Chief executive Jez Moxey is standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Mick McCarthy as the manager faces growing criticism of his team’s progress this season.
Although Wolves remain among the glut of clubs chasing play-off positions, four points from the last 21 provide a worrying close to the first half of a campaign which has disillusioned supporters.
Moxey, having overseen some stormy days at Molineux as the club has failed to fulfil expectations, remains a staunch advocate of both McCarthy and a more patient culture in an effort to bring greater stability.
And in his programme notes for yesterday’s Sheffield United match, Moxey offered a timely endorsement of McCarthy’s qualities and work so far.
Moxey wrote: “The manager knows what is necessary to improve results, he knows what is needed to play attractive winning football, he knows what players he would ideally like to strengthen the squad and he knows what it takes to get teams promoted, having done it before with Sunderland.
“But his reign is only a little over 16 months old and Rome wasn’t built in a day. Fans have been supporting their teams for decades and we all want the same thing.
“But with young, relatively inexperienced players it is inevitable that the team will have good spells and then not so good spells. This is something I have said on many occasions.”
Moxey takes great care over his programme addresses – famously firing a broadside across the bows of former boss Glenn Hoddle in one column 18 months ago – and it is certain that these latest comments are directed mainly at the anti-McCarthy lobby.
He admitted that he has received complaints from supporters concerning players performing out of position and, in the same article, provides a detailed defence of the manager’s reasoning.
“I would simply say that on most occasions, these have been borne out of necessity rather than ideal choice,” concluded Moxey.

Mick may have got Sunderland promoted, he also watched them get relegated, and did little to improve the Ireland national team.
He’s brought in players who aren’t performing. The only exception being Kightly, and with him injured it just shows what a 1 man team we are.
We won’t make the Play-offs, and on reflection we are good enough to. If by some miracle we did get promoted, we’d get slaughtered even more so than last time.
Fans are being taken for mugs, prices don’t drop despite rubbish on the pitch.

“not so good spells” - you are an arse Moxey, no one is buying the PR, and even the Johnny Come Lately’s have wised up.
The combination of you selling off our best assets and Mccarthy’s insane team selection are EXACTLY the reason we are mid-table.
We all know that our best signing Kightly was not chosen by mick. he instead spent most of his time recruiting SU rejects.

“it is inevitable that the team will have good spells and then not so good spells”.
So when was this season’s good spell? I think I missed it. Even when we were winning games 1-0 we were pretty poor.
For the money we pay we are entitled to criticise if the entertainment is sub-standard. The game against Sheffield United was simply boring and the play unimaginative, and even if we had scored it would have been difficult to get excited about it.

How can anyone justifiably say that Ince was the right man for the job in July last year? He may well have had the desire and passion for the club, but he had no league management experience at the time and therefore going to Macclesfield was a much better option for him. Mick McCarthy took over when we were in an absolute mess, and he turned us around in such spectacular fashion I still cannot quite believe it. Brighton Wolf, I think it’s time you removed your head from your rectum and stopped posting such pathetic, ill-conceived and narrow-minded judgements. You are, of course, entitled to your opinion, same as the rest of us, but I think the majority of MM’s current detractors would concede that he was the right man for the job at the right time. If Ince took over in July ‘07 we could quite easily be playing in League 1.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - give Mick until the end of the season at least. Jez is absolutely spot-on - Rome was not built in a day and therefore we need the fans to give our young players the support and appreciation they require to lift us out our current slump. They will come good, I am certain of it…

6. are you having a laugh?? Sunderland got relegated because the board didn’t back mccarthy with money (like wolves under dj when we were promoted)….i think he only had 5 million to spend.
Look at roy keane…he’s spent nearly 40 million on utter crap & they’re doing really well.
Sadly this is typical wolves….when we had bigger named players fans moaned about the lack of passion & wanting to see homegrown players, when we played the homegrown lads fans booed them if they didn’t think they were good enough & now when we have a team of workers fans bitch that there’s no quality.
We are the newcastle of the championship

OK Jez, you have made your comment, now here is mine.
So you think the criticisms thrown at McCarthy are unwarranted? OK, so what if all the disgruntled fans were to stay away from all future home games, this would satisfy the “keep the faith, I wear rose-coloured glasses and the super-Mick brigades” BUT what would YOU do when the revenue falls below your expected level for the season? No doubt you would be offering another “Pie and a Pint” as a special treat for all fans to return to Molineux? Get real Jez! If shops were to sell the kind of product that is “currently on sale” at Molineux, how long would their businesses stay open? Answer me that! The complete and utter tripe that is currently on the Molineux (and away grounds) menu is not only unpalletable but gives everyone except those I have mentioned earlier, chronic indigestion!
The answer is 2-fold, 1. McCarthy needs to get his act together, sort the players out, ship out the slackers and bring in those who are prepared to play for the club and bring some success OR 2. sack McCarthy and bring in someone who CAN marshall the troops and sort out the problems.
It is commendable for you to back McCarthy in public but what else can YOU DO? Perhaps Steve Morgan is not so “pally” with him and may well make a decision over your head? Whatever happens, time is running out, most certainly for McCarthy regardless of your support and maybe for you too???

