Mick McCarthy admits victories are his only answer to the growing rebellion amid frustrated Wolves fans after another Molineux let-down yesterday.
A barren goalless draw left McCarthy’s side still without a win in seven games during which they have drifted 10 points off the leadership of the Championship.
Wolves are still only two points from the play-off line, but the team’s labouring form and lack of goal power continue to spark criticism of last season’s “Messiah” which at one stage had fans chanting “You don’t know what you’re doing” yesterday.
It was a further sign of impatience rearing its head again among fans who have expected more this season after the manager’s first full season ended in a run to the play-off semi-finals.
But McCarthy is now in the same territory so many of his predecessors faced and said: “That’s what happens and all I can do about that is win football games – but I think I know what I’m doing.
“The fans were unbelievably supportive last season and they’ve got to stay with the team because obviously it’s counter productive to do otherwise.
“I don’t mind getting stick and I would rather me get it than the players. It makes life easier in trying to get them right.
“There is no lack of effort from them and I admire and love them all for that. And there’s no problem in terms of motivation – you can see that by the way the players worked hard to turn it around against Sheffield United.
“The players are a great bunch of lads. They are not washing their hands of it or trying to apportion blame.
“We will stay together and tough it out. I’m not worried about the players because we are all on side together.”
Whether or not new ones will join remains to be seen as the transfer window opens with McCarthy revealing offers are in place – but Wolves are at the mercy of the transfer chain.
“Very often you get an answer from clubs that they will do business providing they can do something first,” he explained. “Other clubs don’t want to weaken their squads without having brought someone in. That’s where we are – waiting.”

Altogether now “Say we want Mad Mick out say we want Mad Mick out”
Simply clueless
McCarthy one question, if you do know what your doing why isnt it working and why hasnt it worked this season. Why do you keep using the same tactics, play players out of position and play players that have not performed and why do you NOT play rosa, davies etc and why wont you change it, why dont you give freddy a run,
I have nothing to say anymore.
Lets sit outside for the first 15 minutes of saturdays match as a sort of peaceful protest.
enough said
“I think I know what I’m doing”
That statement says it all, “I think…
Thinking and knowing are two different things.
The fans think your crap, the fans know you should go!
I think I know what I’m doing….
Hoddle thought he was God!
Just go NOW,McCarthy!
You obviously think your bigger than the club!
Can Mr Morgan use his scouse influence & get us Riise & Hypia?
Hey Morgan, giz a job! I can do that!
Get ready…..you can see it coming can’t you, it’s the fans fault for expecting so much. Well excuse me,i pay me money i voice my opinion. Does MM know what he’s doing? Do certain players? Do most of them realise that the Premiership will be one step too far for them, including the manager. Let’s all meander along here in the division from hell boys taking the money for very little thought or effort. Putting in a shift….if i put in a shift like some players these past weeks i would expect my gaffer to hang me up by the round parts. What does MM do? Good question but i still see the same old faces under performing.
“That’s what happens and all I can do about that is win football games – but I think I know what I’m doing.
Right ?
So is Stephen Ward a Better option on the left wing than Dan Jones ?
Karl Henry & Oli are not the most negative midfield in the CCC ?
Neil Collins is not a donkey ?
Lewis Gobern would not do a decent “job” on the right wing ?
No striker should enter the 18 yard box and attempt to score ?
I expect Bothroyd & Kyle upfront will be our answer goals, Mick ?
Did last season attacking style of football not happen then Mick ?:
Use the squad! Don´t play the same players every game.
Rest out of form players.
Don´t pick the “11 best players” and then try to find a place for them!
Play players in their main position! Don´t play central midfielders as wingers and leave wingers on the bench or in the reserves.
Why not play attacking football at home against teams like Leicester and Sheffield U?
Why not give players like Davies, Rosa, Mulgrew, Gleeson, Gobern, Little a chance in the first team? Then you will se some spark..
How hard can it be?
It´s so obvious to everybody but McCarthy, and if he can´t see this he must leave - NOW!
Despite the rubbish dished up week-in, week-out, I think we should give MM until the end of this season to turn things around and show us he knows what he is doing. If, at the end of the season things are no better, MM will have no excuses, he tried, he failed, time to make way for a better manager. If he goes now, there will always be the question of not giving the manager enough time.
If things have not improved and MM is sacked, wolves fans can sit back and watch what happens over the summer break, who will be the new manager, what players are purchased and what the true ambition of our new Chairman is. Wolves fans should delay the purchasing of their season tickets/new strips during this period. If the club wants our money it will act accordingly and show its ambition.
