rather see him succeed than not. but im starting to wonder on him. would you really give mick 10m??
everyone knows when mick has ever had big transfer budget he makes silly purchases.

    i would buy following

    bywater - derby - keeper 2m
    e.ward - cov - defender 1.5m
    routledge - spurs - winger 1m
    whelan - sheff weds - midfielder 500k
    misfuid - cov - striker 2.5m
    total - 7.5m
    sell
    bothroyd 500k
    hennessey 3.5m
    total 4m

so turnover off 3.5m Which isnt so bad to get us out of this mess

i wouldnt look to sell hennessey when im saying this, but i will say if we get offered 3.5m+ ACCEPT. you dont need the best keepers in this league and replacement can be got dead cheap or better keepers cheaper to

Posting in caps doesn’t make your message any LOUDER, likewise neither does hitting the keys harder. On a more serious note, being totally honest, no one at the Albion was over the moon when Gary Megson pitched up as manager. Not saying that Sammy Lee is the answer, just that you shouldn’t write people off as a knee jerk reaction. Don’t forget, 18 months ago MM was the Messiah, now he’s just a very naughty boy.

  12. Michael Pearce said:

Wolves are two points off the same time last year from the same games, so we’ve lost quite a few points. The loss of Breen, Craddock and Kightly were massive blows but whats all this about sacking McCarthy? WHY? Sammy Lee…..behave, you might as well go back and get Sammy Chung. It hasnt been so long ago since we almost went out of existance! REMEMBER THAT? It’s a sport not just a business, that’s what’s killing the game. Chill out you put undue pressure on the Manager and the players with all this soft talk.

Re Saturday´s report of an offer of £ 500.000.- for Brann´s left back Erlend Hanstveit: One of the local newspapers in Bergen yesterday claimed that Wolves have not seen Hanstveit play and that they rely on the word of a Danish agent. “I have sent them two videos and they rely on my word”, the agent allegedly says, also stating that in his opinion EH is the best left back in Scandinavia. The newspaper also claims to know that Wolves´s “first” offer for Hanstveit will be turned down.

Fine lets give Mick a contract extension for doing such a good job then (I just love these 0-0 matches.)
In two years time we’ll be lucky to be in the championship with him as a manager.
I for one don’t want to be going back to the lower leagues.

Agree with the comments on Sammy Lee but to be honest anything is better than the rubbish being served up at the moment.

If Scott Carson is valued at £10 Million and Craig Gordon went for £9 Million. What is the true value of Wayne Hennessey?

He is the Welsh number 1 and already has countless clean sheets domestically and internationally to his name including that one in Germany.

    He can only get better!

If reports of £4 Million is to be believed then an additional £4 Million in add-ons seems fair to me!

i couldnt agree more micheal. it is a business now that is ruining football. but i do belive without hennesey this year u lot would be in a worser position because some of the saves he as made this year av got u a lot of points as ur defence is AWOL alf the time. but morgan needs to spend for u lot as the squad u av got is just not good enough. look at us ow much we av spend this year no real big amounts of money but we are top of the league. you dont need to spend huge amounts to be succesfull. look at the gary megson days. andy johnson 200,000 i fink it was darren moore 500,000 people like that and we got up.

    what i will say is…

wheres the improvement from last year??

we should be annoyed being 3rd and 2pts of 2nd to going 10th and 10pts off

start last season for bout 2months we had likes craig davies, jamie clapham and many youngsters in whilst this year we have several pros dispite of the injuries

All the fools calling for Mick’s departure should take a good look at themselves now - and realise that getting rid of Mick wouldn’t necessarily bring in the ‘Messiah’ Paul Ince, but much more likely someone like Sammy Lee, or even Souness or Steve McClaren…

…and if you really think ANY of those would be better than Mick, you’re really deluding yourselves.

15: I think it’s abit early in Hennessy’s career to be slapping a price tag like that on him, I agree he’s has shown lots of potential during his short time replacing Murray, but there is still some nurturing & maturing to do on his behalf reference a couple of silly mistakes that have happen lately.
I do think he will develop into a very good goalkeeper in time, but a question to you is, When Matt Murray is fit who would be your number 1? if your answer is Murray then how much are you saying he is worth?

  27. wolves said:

no no no not sammy lee of god what will happen to out club if that turns up as manager come on mick turn us around and win win win

We are the Newcastle of the cHampionship. How far has it got them to keep moving theier managers on - NOWHERE!! Mick is a good manager. When things are not going well we should be getting behind the team and manager to help improve confidence. INSTEAD WE ARE ABOUT AS MUCH SUPPORT AS A BROKEN LEG!!