I think if we had seen the same perfomaces last season as we are now I could have understood.
But we are a season on and whether it was that players over performed last season or not - they set the standards that they need to maintain this season, I would say that none of them are
Some of our youngster have been replaced with less talented higher earning under performing players - At least the youngsters had pride because they came through the system and played without fear.
You have to move on - last season was the benchmark - If the players are not up to it - Move them on

McCarthy “did little to improve the Ireland national team”?
Are you having a laugh?
He oversaw the transition of a new era of Irish football being only the second manager to qualify the country for a World Cup. They only went out of the World Cup on penalties to Spain (they actually deserved to win the game and probably would have had it not been for an Ian Harte penalty miss in the second half).
It’s only now that Ireland fans can really see the magnitude of what McCarthy achieved with the National side.

Average squad of players, average club management average performances, average gates, average league position, you get what you pay for, average wages, average motivation;
The problem has been Wolves have always followed others examples with disaterous consequences…big time charlies, came and went, Gra Taylor era, then Hayward talks to Derby’s chairman and all of a sudden its new young hungry players, shoestring budgets. Results remained the same.
The fact is there is no imagination in that board room, no proper analysis of what you need to succeed, no-one capable. If MM goes, which i am not advocating at the moment, then we should go for Steve Coppell and break the bank…to get him. Give him your 30 million Mr Morgan and let him get on with it!

11 Greg. What a load of twaddle. Ince may have had no experience as a manager but he is a winner through and through which has been evidenced at both Macclesfield and MK Dons. good spell and bad spells, this season we have had no good spells or i have missed them. any games we have won are fluked or scrappy 1 nils.
the slide in performance is very worrying, nearly every other team has scored more goals than us and at least carry a goal threat can anyone say when we will score let alone win a game again?
goals-there must be something wrong if we buy proven goalscorer like eastwood who then scores a few and is dropped, critisised, benched and now cant’ score. if he had gone elsewhere he would be banging in the goals. keogh great play outside the box but we cannot have a wolves no.9 who can’t score, elliot not good enough, bothroyd not good enough, stephen ward again not good enough although has worked hard out of position. without kightly who else has the guile or pace to create chances, and get crosses in the box?
the squad needed quality during the summer and due to the prolonged takeover i feel we missed out on other signings. mcindoe should still be here how much did we give him away for. does jarvis seem worth the money. i think if mick does not spend wisely during january and buy quality for the right positions and we continue like this he will get the sack at the end of the season.
so whats the answer, money, manager, training, tactics, team moral, duff players, duff board. is the answer some or all of the above.
travelling down from scotland on new year to watch the most awful football bereft of shots on goal was soul destroying and it seems to be a regular occurance. so i am very unhappy and sorry to all re the is long moan but we cannot go on like this or we could end up hurtling towards the bottom of the division very quickly and no hope of a playoff position. i do hope mick can turn it around but i cannot see any hope on the horizon.
rant over…….come on the wolves score some goals win some games

Ermmm….28, confidence and vision and direction inspires players of aveage ability to over achieve, I think you’ll find, Kiyon Seoul and Ingimarrson perform fairly well in an over achieving side of average players…they key to getting them to win every week and over achieve at all levels is to give them inspiration, vision and a clear plan for each game and aims for the season that are realistic. Last season we over achieved this season we are under achieving as our expectations are very different.
We’ve lost key players and creators in pre-season and not replaced them.

I agree with the young policy and realise it will take time Rome wasn’t built in a day etc.
MM is a good manager and he needs our support!! NOT DERISION!! The team need a kick up the arse and strikers need to learn to get into the box to recieve from the wings or midfield.

I am not enjoying either McCarthy or Moxey’s comments. I have watched Wolves since 1960 and have been a season ticket holder for many years. Wolves are now the equal lowest goal scorers in this division and there are 14 teams below us. I think it started to go wrong when Mcindoe left and why wasn’t McNamara persuaded to stay for at least one more year. Magic Mick now doesn’t like 4-5-1. Well other teams seem to cope. I don’t mind losing like last year against Birmingham and baggies but the drivel being served up and justified is not acceptable. If things don’t change I will not be renewing my season ticket and my wish is for others to follow. That way something may get done. Wolves stop treating us like idiots. We can’t all be wrong.

All season ticket holders paid a lot of money to watch wolves this season.I can honestly say i haven’t been entertained once this season with good attacking football.Ask yourself this Mr Moxey would you pay your hard earned money to watch the crap we have to put up with week in week out.
MM did a good job at stablising the club last year and deserves a lot of credit for that.
But i believe he is out of his depth this year.Pressure was on before a ball was kicked since mr morgan came along with his new investement.
MM looks a great manager when there is no pressure and his team are underdogs as nobody expects much.So he gets away with his work etic style of play. I.E= Ireland,Sunderland and wolves.
But when he’s in charge of a team who are expected to get promoted because of the finance this is where his management limitations become exposed.
We all expected to see better signings and wolves playing better football but due to mm this has not been the case.
Don’t think we’ll see much qaulity coming in through jan as mm won’t attract those type of players.
One last thing, at the start of the season i recall mm stating he was more than happy with the sqaud he’d got??????????????

Sevlow (post 22) Steve Coppell was appointed October 2003, Reading promoted May 2006 - hardly 6 years!