I for one will not pay to watch this rubbish again.
Up the wolves!
Well MM show us Wolves fans what your made select an attacking line up, go for the kill select Both , East and Keo in one match, lets rip teams apart , so what if we conceed lets just attack, listen im a scientist and even I know that goals win matches, why do u not know this? Attack the goal , here’s my line line up
Hen
Collins
Ward
Edwards
Gray
Henry
Olly
Jarvis
Keo
East
Both
What you think suppporters?
Best we can do with the squad we have?
Looking at some of our fixtures i cant see where our next win will come from in the league. palace, scunthorpe, sheff wed, next 3 games. and as for febs fixtures cant see us winning any there either on current performance. watford, stoke then blackpool. possably some points at scunny but palace have not lost for 13 games with a new manager. so what is everybodys realistic predictions? change is needed soon, my opinion.
start picking the right players for the job then
this manager must be the worst in this league just as bad as robson
maybe they could get a job together sunday morning football i doubt any one would want them.Morgan must see we are the laughing stock, Sky reporter says that we and Shef United would not score till 2009, Wolves first shot on goal 72 Mins real promotion stuff that Mick, I would bet with any one this clown will no way turn this circus round i am afraid we have gone way behind recovery
QPR just made 3rd Signing winger from West Ham
Maybe they will play him in goal I wounder if our Telephones are Red hot with Clubs trying to buy that super star S Ward
Mick it’s not working! the irish connection did not work at sunderland when you signed 10 irish players for them or was they Family members! just a bit of fun but this could see you end up with the inevitable outcome.
Okay we are ten points off the top and ten points from relegation. Laugh if you will but if the current form comtinues by February we will be staring into the unthinkable. The definition of stupidity is to keep doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome. On this basis MM is stupid. Please will someone stop the bus and let MM get off.
Well Micks comment about us finnishing in a automatic promotion place is conforamtion he must be on the weed no sane manager would say that look at the maths oh maybe thats not Micks stongpoint
you cant play well if you do not score.. the fundamental rule of football is If you don’t score you dont win.. MM said”we played well we just can’t score”. Well we didnt play well then did we. plonker!!! … Its like someone swimming the English channel, “he swam very well but drowed 100 yards from shore. Well he didn’t swim well He’s dead.
GET OUT MM YOUR A JOKE….
“SANTA BABY…..
BRING ME A MANAGER…
OW SANTA BABY…
BRING ME A NEW MANAGER TODAY …”
LETS SING THIS ON MATCH DAYS get him out
Still like to know what has happened to Gobern?? does anyone know?
Surely with missing Kightly, Gobern was the answer for our winger problems….but yet he plays either central players Henry or Gibson out there!
Yesterday for me was watching the hoddle times again, everything was so negative.
I so want MM to do it, i just dont think he can or has it in him to do it!
Agree with an earlier post, give him till the end of the season, see what happens and develops till then! If we sack MM now, take a few weeks to get someone in, then rush to sign the players they want, that just would not help the cause for this season. Dont forget wernt we 10th this time last season, and wernt we 11th the season we got promoted at this time!!
For me it’s all about man management. Players like McIndoe and Eastwood are talented and it is up to the manager to get the best out of them. McIndoe left and look what has happened, we have no effective left winger who can beat the man. It’s not too late for Mick. He should recognise that his approach is not working.
My team (of who is fit now)
Hennesey
Foley
Craddock
Ward
Gray
Gobern
Gibson
Oli
Jarvis
Freddy
Keogh
Stop being so over-the-top. We’ve had a bad time of late but a new year can be a new start. With Kightly coming back and the January transfer window opening we have the perfect opportunity to get some players in to re-ignite our season. We don’t concede a great amount of goals and as soon as we get things right going forward we’ll climb the table in no time. We’re still only two points of the play-offs let’s not forget! Up the Wolves.
Back to the future:Can Mr Morgan use his scouse influence & get us Riise & Hypia?
Well, that would do for starters, along with Gerrard, Owen & Pennant raiding down the wings.
Mind you, Mick would probably put THEM on the bench!
Wolves need a starting 11 week-in week-out. MM stop this stupid rotation and favouritism.
A quality central defender alongside Cradock is essential. Please give Rosa, Gleeson or Davies a chance in midfield, Henry and Olofinjana to similar. Daniel Jones on the left-wing!
I firmly believe Eastwood and Keogh is the best strike partnership but MM must chance style of play, Eastwood has ability to run at defenders’ so use it!
Work ethic is great but not always the way to win matches, if strikers have to track back all the time who is going to score!!!!