WE don’t need to get on the Newcastle roundabout. We need to get off it. If Scott Carson is worth £10m the WH is worth more.

GET JOE LEDLEY, A DECENT STRIKER ANOTHER WINGER and DEFENDER. JOB DONE!!

AND LETS SUPPORT THE TEAM AND MANAGER!!

If money is no object (promised £30 million), they should be released under no circumstances.

  31. Dudzie Wolf said:

    6. rollercoasta - Who has the worst premiership managerial record? I beg to differ on that one. Ask any Sunderland fan.

You have really set your sights high, be as good as Albion…Whats wrong with being as good as lets say Reading or Portsmouth for now then move on from there, at least they are in the Premiership. With all due respect to Albion they have not been promoted yet and have the same points as Bristol City. So on that level, do you want us to be as good as Bristol City. You should have gone to Specsavers. Believe me, Kightly has saved Muppets job. He would have been sacked on Saturday 100% because no one else we have would have turned the game around. Under this clown we are a one trick pony because he won’t drop his favourites even when they are playing so very badly

  32. Kent Wolf said:

Sammy Lee? No thanks. Sam Dingle would do a better job!

  33. we8wba said:

    20 - neither

but if to pick the current wolves matches and hoddle days i would rather go and support chasetown

lets face it shows how far down mick has come after last year if we was asking the question

last may we would all left at you, but now people take the question seriosuly

  34. Cardiffwolf said:

Sammy Lee would be an absolute disaster and I just cannot see Morgan doing that. Morgan still needs to prove himself at the moment and such a high risk appointment would make no sense at all. Ince, Billy Davies or even Mike Newell if we need a scouse link would be better.

We do not know what’s going on. Does Mick have proper transfer targets - players that can move us forward that are being worked on, has he run out of ideas, or is Morgan refusing to back Mick’s recommendations in the transfer market?

One week into the transfer window and we still haven’t signed anyone despite the need to do so being crystal clear. Why is that?

  35. Southbank S5 said:

Whilst MM seems to be frustrating us all with his team selection, you have to admit that some of the poor performances of late, the players should bear some of the responsibility. Performances have been below par in comparison with our ‘over-achieving’ last season.

Sacking MM is clearly not the answer, and Sammy Lee is not the answer. Patience is what we must have and we MUST start getting behind the team. Booing never did anyone any favours.

  36. fast start said:

When some talk about getting behind the team well as a Season ticket holder for more than 25 years i feel i have got behind the team, however i am sick of the performances of late, and lets face it, if you keep having bad beer at the pub, what do you do keep going back for more and keep quite or tell the boss man

  37. dublin wolves said:

Am i the only one who is thinking Dave Nugent on loan from Portsmouth for a striker here! If he would come of course!
Like the mention for Whelan from Wednesday above, doubt Coventry would sell Mifsud for 2.5 though and doubt we would get half a mill for Bothroyd!

Would like the club to hold out for more than 4mill for Hennessey though, push it over 5mil, with sell on clause then maybe…
Replacement i would like and cheap is Harper from Newcastle, did nothing wrong while Given was out earlier this season!

    Well said Spiritualwolf !!!
Although Mick has come in for a lot of criticism (and rightly so in some cases).
I hope the Riordan rumours are just rumours though.
There has been a strong rumour that Peter Whittingham might be coming in at around £1M+…………..

  40. wulf said:

I think everyone has become slightly bored with how things are going under Mcarthy but lets not forget he has previously won this division so he must know something. The problem is: I think we may get in a few good players in Jan which can turn this season around, but if we don’t, ‘because they weren’t availible at the right price’ then we might as well give him to the summer so this season becomes a write-off. Then how long do you give the new manager to reach the premiership?, 18 months again? Just food for thought. My oppinion is give him this season if we don’t make play-offs sack Mick and get Paul Ince in, NOT SAMMY LEE!

  41. Bridget & Tony said:

Shouldnt we be having a “We Want Taff Evans back” campaign???

Sammy Lee as manager… hmmmm now where have I heard that before ??

Oh yeah - I told you all in October !

    Spooky Huh ?

  43. we8wba said:

37- good suggestion but wont happen..

pompey have kanu utaka and benjani in ACN i think, anyways they short on strikers and unless they sign 3-4 i doubt theyll let him go. only chance we got getting him is bid. so they can sign replacement.

whelan is out of contract in summer i believe so low bid of around 500k could get accepted. we have to make most of otherteams misfortunes financially i.e cardiff, cov

how about doyle of cov. i think cov would want 4m for misfuid and think he would want prem footie if moved to be honest.