Whether we like it or not MM is here for this season at least - and, you know what, with our unpredictable league this season if we went on a run we could still get promoted. However, from what I have seen this season we will not do that with the current squad of players - we need 3 or 4 proper first team players in immediately if we are to regain momentum. Although the overall philosophy of buying young and hungry players is right, we must blend that with some experience - particuarly in crucial areas such as centre midfield.
What concerns me though is that we always seem a bit slow in the transfer windows. Several clubs have already started bringing players in with a few (Mahon, Kavanagh) that might have done a job for us. I just hope we are not still waiting for fresh faces at the end of the month as we need some repair work pronto!

I dont know why we bother reading Moxeys comments. He’s an idiot.
McCarthy got Sunderland promoted and they were the worst team ever to play in the Premiership. I seem to remember he bought a couple of strikers who failed to score.
McCarthy has a track record which is, at best, mediocre.
But lets look at Moxey’s CV. He was at Stoke. Great.
He sacked Jones when we had a better team than we have now. He appointed Hoddle, and despite the terrifying “shot across the bows” in his programme notes lets remember he wanted Hoddle to stay. Hoddle walked out!
I’m quite happy with Moxey standing shoulder to shoulder with Mick. Providing its in front of Steve Morgans desk as he is sacking both of them.
We have put up with second rate management at Board level for long enough. I notice that Sheffield United fans are protesting in the car parks at Bramall Lane. Time for us to do the same. Enough is enough

The next few weeks will be decisive. If he is not given the money to spend then there will only be one reason for that. MM won’t be staying. If MM has not got a rabbit in his hat e.g. Kites making an immediate impact when he returns, then the pressure will show. When Mr morgan sees the wolves fans fighting with their mates instead of showing infinate faith then the penny will drop and he will act. Oh and look out for moxey hedging his allegience.

We have the solution in our hands - Get behind the team and the manager. Stop barracking them. We are our own worst enemy. Continually moaning and not supporting what if given time will be a bloody good young team.
We should have learnt our lessons by now. MM is a good manager. We do need at least 3 more quality players. Bring in Joe Ledley if you can, he is quality and scores goals. We need a quality winger to support Kightly and we need a quality striker - let of of the others go. Not Freddie or Keogh though! A strong defender would be nice as well.
LETS SUPPORT THE TEAM. WE ARE NOT HELPING BY MOANING AT THEM! CHANGED MANAGERS AND PLAYER GOD KNOWS HOW MANY TIMES AND STILL HAVEN’T GOT IT - WE ARE THE REASON THEY PLAY CRAP - THEY NEED OUR SUPPORT. REMEMBER AF AT MANU, HE HAD A BAD TIME AFTER ABOUT 17 MONTHS BUT THEY STOOD BY HIM!!

I am one of those fans who are very disappointed at the performances this year and want to see some vast improvement. It’s also true to say that this squad would not have a cat in hells chance of making any sort of impression on the Premier League. But I still find it difficult to take the absolute venom contained in some of these posts.
Posts 11 “Greg” and 13 “Sunderland Wolf” make absolutely spot on comments regarding Paul Ince and M.M’s time at Sunderland.
Regarding Jez Moxey’s comments and the continuing criticism of him. I would say it takes much more to run a Football Club effectively than simply buying and selling players. From some of the so called fans comments you would think almost every professional footballer is simply waiting for the chance to join Wolves and Jez only as to make the call. If only!!!
Yes we are playing crap; yes we do have doubts about the selections and tactics, and yes we are entitled to our opinions and to criticise. But please make them sensible and maintain some objectivity and not just nonsensical wishful thinking.

Had to smile on Tue when the best player by a country mile, was a bloke at the end of his career, who apart from the last minute didn’t put a foot wrong. Well done Michael Gray, made me eat my words.
Reason we were successful last season was so many of the youth team had to play (by neccesity) and had no fear. This year, the ball isn’t giving us the bounce, and the refs at Mol are the worst i can remember, but the nerves are there with no creativity and pace.
I like MM, but his favoiurites, are killing the momemtum we’d gained. I said last year that George was lucky, right place, right time in front of goal, but he’s not been worth watching all year, and Gibson’s not the answer. Mr Morgan, it’ll need more than a few quid, and the QPR’S and Cardiff’s have already stole a march on snapping folks up. Mid table at best, maybe lower without Kightly. We have been average at best all season. At this moment in time we are poor. McCarthy is pig-headed and it will be interesting to see;

I cannot see McCarthy getting the boot, so we have no choice but to get behind him, unless Cambridge do a Chorley of course!!

Moxey is renowned for saying the wrong thing at the wrong time and his opinion is taken with contempt by most Wolves supporters so his comments mean nothing.
McCarthy knows how to play attractive football? If Moxey had any connection with supporters views he would know that after 13 of the 15 home games this season fans have left the ground completely dissatisfied with the entertainment they have recieved. The club have made no progress since the day Moxey was appointed and as for McCarthy he recently asked fans to remember how low expectations were the day he arrived. Does he seriously think they are any higher now? We are exactly where fans feared we would be 18 months ago. As close to relegation as promotion and further away from looking a premiership team than we have been in 20 years.
When will our new chairman make some contribution to taking the club forward by getting shot of Moxey and McCarthy. Or was his motivation in buying the club purely based on the generous terms that Sir jack was looking for?