And lets be honesty, Bully never ran around like a mad-man but scores hundreds of goals. Keogh and Eastwood could be the new Mutch and Bully.
19 dublin wolves:Dont forget wernt we 10th this time last season, and wernt we 11th the season we got promoted at this time!!
Yes, this might be the case, but at the time the manager DID give a ****!
WEDNESBURY, ON THE TWELFTH-DAY OF CHRISTMAS MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME TWELVE IRISH PLAYERS! BUT CAN MORGAN STOP ME!!!
excuses excuses, I have had a season ticket for 15 years and I go to at least 70% of the away games a year so mick we do know what we are talking about and maybe you should yake a look atg yourself. If we were 3 places off the bottom and actually playing well I know the fans would be supportive but I do not blame the fans 1 bit.
Even when we were winning games the football we played was rubbish and boring and it is so sad to see how much we depend on kites the lad is in his early twenties and it seems to me that he totally carrys the team.
Get rid of olifinjana and bothroyd a couple of pre-madonnas who don’t seem to put the effort in like the fans who spend thousands of pounds a year following the team to watch 3rd rate football.
Paul Ince to come to WW
Yes next year when he brings MK Dons To ww to play a league game in the Mighty
Divion 1 game if we stick with this Clown
Roy Keane was Correct about this idiot thats why Moxey Hired him
Please remember people we have been here before with Dave Jones and this was very short sighted looking back. MM will turn this around I am sure once we have Wes Hoolahan running our midfield and a settled frontline of Keogh/Eastwood.
Lucky for us nobody is putting a good run together so we can still turn this around, lets get behind them not on their backs!!
Think back to the dave jones era, we were 11th his first season then lost a 12 point lead over albion to fall into the play-offs, then lost to nowrich, next season won promotion through play-offs, and I feel we played well under Jones but we didn’t run away with the league ever. He also had alot of money to spend, so far mick’s spent very little. If you look at hoddle’s record he did better than Dave Jones and spent less and Mick has done the same to Hoddle. If we buy the right players in Jan we will be play-offs and if we fail next season we will win this league, weather Mcarthy will still be here next season I don’t know, but who would you replace him with????? Why is Ince favourite, I wouldn’t want him. Billy Davies maybe but not Ince! Anyway my point is considering how badly we’ve played we are still in with a shout and Mick needs to spend alot but wisely.
When MM took over 18 months ago, would you have accepted that in 18 months time we would be around mid table and not to far of the play offs, the answer is yes. Many of you have changed this opinion as he did well last season. But the fact remains he has done a decent job, if you look at his whole time at Wolves. Clearly we are doing poorly at the moment and I too question some of Mick’s decisions. But on the whole I think if you look at what Mick took on and how much he’s spent he’s done a decent job and does deserve the lack of support, due to some fans having high expectations, more than they should be. When Mick took over I saw the target being promotion after the third season and still see it like that. Next season is when we don’t just want promotion but should start to require it, if enough funding is given. If MM spends large sums in Januarty, it does mean everyone should start saying, “well he’s had lots of money”. As it will only be for a short time relatively speaking and the benifits of that spending probably won’t be seen till next season. Whatever your thoughts, getting on a team and managers’ back is not going to be productive and therefore those doing so are contributing to more of the very very thing they are complaining about. Just don’t go if you’re not going to be supportive. Come On Lads and Ladies.
Please Mr Morgan ,no more funds for Mr McCarthy,he cannot be trusted to spend it wisely.Perhaps you can suggest that he sell the Greatest find of his managerial career Stephen Ward and all monies raised from this players sale be made available to him

Super Mick
I think the lack of support for the team and the manager has been absolutely disgusting. I am a season ticket holder in the south bank and the atmosphere around the ground over the last few weeks has been breaking my heart. I have never once booed the players or manager or chanted anything against them. Getting on the players backs is not going to help anything. Were not doing well at the moment but what does everyone expect? it’s the same players as last season with the addition of freddy eastwood. Last season we were considering relegation a possibility- so whats changed this season for everyone to start expecting so much? chanting “you dont know what you’re doing” to a man who got us to the playoffs with a youth team and some very good buys? i cant believe my ears at some of the things shouted out from the terraces sometimes.
In summary the people that boo and chant against the players are ruining the one thing that wolves has always had- loyal support (just turning up and booing does not count as support)so please can we get behind the team and give them the confidence they need to get results- otherwise there’s a team down the road whose shirts resemble a certain brand of carrier bag that the “supporters” who like to boo can just as easily go abuse
Dear Mr Morgan, Having supported wolves since 1967 and being a season ticket holder for the last 20 years travelling 170 miles for each home game since being a season ticket holder I now have to vent my anger at someone and guess what! it’s you the proud new owner of my beloved football club wolverhampton.