39 - i like whittingham alot, it was common knowledge it was done deal last year and only didnt happen due to mcarthy coming in. thing is though he got good cross but who is he crossing to??

keogh i miss several headers from 6yrds out
elliot i cant jump as injured or just cant jump
eastwood i wont be able to connect because im on the subs bench
bothroyd i fall over if get slight touch although if 14st and 6ft 2

god we better get a striker in

  44. Bridget & Tony said:

Anyone watched the Luton V Liverpool FA Cup game yesterday - the lad that made the cross for the Luton goal looks like a good prospect - superb left wing cross
Plus any other number of lads out there - as they all collectively “put in a good shift” - not getting paid regularly and are hungry, up for it blah blah

  45. Tamworth Wolf said:

Cannot believe the rumours about Sammy Lee, if we do get rid of MM, for me there are 3 condidates
    1.Paul Ince @ MK Dons
    2.Gary Johnson @ Bristol City
    3.Roberto Martinez @ Swansea.

As regards possible transfers did anyone see Stoke and Newcastle last night. I thought Liam Lawrence on the wing had a great game, can use both feet, scores goals 8 this season a looks half decent at set pieces.

I no he is ex Sunderland and the critism MM has has had regarding signing ex sunderland players I do however think he could do well for us.

Did anyone see the story about Keith Andrews going to Leicester for £1.5m, did anyone think he would be worth that 3 or 4 seasons ago probably not.

  46. We'rewolves in London said:

Kites & Wayne are going nowhere. They are happy at the moment at wolves and we don’t need the money. Obviously in the future they want to play in the Prem and hopefully that will be with wolves in the not too distant future. We need to buy good players not sell them!

  47. Dan said:

Chaplow to Burnley..Chaplow is a good squad player..Shame he cant pass the ball 2 yards lol. If we get 750k for him then it’s good buisness. I cant see us getting Murphy ahead of the Blues.

  48. scotwolf said:

    sammy lee no no no!!!!

re hennesey and kightly if big offers come in wolves will sell no doubt about it. and who’s to say someone won’t bid for eastwood?

but any money we get has to be spent wisely and on quality and at right price which we are not very good at doing.

no 45 tamworth ………. i to would like to see b/city manager gary johnson at wolves he has got players over achieving, scoring goals and playing attractive attacking football. he has spent money well which is very importnat as we seem to squander our transfer budget.

You give Wolves and DECENT fans like myself a bad name. Your even so bad I wouldn’t even say go down the road and watch them play cos they deserve better too. I’m sorry to the Wolves fans posting decent, positive comments but as usual small minded ones get the better of us again. I’ve been to the home games this season and some of the fans just really make me want to go home. You spoil it for others and yet you don’t care. a few things strike me from this thread.

    1. the valuations you are all putting on hennessey. WHY?? carson & gordon have both played in european competitions and have high level experience. hennessey has had half a good season. i’d pick a fit matt murray anyday over him. forgot he was wales number 1, (WOW!! the world’s 40odd best team’s keeper is worth £10m, your havin a laugh)

    2. do we just base a great manager also on half a good season. roberto martinez???? yes i believe paul ince will be a good manager but what’s he done so far??

    3. as one fan said, he’d rather go support chasetown. believe me mate, i’d rather u did too, and take all the other 2faced fans with you who are now slating MM after kissing his arse all last season.

let’s be man enough to admit it, if albion weren’t doin so well this season we’d be disappointed at present form but not this melodramatic.

As Wolves fans we need to get behind Mick and the team. Wolves historically have sacked Managers to quickly to try and fix a problem that is deeper than the Manager. We have had a bad time recently but I am sure we will come good. Look at Crystal Palace and more recently QPR. This division is very poor with all teams beating each other. GET BEHIND THE TEAM and not slaughter them at ever opportunity.

At last some good news Wolves take Latvian Girts Karlsons on trial:
6ft 2ins of muscle man, excellent player and if McCarthy passes this gem by then wqe can kiss the second half of the season goodbye as well. This guy believe me can hold the ball up well and is an excellent target man, and also scores some cracking goals, I,m not just bullying up because he is a fellow countryman but he really can play. He is now a free agent so wouldn,t cost the club any transfer fee, I believe Muppet man must sign him now and get him straight in the team next week against Palace.