Most of you lot are idiots. Rather than calling the manager names and also the players, why not try and encourage them more and things might not be rushed and over worked. It’s you, the moaners who are putting stress on this team and rather than support them 110% through this bad patch, you would rather attack them on a personal level. I understand that we pay good money for the oppotunity to watch the Wolves and we should expect a good standard of football to be played most of the time, but ppl, come on. They are not robots. Support them through this bad spell and things can only get better. C’MON WOLVES !!!!!!!!!

You can tell how much Jez knows about football- he tried to persuade Hoddle to remain at the club after he resigned. The simple fact is the football being played is boring with no goals being scored. At this rate attendances will be below 20,000 next season and the relegated teams from The Premiership will be even stronger.I dont care who the manager is I just want to be entertained on a Sat afternoon.

I totally agree…. 38 Ive paid £400 plus to be entertained and to be quite honest i have NOT been entertained once, well maybe norwich home, but i find it hard to remember anymore [sorry mick].The football is pretty boring, all run run and chase, but not much action, goals for and against stats have proved that.

sounds as though MM has been reading moxeys book of excuses.if a player was not well he would not have played let alone played55mins. if kegoh was unwell mm should have made the switch at half time but there again nothing would have changed to score get rid of the coaches mick before they get rid of you .just look how long and how many managers have been and gone and you still get the same old rubbish every game apart when mick had his coach in last season we played better

Also Reading performed consistently well in that time and have gone on to great success (in terms of retaining premiership status).
We on the other hand - as many have already stated - set the bar second half of last season and so far we’ve seen nothing to suggest this team can reach that bar again.
Young and hungry players need quality leadership and when a manager publicly slates his players or offers his favoured strike pairing, morale and motivation go out of the window.
MM has done more damage than anything else this term and the writing has been on the wall for a good long while.
It’s going top be difficult for him to win the fans over again.
Moxey needs to shut up and run the numbers, not play devil’s advocate.

When MM steps beyond the limits for Steve Morgan just watch how fast Pontious Pilate washes his hands of Mortal Mickey!!!
The Next thing we will hear is that US fans dont make enough of an atmosphere so that the players can perform (ala Alex Ferguson Vs Man Ure fans New Years Day)
MM has had his “honeymoon period” and now we are seeing exactly what many many Sunderland and EIRE fans have said over and again!
NB* For ALL of the agreeable Happy Clappies out there who keep wittering on about last season and Moxey’s comment about how long MM has been in charge - How long did it take MM’s best buddie Roy Keane - a management total novice with no experience to get the Sunderland promotion push moving - 16 months?
We currently have NO tactics - No Style - No Clue whatsoever!!!
MM gloated about Karl Henry taking care of an ageing Huckerby at Naaarwich and against Sheff Utd - Karl Henry hardly was in the game on the - you got it Right Wing / Wide Right
A Joke An Absolute Joke!!!

How long has Moxey been at the club.
If room was not built in a day then Wolves has not been built at all since Moxey has been CEO.
We had our chance to build when Dave Jones got us into the Premiership and look where Moxey and his Penny Pinching got us then.
Dave Jones never even saw a tenth of the said money that promotion brought us, so as for Moxey saying it takes time to build, if he was in charge Rome would never have been built.
He is talking out of his overpaid ass again. Even Sir Jack said he wished that he had invested more, how much of Sir Jack’s under investment in that premiership season was down to Moxey’s influence.
The only thing i know is that the Wolves board when we got relegated is reportedly to have given itself a massive bonus(i have heard half a mill each is close to the mark), if only Dave jones had been given that money.
Moxey shut up and ship out.
Fans get behind the team and support them through thick and thin, lets not boo them, but lets vent our frustation on the mouthpeice behind this article, namely Jez Moxey(stoke fans must be laughing at everything that comes out of his mouth)

Totally agree with Andrew (38) and Pelsall Wolf(8).
Fans have the right to an opinion and for those paying £25+ to go & watch the clueless rubbish being played at the moment its daylight robbery. Even when we were winning -0 it was dire stuff. What’s happened since the passion & commitment shown in the 1st leg play off semi final against Sandwell Town? OK Kights is out but surely we can’t rely on one man to provide the ammo for our strikers. All strikers need the supply to show us what they can do. Even ‘the legend’ - Bully had to be given the ball to show us what he did best - score goals. For every goal he scored he more than likely had 3 or 4 other chances. How many would he have scored this season with the supply our strikers have been given? Our one ‘natural’ goalscorer in the Bully mould - Freddy - has had his confidence shattered by MM.
Its no good being satisfied with a point at QPR, Norwich, etc etc. The clock is ticking on another season of under acheiving,
abject mediocrity. How much more of this will Mr Morgan put up with ?