I wear my shirt with a lot of pride, we were afterall one of the best football clubs this country had evere seen, that was before the demise of OUR team.
Having watched the sort of crap week in week out this season I now find myself weighing up the options for the 1st time in my footballing life, you cannot allow this football club to continue going down the pan and i’m sure Speak for an awful lot of die hard wolves fans all over the world - YOU need to take action.
The last thing you want is for your family & friends to hear the crowd chanting “we want morgan out”, What we want Mr morgan is for you to help our footbal club - your football club progress.
This is the worsed squad of football players that i can remember at wolves and its not as if some of them don’t have talent, its getting the right people in to draw that talent out of them, to motivate them, to make them better palyers and last but not least give US the supporters something to be happy about.
Kind Regards
We’ve got no invention in midfield and the link up between our forwards and midfield is non-existent.
It’s scary to realise just how dependant we’ve become on Kightly for that spark beacuse I think the results speak for themselves when he’s not been playing.
We need at leat two midfielders and a couple of strikers otherwise we’ll be in exactly the same place in a years time.
Get your cheque book out Morgan or it championship football for us for next season.
Completely agree with RealistWolves - well said mate.
I’m waffled on before so I’ll keep it simple this time.
Two things will happen in Jan:
1. Kightly will come back.
2. Wolves will sign players.
I reckon come the end of January we’ll be right back in the playoffs with a stronger squad than for a long time.
If Kightly had played the last seven games, we would have won at least one or two of them!
Keep the faith and keep Mick. He deserves the benefit of our support.
MM is a leopard who’ll never change his spots. There’s enough historical info on the web to show he always works this way so waiting ’til the summer is a waste of time. With his history it makes you wonder why Jez Moxey signed him. Didn’t he do any research? Didn’t he research Hoddle’s history either?
I note that Steve Morgan’s remaining remarkably tight lipped. I’d hope he’s formulating a board shakeup now he’s got his feet under the table. Surely he wouldn’t want JM to be involved in the selection of the next manager, would he? If he does I think we’re in for a long barren spell.
To summarise, JM to go soon followed by MM by Easter. The new manager gets to know the squad and formulate a player purchase plan ready for the end of the season.
We could live with the results and give Mick time, if we could see the lads were really trying and playing well and just being unlucky. But we are not playing well, not good to watch and certainly not worth the money we pay to watch - let alone the wages they are pocketing for doing nothing. If Mick can’t get them to play better and is not willing to give others a go to shake things up then it is hard to see what he is doing to earn his keep. I do not think he should be trusted with cash for Jan spending as he could just waste it - and as we look like going nowhere unless we spend on at least a striker who can score and hopefully a creative midfielder then we should make the change now and let someoen new spend the cash. We are just close enough in touch to make up the ground if we make a strong run in from here - but also as others have said if we continue this relagation form we will finish in a survival fight.
Think MM has been a little thick again and missed the point completely. The fans were not booing Elliott but the quite unbelievable withdrawl of Keogh who along with Gray was the only player who looked like they have a football brain.
Have also noticed that MM shakes all the players hands who come on as sub except Freddie? strange but true, is it because he is Welsh or that he has never played for Sunderland??? would love to know. Notice we are being linked with loads of quality players in the window……..erm Graham Stack
No thanks -
Why has last year’s team been dismantled? Why didn’t Dan Jones replace McIndoe? Why do we never see Gobern, Davies, Gleeson, Little in the squad? And how will we know about Rosa unless we play him? And why do our injured players spend an eternity coming back? I give you Murray, Davies, Gobern, Edwards, Breen, Craddock, Kightley, Jarvis, Jones, all injured and missing dozens of games. And why send out Dan Jones on loan - he was brilliant last season till he got injured, we haven’t seen him in the first team since 2006. I am one big disappointed fan Mick.
MM is CLEARLY missing the point - it is not just wins we need it is performances too! Yes we might be happier with a few more points in the bag and a higher league position but we have won some matches and played CRAP - Coventry, Preston & Colchester to name a few!
With the exception of Olifinjana, Hennessey, Edwards and Ikeme all of yesterday’s squad are your buys, so why should Mr Moragn give you any more funds? You were VERY lucky with Kightly, who you readily admit not seeing before signing, but who else do you class as value for money - please do not repeat the rubbish about Steven Ward.
