Huddersfield 2 Blues 1

16.53: It’s all over. Blues are out. Birmingham fans - get those comments rolling in now. Is it a relief or a disaster for Alex McLeish?

16.50: The best Blues can muster is a Jaidi header from a corner which goes over.

16.41: Disaster for Blues. Brandon puts the home team ahead, drilling home from the left hand side of the six yard box.

16.35: Kamara fouls Ridgewell, who is booked for his reaction.

16.30: The game fizzles out with a series of throw-ins and fouls. Skarz is booked for Huddersfield. The resulting free kick by McSheffrey is punched clear by the Huddersfield keeper.

16.22: Forssell makes way for Cameron Jerome. A like for like swap by Mr McLeish.

16.20: Garry and Gary have another pair of chances from distance but neither find the target.

16.15: McSheffrey has another shot which goes wide. Blues have obviously come out looking to get an early second.

16.10: Garry O’Connor and Gary McSheffrey both go close with chances early in the second half.

16.02: Big shout out to reader Maurice Walters who writes: “i am e-mailing you from Thailand yours is the only site i can get a commentary for todays game.” Thanks for joining us. Let’s hope you get the result you want.

15.52: Half time. Time for a rethink. Blues should come out and finish this one.

15.40: De Ridder has a shot that goes over. Quedrue is booked.

15.35: Chris Brandon is booked for Huddersfield for a foul on Muamba. Brandon forces a save by Taylor with a header shortly afterwards.

15.30: It is now fairly equal as both sides settle. No clear cut chances.

15.22: No sooner had we typed that line than Blues score. Garry O’Connor finds the back of the net from 12 yards. Blues fans can now tell Robbie Williams: “You only Sing When You’re Winning.” Sorry.

15.20: The Huddersfield back line, which includes one Robbie Williams, has shut out Blues. Birmingham do get a corner but it results in nothing more than a catch for the keeper.

15.14: Alex McLeish has got to plan a response. Blues have yet to muster a chance of any note.

15.05: Injury-hit Huddersfield take the lead against their Premier League opponents thanks to a tap-in by Luke Beckett after Maik Taylor parries a shot.

14.00: Tricky little tie this one for Blues. Away to League One opposition whose fans have been queuing round the block for tickets.