To be quite frank after the boring Hoddle era last season was like a breath of fresh air at Molineux. Eager young players giving their all for the club. This season is like stepping back to the Hoddle era, boring football with no goals or even the hope of a few goals. Game after game of rustration and underperformance. So much so that even having 2 season tickets me and my wife find it increasingly difficult to waste a Saturday afternoon at the match. I have been to half the home games so far whereas last season wild horses couldn’t have kept me away. In fact I’ve missed 2 games this season to attend rugby matches! More entertaining, more commitment, no wet nursed overpaid players whingeing at the ref and crying every time they get tackled (bless!), no vile language in the crowd and great value for money. I fear I may have bought my last season ticket this season, and I can’t say I’ll miss it.

It is really incongrous for Moxey to defend the current form (or lack of it) from the present squad.
There is no point gaining promotion unless the Club can be reasonably sure of ataying up. In order to do that the Club has to bring in better players - and on that subject where are the funds that were allegedly promised by the new owner?

Fickle fickle fickle fickle fickle…..need I say more! Super super Mick a few weeks ago and now you’re calling him a muppet! You are an absolute disgrace and an embarassment to this club. Get behind your team when they are struggling you bunch of idiots!
Have you learnt nothing from the past 10-15 years? Frequent changes in management have really bred success haven’t they? Consistency is what is required. Does anybody recall how far Fergie was from the sack at Man U! I think their faith in their gaffer has paid dividends!
I don’t like Moxey but I think he is bang on the money with this one and it is good to him support Mick!
You don’t knock your kids when they under perform at school do you? No of course not you get behind them, you encourage them, you SUPPORT them. Hopefully with that SUPPORT will come a turn around in fortunes and your kids will grow in to succesful students! Ian Holloway used this analagy the other week when he joined Leicester and he stood up and had a pop at the ‘boo boys’! That took balls if you ask me!
This negative rubbish is achieving nothing. MM is going nowhere so it is important we get behind him, then if come the summer we haven’t achieved what we set out to do then maybe the club will look at other options. Just have some patience, the return of Kites, a back to form Keogh and a few more additions to the squad and I firmly believe we will be flying again.
You might not like what I say and i’m sure I will receive some less than constructive feedback but I’m afraid I speak my mind and I fear the ‘Boo boys’ are wrecking this club!

You’ve watched us play direct football under Turner & Taylor, clueless football under McGhee & Hoddle and exciting, heart in mouth football under Jones and now McCarthy.
And what have we had to put up with dawn ALL the years? Miserable, moaning, petulant Wolves fans. God, we’re a fickle bunch!

34 - im not knocking the job mcarthy has done for us in the past, but our ambitions have risen and quite frankly we are no where near where we should be
and mcarthy is starting to lose his mind, we are 10pts of top 3 and he saying we can still challenge for title, last i checked our form has mean relegation form, we are hardly playing the toughest games yet
we still got to go to charlton, watford, bristol c then tough away ground like scunthorpe blackpool
yes playing three teams near top may help if we win them but can you honestly see us turning any of them over? maybe bristol c away?
lets face it we always draw vs these teams at home and end up losing 1-0 away. but now we have to win these to stay in playoffs as we need promotion form to reach this goal comfortably 1st
as for mcarthy losing his mind as i said above, he keeps playing elliot, bothroyd, keogh yes great none of them do squat, yes i admitt freddy isnt playing well but when is he given 4games of 90mins like elliot and jay does?? he doesnt. if we lose it always seems to be freddy fault
mcarthy even bought on s.ward and played him left back couple weeks ago for last 10mins, all very well and good but he supposdily a striker. so if bought on why not stick him up there. wheres mulgrew??
mcarthy has his favourites which is costing us because we nowhere near the team we were last year

Typical, Moxey is positioning himself to keep his job when Morgan finally says enough. Seen it too many times in industry, the MD gives a public show of support so when he sacks the victim he puts his hands up and says ‘don’t blame me’! And to be honest who can blame Moxey? He has proven over and over that he knows nothing about football and even less about football fans. He’s running a business and he does it well, but no MD with an ounce of sence goes into the store and tells the customers to shut up. Some respect please Moxey, you work for us.