We have some class youngsters who deserve their chance and I would suggest your only hope is to give them a run
All this would be fine if the unhappiness were just based on us being in a bad run. It is more than that. We have hardly had any entertaining football matches to watch all season. We are falling further away from the promotion places every week. And the type of football we are watching will be very familiar to supporters of Sunderland, Millwall and Ireland.
Getting uninspiring 1-0 wins is as good as it gets under this manager. It is all about putting a shift in and nothing to do with creativity, flair and scoring goals. I want more than that from the team I support. Does Steve Morgan’s silence mean he is contented for boring 1-0 wins being as good as it gets or is the manager’s position under threat?
“The definition of stupidity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” — Albert Einstein
so we are a 1 player team
First game back opposing manager tells 10 outfield players mark MK
thats it simple because all the other clowns would still not score
worst quad of players i have seen in over 30 years as a Season ticket holder
travelling over 170 Miles to home games and attending 80% of away games
people say he can turn it around give him a chance can these people name a game other than norwich at home, charlton at home, cardiff away and the draw at wba away that we have played well in win lose or draw. Please take your rose tinted specs off before you reply honestly.
we play defensive boring uninspiring football. How can anybody cheer it. i dont boo but i also have nothing to cheer about.
MM needs true Wolves fans support not mindless barracking! I do not agree with many things MM has done, but he has only a slightly better than average squad available to him. His purchases this year have been distinctly average and with some loss of form no wonder the high expectation hasn’t been satisfied!
This is no time to change the manager, lets do the blood letting at the end of the season if neccessary.
He needs to get some fresh blood in now, I hope SM backs him.
Just picking Freddie Eastwood is not the answer to our problems!
Yeah Mick, counter productive, just like you rotating the strike pair for every game!!!!
When are you going to realise it wouldn’t matter if we had Berbatov and Tevez upfront, if the midfield aren’t creating the chances then the forwards aren’t going to score!!!
Drop Henry and Oli and bring in a central midfielder in Jan alongside Gibson. It will be a blessing in disguise with Seyi going to the African Nations!!!
What was MM doing playing Henry on the right, what a dipstick!! Jarvis, Davies Rosa can all play there, and better.
Where was Daniel Jones yesterday, i thought he was coming back and could have played left wing. Now ok… Ward I thought had an average game, he is a trier but at the end of the day he is simply not good enough!
Mick do something before Morgan does!!!!!
I have supported MM on this website in the hope we show signs of getting things right, but on the evidence of yesterday the improvement seen at Norwich was a “one off”
B4 xmas I wrote blind loyalty to certain players ie Collins, Steven and Darren Ward and Steven Elliot might get him the sack and yet he persists in rotating the same 15 or 16 players. How is Karl Henry a right winger or right sided midfielder it beggers belief.
Where are the likes of Mark Davies and Lewis Gobern who are now both fit, Denes Rosa, Mark Little, Charlie Mulgrew and Daniel Jones after his loan recall. Why isn’t Matt Jarvis getting a full 90 minutes.
We play Cambridge on Saturday and they will come knowing how we have been playing and they wil play with no pressure or fear. I really hope MM rests a lot of his regulars and gives the players named above a game to show MM decent players are under his nose.
I am nervous about Saturday because we need to create lots of chances and score goals but on the evidence of yesterday that is unlikely to happen.
I like MM as a person he is an honest man but I fear he may fall short of what is required.
If he does get the sack Paul Ince @ MK Dons, Gary Johnson @ Bristol City and Roberto Martinez @ Swansea are all worthy candidates. I really dont want this to happen but the “rot” appears to have well and truly has set in.
Well at least there is some good news this morning.Latest news is mad mick is trawling the north sea for our next signing which is floating around out there. As long as it came out of an irishman it will come to molineux on a bosman as the latest “hot prospect” to ply its miserable trade
Hennessy
Foley Edwards Craddock Gray
Kightly Henry Olofinjana Jarvis
Bothroyd Keogh
Is currently our strongest line up.
This is arguably weaker than this time last season without Mcindoe/Murray/McNamara. And still after all this time we have a very poor centre half pairing and no creativity in midfield.
Mick has been taking us backwards since the end of last season.
He must go now and not be given anymore to squander on more journeymen like ward/gray/breen in January
Once again another season in the wilderness when are Wolverhampton football club going to wake up.
Why do wolves fans suffer season after season and still pay at the turnstiles to see a low standard of football.
We have the financial backing which has been missing to bring in top players to take us out of this division and what have we ended up with , A bunch of seconded rate over paid so called footballing stars
I have followed wolves for over 40 years and like other supports we always think this will be our season only to be disappointed , please get us a manger that is hungry for success not someone that talks in riddles we can not understand Mick McCarthy so how do the players
So please Mr Morgan sort this out before its to late let the board eat some humble pie and get Paul ince back to sought this lot out or why not throw Jose Mourinho a challenge or is that a bit to much for even for him
I don’t think that the fans will be really happy until Jez Moxey goes!