34…absolutely spot on.
Most of you are a total disgrace.
Unintelligent raving morons.
Ought to be ashamed of yourselves, thought I was reading Sandwell towns page a couple of months ago, after they had hysterically lost to Derby…remember all those fans crying at Wembley….hysterical it was….but they sounded like you lot…Wanted to SACK MOWBRAY they did. According to them he was the anti-christ himself….AND NOW LOOK WHERE THEY ARE,TOP OF THE LEAGUE and playing the best football in this division and better than the bottom half of the premier league as well….
And now THEY ARE LAUGHING THEIR HEADS OFF AT YOU SAD LITTLE LOT.
So we have a bad 3 months and it’s sack the manager time again is it.
After Hoddle messes us totally and ALL of us expect to be fighting relegation…the end result was miraculously playoffs and at that time we’d all have given MM our wives for a week..
But oh conveniently forgotten now isn’t it.
Pathetic hypocrits.
I aint particularly happy. I sat thru the last 7 home matches and 3 away and wondered what the hell I was doing..
I am NOT happy that we are playing people out of position. I cannot see Jarvis being terrifying. I cannot see Ward and Collins being league 2 let alone Wolves 1st team, I cannot see Elliott being anything like a 10 goal a season striker, I cannot see Bothroyd scoring whilst he insists on playing in every available position on the field all during the same match. I don’t see Keogh as a striker, I see him as a provider. I can see Freddie as a striker but only when we start playing the ball to him in space…Have we got a midfield cos I ain’t seen one yet…I can’t see any spark, any creativity or any goals at the moment. I can see some passion, I can see some nearly good play sometimes, I can see thay know how to do it….I can also see panic.
BUT sacking MM now is too stupid for words. .
And precisely who would take over…..Oooh yep go and get Coppell, go and get Ince…..and what happens if they say NO..
Why the hell would Coppell leave?
Would Ince say yes now after he didn’t get the job first time round….he has no more loyalty to Wolves than he has to West Ham or Man Utd. We paid him very well and gave him a bit of responsibility…that was the extent of his loyalty.
Mourinho is sunning himself in Portugal. Arse-en is happy at Arse-enal. Ferguson is too bad tempered to leave Man U Health and safety wouldn’t let him come…something about boots and changing rooms. Fabio is now loaded….Gus is sorted, Benitez might be available soon but who’d want him..Sir bobby ain’t too well gawd bless him, Sanchez is available but he definately DOES need to go to specsavers…..and the best manager in the country….He ain’t gonna leave Portsmouth cos he has a whopping great house in the posh end of Poole and Wolves ain’t got no sea…..
Leaves a lot of choice then doesn’t it?
So… who else?
AHA….Robson did a job on us for Sheffield UTD…..theyd LOVE us to nick him…Where are they, a team recently relegated with all their parachute money BELOW us.
How about mCgOO back again if he don’t take the Scotland job… Come back Twoddle lets give him Morgans 30 million and have more diamond formations and missing jigsaw Polish gnomes for strikers. Or Colin lee…I could take my bed back to Molineux every second Saturday and get some proper sleep.
Only a complete pillock would NOT know that Sunderland gave McCarthy almost no money (4,86 million) when they went up, slightly more than DJ got…..and Neither DJ nor MM nor Wenger/Jose/Fabio/Gus hoodwink/Tony (call me god) Blair or even his wife widemouth frog Blair, None of them could have kept either team up spending only that amount. Only numpteys would deny that Eire had one of their best ever tournaments under MM even minus the nutter Keane ( who is sposed to be the next big up and coming thing and is 3 rd from bottom having spent 45 million, and is having a worse time than mm) and got further than they had before. Easy to forget the facts isn’t it. Lot of Lemmings on here all rushing towards the cliff, altogether…..like sheep all following each other to the butchers shed…..Oooh sack im…oooh yea thats a good idea…oooh lets all jump off this cliff….oooh yea thats a good idea.
Our season may or may not be over, but the man deserves until the end of the season….if not for any other reason than finishing up Sandwell towns arse with NO money and NO players at the start of last season.
How about then…..instead of slagging him off all the time.how about putting all of your energies into supporting our beloved team for once….all that positive energy. Fergie, who is amost everyones BEST manager in the country, BELIEVES that a loud and positive audience at his stadium would make his multi billion pound team play better doesn’t he……….so if it’s good enough for Manky Utd it ought to be good enough for us.
Instead of criticising the manager/MOxey/team/tea lady/Ye olde club shoppe… spend as much energy getting behind them when they are positively flippin awful, and it might make them a little less awful. Might even score a goal or something shocking.
Give MM til the end of the season……and lay off him until then.
I am sick of Wolves constantly underacheiving like this…but I am sick of moaning whingeing moronic hypocrits more.

The problem here is that at the start of the season we were made 2nd favorites to go up, so everyone expected that would happen including players & staff.
But no one told them that this is one of the hardest Division to get out of, how many times has the top 6 changed?
2 Main points to make
1= Bothroyd taking corners & Freekicks, cant anyboby else take them so he can do what he is paid for (scoring)such a big fella is a joke taking them.
2= Eastwood we buy him for over a million and doesnt get a look in give him more game time and you will see a change

All I want from now is to see the team improve and prepare for a serious campaign next year. Stoke and Bristol City show that you don’t need premier money to do well in the Championship.
Moxey is right in saying that a young team will get dumped on occasionally but he must realise that the team needs a backbone of experienced players who have the skill and ambition to do well.
I’ll enjoy the games more now that I don’t have massive expectations. Look at West Brom - they really are a class act and yet how will they do in the premiership. Not very well m’thinks..

I don’t get the impression from Morgan that he’s the kind of owner to take a back seat. Nor is he likely to be daft enough to buy into a new business and change senior management immediately. Instead, I would imagine he’d be working pretty hard behind the scenes to get to grips with each aspect of his investment - which takes time. He has to be looking at promotion within his early years - otherwise it’s tough to see how he gets much return, which has to be his main incentive given he’s Liverpool fan - so not the heart over head decisions that many of us/SLH would undertake.
So, is 4 months or so (since Morgan took over the reins) long enough? Probably not. I think the downturn in form this season compared to last is likely to see the purse strings tightened in the transfer window rather than the other way round. Morgan effectively tells MM to get better results from what he has to kick start our promotion challenge. Failure to achieve to this timescale means a significantly longer ‘mulling-over’ period starting in May to make the sweeping changes that are probably needed.
Moxey probably realises this and we all know he’s not a footballing man anyway. He’s defending his hire, as you’d expect. His future at WWFC most probably depends on MM’s ability to turn around an extremely drab season. But I fear it will be without any big buys (at the end of the day, Eastwood’s market value must have plummeted since the summer - but could just as easily turnaround) which is what most of us, supporting the club with our hearts (and cash) rather than our heads, would want at this stage.

Comments about/from Morgan from the fcbusiness.co.uk website made in November:
Steve also has a clear vision and philosophy on how in terms of staff management his club will be run. With the ‘managerial round-about’ now well upon us it was interesting to see how Steve’s comments mirrored those of Howard Wilkinson’s (Chairman of the League Managers Association) early on in the week concerning longevity of managers and relative success.
“Wolves have had a chequered last decade in regards to managers – I want to stop that. I don’t think you can get anywhere by hiring and firing – you have to work together as a team.
Going back to my business days at Redrow – my top people were with me for years and we trusted each other – that’s the way of successful business – football is no different”

It annoys me when fans think they speak for all fans - and therefore think they are right. (It shows yam a bit thick!)
I am 37 and I am a season ticket holder and have been since I was 6 (other than the years when the club didn’t even issue season tickets) so I would consider myself more loyal than most. But I can only speak for myself, nobody else.
I will back MM and JM in that I will not be calling for their heads every time we lose. I may not always agree with their decisions (like playing/buying Elliot, not knowing your best strike partnership, etc.) - and I will voice my opinion from the stands - sorry if that upsets the players - ahh diddums.
But sacking the manager every five minutes simply DOES NOT WORK. We should at least give MM until the end of the season and take stock from there. Any new manager coming in will still roll out the usual line “I have a five year plan…..” so we may as well see this season out and trust that things will come good after January.
Yes, MM has made mistakes, but he has done good things too. Jez will always be criticised, but as has been said a million times, and people still chose not to listen, he is doing the job he is paid to do - he does not pick the team, choose the players to buy or take coaching sessions, neither does he miss penalties!
Its frustrating, but let’s stick in there for a while. Many of us have seen things FAR worse than they are now. Hopefully Steve Morgan’s influence will now start to become apparant.
Come on me babbies!!!

Sunderland Wolf and Greg Cooper I entirely agree with your comments especially that we are the Newcastle of the championship, its nice to read some sensible and constructive comments instead of some of negative rubbish that is posted.
We all have an opinion and right now we 25000 different managers with different views and opinions.
At the moment Moxey and MM are “damned if they do damned if they dont”, Jez Moxey is a senior manager and his job is to do whats best for the club both as a business as a club. If we had gone the same way as Leeds, Derby or Coventry who would we all blame JezMoxey.
One comment about Freddie Eastwood, he started the season well scoring both for club and country, wasnt it Eastwood that said he didn’t feel fit enough to play beacuse he was tired from all the travelling, to any manager that is not going to go down well and ever since he has not been the same player. It would not suprise me if he goes in January which would be a shame because you can bet your life he will score a hatful of goals
We all entitled to an opinion but more contructive and balanced comments would be better

All of these sticking with Mick views would be fine if what we are seeing now is just a blip. But fans of Sunderland, Millwall and Ireland will tell you that the football we have been watching this season is what we should expect from this manager. His tactics relate purely to hard work and putting a shift in. His teams never score many goals. And his dealings in the transfer market have always been about trying to unearth gems from the lower leagues rather than injecting some quality.
The surprise from Mick is not what we are watching now, it was that he got the team playing at a high tempo and reasonably entertaining last season. But even then we didn’t score goals.
Things won’t change from this manager in terms of entertainment. If you are happy with boring 1-0 wins and hopefully getting enough of them to get promoted, then breaking the Premier League record for lowest goals scored - then stick with him.

“wasnt it Eastwood that said he didn’t feel fit enough to play beacuse he was tired from all the travelling”
He should’ve bought his Caravan with him & pitched it on the Asda car park!….
Only kidding.I just hope that the team as a whole rediscover the kind of football we all know they can play!

as long as Moxey works for Wolves I will never return to watch a home game. only watch wolves at away games as a neutral amongst the home fans. This is my own protest as an anti Moxey man. I am not a wolves fan while he works for the club

I could get MK Dons promoted with the budget and players that Ince has to play with…
Ince, hopefully, will go onto better things, but judging him on the fact that he sorted out Macclesfield and Milton Keynes is just plain ignorance.
Everyone knows that managing a winning team is easy, it’s when the chips are down - class will show.
Give Mick and the Boys a chance.

yes you should be shoulder to shoulder with MM - on your way out of the door together. You both got us into this state and do not seem capable of getting us back on track (if you were you would have done so by now, why should we believe you can turn it round now?) I hope Steve Morgan sees this as proving neither of you are up to it and makes sweeping changes now

I am so glad that most of the people posting on here weren’t around in the dark ages of the 1980’s, waiting outside Molineaux for news of receivership and watching our team go from divisions one to four, receiving merciless grief from supporters of all clubs, staging protests against the Bhattis, but still supporting our team regardless. Yes we had our moans and it was truly desperate, but we were so close to losing the club and that put a lot of stuff into perspective for me. The climb back up was great fun, until the expectations started to outgrow the reality and it stopped being fun again. Last seasons events took me back to the days when we were happy to get behind the team and be the underdogs, the Southampton game was a great example of how good Wolves fans can be, but once again the expectations have risen and, all of a sudden, the manager, players and staff are not good enough for some poor, suffering fans who think we should be top of the league and scaring the Premier League at the thought of playing us next year. Pathetic. Get real, we’re not good enough yet but have shown that we have potential to become bigger and better if we give MM time ….. no “super Mick” chants this year ? Learn from others, long term success cannot be achieved by throwing money at the situation and changing managers when things don’t go so well. Get behind the club … we nearly lost it.