It goes back to the Hoddle era? I also think that that there needs a completely different mindset at Molineux and I don’t claim to know what or who the answer is.
Having said that, I truly believe that Paul Ince (providing he would still like the job) should be given it and for this to work properly Moxey should go along with Mick Mcarthy.
As for the Wolves fans been accused of impatience? Don’t make me laugh, I have observed this situation at Wolverhampton Wanderers for a number of years,I meen decades and we have shown good support, patience and when the times right we show our disapproval.Football fans can know best and in this particular situation I believe the majority of Wolves fans have got it right,TIME FOR A CHANGE AND KEEP OUR SEASON ALIVE AND THE FUTURE BRIGHT AT THE GOLDEN PALACE !!!
well said steve bull stand 43
I believe Mr Morgan will come out of his shell and talk very very soon, he has to and like you said this is more than a bad run and cannot be allowed to continue, we all spend hard earned cash to watch our team play entertaining football - not the sort of crap we have had to endure this season and it is not going to go the way of comment 37 king tom.
sorry mate
In the immortal words of the Moody Blues “Go Now”
Is anyone really surprised that we are in this situation? Look at the team that played yesterday……….Gray,Collins,D.Ward,Henry,S.Ward,Bothroyd,Gibson,Jarvis.All fabulously POOR TO AVERAGE players!! Several of them signed from championship teams because they couldn’t get in the first team!! How can you build a sucessful team signing this calibre of player? Add Stephen Elliot,Freddy Eastwood and Darren Potter to the list and you have 11 players that McCarthy signed that are just not good enough. Several weeks ago he was quoted as saying that Matt Jarvis was “ready to be unleashed onto championship defences!!” He cant even make the starting 11 with the one good signing he has made Kightly out injured!Would you trust the man to spend your money…..I’m sure Steve Morgan won’t!! He sounds more like McGhee everyday “we played well in the first half” was a comment made after the debacle at Hull……..No we didn’t Mick!! We were rubbish, just like the words that come out of your mouth after every lamentable, boring and inept performance!!
TIME TO GO!!
Mr Morgan
Sign Leroy Lita for a start to show us YOU mean business
Right so there have been some dodgy results recently. Every team goes on a bad run and this is certainly a bad one.
However, all the doubters, how many of you were the same when we were in a worse position at this time of the season under Dave Jones - what happened after that?? We only lost 3 games after New Year I think, once at Premiership Southampton in the cup, once away at Pompey who finished top and a right hammering at Brighton as I remember.
I totally agree Mick has made some strange decisions recently, but so did Jones at that time. Lets look back 18 months and remember where we were then…..in a right mess!!! Mick has done a great job since then. He’s made some decent signings and yes some dodgy ones….so does Alex Ferguson!!
I agree with whoever above said we should give him til the end of the season, after all if everyone had had their way with Jones at this stage that season……
KEEP THE FAITH PLEASE!!!!!
rich 49 well said we have gone backwards
It is a managers job to take a team forward
I just can not see MM doing this and please no money do you really think he would spend on good players ( Major Signings Stack and S Wards Father)
For the first time in 30 years of supporting Wolves, I turned off a radio commentary because I was so embarrassed, dejected and frankly bored by what I heard!
The dwindling MM supporters are guided by the fact that he is a decent bloke, he over-achieved last season and our position ain’t that desperate!
As to the first, it’s true but “decent and honest” are pretty far down the essential requirements on a manager’s job description. As to the second, true again but success when expectation is zero is a lot easier than delivering expected (and promised!) improvement. As to the third, I don’t give a fig that other so-called big teams like Sheff Utd or Soton are also struggling or that we’re just outside the play-offs. We’re half way through the season and apart from the first halves against Norwich (home) and Plymouth (away), there’s been nothing to get excited about!
The most impressive thing about his entire management was the way he diffused the first meeting with Roy Keane when Sunderland came to Molineux last season. He was very gracious - as was Keane - but Keane never went back on his comments about MM’s managerial abilities.
I was never for MM but would happily change my view that he should go if there was evidence of change, leadership, direction or entertainment! There is nothing but the evidence of a Sunderland downward spiral and the decent man should do the decent thing and admit he doesn’t know what he’s doing and resign!
WE’RE 10TH NOT 24TH!
THREE POINTS OFF PLAYOFFS. I GO TO ALL HOME MATCHES SOME AWAY, I’VE SEEN THE CRAP FOOTBALL WE PLAY, BUT HAVE FAITH IN MM, HE TURNED US AROUND BEFORE, AND CAN DO IT THIS TIME.
GETTING ON HIS BACK WONT HELP NO ONE.
It’s up to Morgan to get rid, not us. I apreciate we’re underperforming but its not the end of the world.
Have faith people, the Albion are the enemy not our manager.
i remember us saying super mick played fast, fluid attacking football. well i think we should keep him then. i think it was genious to put karl henry on the right to stop huckerby….. not. wolves to sign hartson yay!!! 100% true, aaron mclean joining wolves 100% true, daniel fox joining 100% true, joe ledley will not be joining so we will now go for Somen a. Tchoyi 100% true. believe me i have contacts who are working behind the scenes at wolves.
Oh dear dear dear.
I know football is all about opinions and people who pay their hard earnt money. We are the most fickle of fans and lets keep it real here.
1) Mick knows what he is doing. Ask him to do your job and he wouldn’t be able to do it so don’t imagine you know more about his job than you do. He knows what the players eat, when they sleep, when they sh!t and when they make sweet love.
2) We are still in a good position. Last season was an adrenaline driven fluke so don’t get paranoid.
3) Name his replacement. Don’t say Paul Ince please.
4) If you went to the game on Saturday (i hope you did as that is the opinion that counts) and were one of the no brainers who were chanting “you don’t know what your doing” were you one of the people with excellent forsight singing “super mick McCarthy” 30mins prior?
5) Do you think that chanting crap like that helps the players? Get behing the team. No matter what. Remember Southampton?
Now shoot me down.
First of all WOLFIEE (11) Have you been to a game this season? How do you possibly leave out FOLEY when he has arguably been our best player! i dont see premiership clubs after anyone else in our defence!! The problem is simple we still lack a creative central midfielder to help out kightly as he is the only player to create anything, point proven since he has been injured! I think if we buy another striker it is such a waste of money as they will just be another one in a long line to sign and have nothing created for them. How can you judge our strikers on the chances they get! The exception being keogh who is not a goalscorer but everyone appreciates that. Also need a central defender(with pace) and a left sided player. Can 3 players really be that hard to get in. If not for god sake give the two players we already have that captain their country a go… DAVIES and GLEESON but play them in the correct position and not right back or in goal!!! Oh one last thing if you honestly believe HENRY is ‘the best defensive midfielder outside the prem” Just LEAVE now.
I’m so depressed with our form over christmas it’s total garbage? any wolves fan can pick a better line up at the momment than merlin mick,he has’nt sat on his wand has he.
Molly knew Mick turned off the radio.
Turn off your broadband connection pal.
“You have no say. You don’t pay.”
Totally agree with 51.I am sick to death of the rubbish coming from the club in particular from Moxey.
eg
1 We need a more patient culture in an effort to bring greater stability.
2 His reign is only 16 months old
and Rome was not built in a day.
What Moxey seems to forget is the longer we remain outside The Premiership the more difficult it will be to get promoted.Even Morgan’s millions will be less than the money the relegated clubs receive. I am convinced the people who run Wolves are quite happy to remain in The Championship.
MM started this period saying he would take 12 points from it. So by his own standards, he failed to deliver, shouldn’t that in it’s self tell him, his team is either average, average, or average, or he is being tactically naive.
Given the gravitas of the situation and the preparation he’s had, there is no excuse to have such a poor team. And now we have a crisis rapidly turning into a disaster. In reality we’re all going to have to suffer like we do every season.
Gobern, Davies etc have been injured most of the last 2 seasons & you dozy plums expect mccarthy to play them????????????
Let’s get Roy keane in he’s only spent 40 million on utterly pants players
Oh…..
Happy New Year bytheway…
54: Spot on
No.35! Get a life you dope! you are obviously Albion in disguise.
Regarding the current performance situation at Wolves, it has become obvious we are a one man team and we never realised. Kightly is the only player that runs menacingly with the ball. All the other players are too concerned with defending and not making mistakes as the MM work ethic is prohibiting the flare.
The midfield wins the ball and then looks clueless as to what to do next, they never burst forward with the ball and the passing is uninventive, the forwards are sat on the halfway line running into corners or tackling back, they are also to lightweight and panicky and unfortunately lack class. The defence, well, they are doing a job for me.
When was the last time any of our forwards got into a one on one situation from a midfield pass??
And how many chances is Bothroyd gonna get?