Jez Moxey. (almost says it all without another word)
How many teams has he managed?
What is his football playing carrer record?
Yes thats right NIL and NIL
So how come he can defend team selection and playing players out of position saying it been a necessity?
Foley can cross the ball really well - so how was it a necessity to have Bothroyd taking the corners and free kicks instead of being in the box.
Neccessity my a..elbow
I can only hope that this “vote of confidence” does the trick.

Forgot to say that Jez was the man that prevented a total clear out of back room staff when Glenn Twaddle was appointed and most of that back room staff are still here “helping” MM & JM carry thier huge wages to their luxury cars (Im not bitter) just saying , you know ..as you do
Wise up Steve Morgan —– Change the LOT we need a break from the baggage. This should be Morgan Time - untarnished by the previous issues. Now is as good a time as any.

As a Wolves supporter for over 40 years I have to say the current football being served up at Molineux is the most boring drivel I have ever witnessed. 4 points out of 24 , 1 away goal in over 10 hours of football says it all.Steve Morgans reign is a massive non event.

In the Premiership £30M won’t buy a top team. The team that goes up has to also have a foundation of players who can make it at the top grade as well. I can see maybe 2 or 3 in the current team that could expect to survive in the Premiership.
If by some fluke we got promoted, then we have to rebuild a whole team again. Sven Goran Erikson has done it at Man City, but it cost much more than £30M.
I don’t want another suffering season in the Premiership, just to drop back down again for the next season. Let’s go up intending to stay there! M&M can’t achieve that. Lets see some ambition from the board, put the Wolves back where they belong!
But it was good to beat Man United wasn’t it?

I was there in the early eighties (125 Buster) and remember making ‘Bhatti Out’ placards in my bedroom. My kid bro has my season ticket now as I live in London and work in a job that means no Saturdays off, I don’t mind paying for it, I don’t object to the current poor run. As a fan for over twenty years I have seen it before. I do object to Moxey, he has always been self interested, I do object to the grief that we as ‘fans’ give the team and the manager. If we are to be honest, we have never given a manager a decent chance, we have high expectations and the minute a ‘blip’ occurs we panic and demand a new squad and manager. Who of the people here saw Bully’s first game, or Robbie Keane’s? They came to the fore when things were dire, it will happen again.

Agreed 30 million will not buy a top class team, but spending a bit now to get promoted will help.
Get in the premiership you get 50 mill a season and if you get relegated in the first season, you get a 20 mill parachute payment for 2 seasons.
Get up and get decent loan signings along will two or three quality signings and you have the backbone to a decent squad.
What we are building at the moment on the evidence i have seen, we have not even started to make a dent in what is needed to survive in the Premiership.

Trouble is the longer it takes to get out the division the harder it will get.Derby coming down and Jewell as manager will make them hard to beat you got QPR buying players and a bit of cash its going to be harder than ever next season.

come on wolves fans the time to protest is now,i cant see us spending much money in january, and another mid table mediocre finish is on the cards.mick mcarthey did a fantastic job last season, but we now have half the sunderland team who broke the record for the lowest points tally in prem twice.if we go up i cant see mm doing a good job.we need a roy keane or a paul ince who is willing to take a risk and spend.the fact of the matter is that money in this day and age buys success.the woll is being pulled over our eyes yet again.morgan will change things soon if things dont start to happen, moxey OUT OUT OUT.

Replacing the manager every 18 months is what’s kept us out of the Premiership for so long. I don’t disagree we’re playing poorly at the moment but short-sighted manager swapping is stupid. Never worked, never will.
I’ve never been more ashamed of being a Wolves fan than right now. No, not because of the performances… because when Leicester scored after 5 minutes, the crowd started booing. DISGRACEFUL. I’ve been going to the Mol for 33 years, so I’ve seen my share of dross on the pitch (losing 3-0 at home to CHarlton in 85, Ray Hankin missing open goal from 3 yards) and I will NEVER, EVER boo MY OWN TEAM. If that’s how you feel, GO HOME. I even remember people shouting “Bully, you’re too fat” and “Don’t be so selfish Bully”… COME ON!!!
Maybe Morgan’s 30 mill would be best spent refunding the people who boo so we can actually have a home crowd that supports Wolves!
I’ll revise what I said first - we’re stuck in the 2nd tier of English football because our fans think we have a divine right to be in the Premier and if we’re not winning every game 9-0 start complaining. I’m sorry, but we get what we deserve. There is no magic bullet, it takes time and stability to build a good team. Support the team and give everyone a chance or get used to playing Colchester, Hull and Scunthorpe.