Play Eastwood and Keogh and let Eastwood do what he wants, changing his game like Mick has done has been criminal.
We must change the way we play, its embarrassing not being able to score.
I still trust Mick, but he is losing my respect by not putting this right.
Listened to MM interview-well less than inspiring–The poor shows continue–Why did he take K off he was the only player making ground-Why does B take all the corners is it because the rest cannot kick a ball thirty yards–Yes thats it- I am right–we cannot kick-shoot-pass accuratly–Persistant head ball—Loosing the plot—Yes hav lost it-Will not be at Cambridge fear the worst—I agree with the SOUTH BANK——————–Dave H
What’s this garbage people are writing about Moxey? What’s he got to do with the price of fish? He’s not picking the team, it’s not his fault we can’t score for toffee. Why should we get rid of Moxey, he is an awsome business man! I have as much reason to hate him as anyone. He let some albion “fan” put a tesco bag on my season ticket seat and then charged me 5iver for the privilege of moving seat. But beyond that one act of stupidity he has done more good for this club then anyone on these message boards! Camara for one was a deal and a half, lescott, keene. And also to be fair to Moxey he always seems to get his man in the transfer windows! He is one of the best CEO’s around, end of!!!! Is MM one of the best managers around, i’m not too sure to be honest!
Just one question numpties - which top class manager with a good track record would come to a club with so many short termist stab you in the back fans as we have got? We are almost as bad as newcastle in our levels of over-expectation. Get real, most managers would touch us with a barge pole.
Steve McClaren perhaps?
Lets put this all in perspective and remember that relative to our final league position our goal scoring record over the last several seasons has been poor. This means also under Jones and Hoddle. It is true that many teams still come to Moilneux and play 4-5-1 but we just seem tactically far too naive to counter it.
Please can Bully have more of a direct input into team affairs? I’m sure he could do no harm in instilling some confidence into our strikers at least.
Here’s the answer
OUT - McCarthy, Moxey, Neil Collins, Stephen Ward, Darren Ward, Stephen Elliott & Jay Bothroyd
IN - Paul Ince plus what he assess is needed for Wolves to fire on all cylinders
NOTE - The players mentioned in the OUT list are all Kermits regulars/favourites. Thats nearly half the team, if half the team underperforms the way they do and still manage to get into the starting 11/16 then this is really bad management. And it is Bad Management down the line…Moxey to Kermit to those so called players who pick themselves week in week out
Oh and…when Kites comes back he will take several weeks before he is firing again, just reading on wolves.co.uk that he is scared of twisting and turning at the moment. What good will he be if he cannot do that?
Mr You think you Know it all have you ever taken part in any sport
I am a Marine on leave going back to Afganistan to Fight the Taliban
as some other lad said if we dont perform 100% its good night
We are there so people can talk Free, so shut your Mouth slagging people who are entilted to there say or get signed up and lets see your bottle.
Tell MM loads of Taliban Grafters looking for clubs
good Luck
se ya soon
Ed Brown(34)…..absolutley right!!!
Moxey and McCarthy can’t sign needed players–not Capaldi, not Mancienne, not Gabbidon, not Cahill, not Ridgewell, not Sharp, not Lafferty, not Ledley! But we’ve lost Taffy Evans as an active coach, McIndoe, Kunle coach and academy director Chris Evans; none replaced by new men from outside.
Steve Morgan’s reputation is in dire peril due to his backing the existing regime. Why didn’t Morgan either let McCarthy go to Korea or sack Moxey? Or both?
All that can be seen is stagnation and decline!
Windsor Wolf(73)..Absolutely right.
Great to see some sense rather than the same old head in the bloody clouds crap that people are pouring onto here.A bloody reality check is needed here…..who the hell would want to come to here with this going on not 9 months from all the Magic mick comments…..two faced too me!!Lets get real shall we,I’ve already said that if we were to go up this year the club couldn’t handle it!!!!
UP THE WOLVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
well said marine 1,mr know it all is a fool
You keep saying mm must go, I agree but take the other idiot moxey with him. as for transfer money i wouldnt give mm five pence after the rubbish he has bought allready. please mr morgan if you are are a buisnessman you know they must go.
We are in a good position are we Mr know it all, does anyone actually agree with this with a brain?Or are they just the ramblings of a madman ?
59 - exactly !!! tremendous post LCW.
you look at what happened to that poor bloke from motherwell, that’s something to moan about. we are 2 POINTS OFF PLAY OFF PLACES, not 22 points off. ive been season ticket holder for years and yes the standard at moment is poor but stick by him for god sake. you don’t know what goes on training ground or what reasons are for poor form. yes i agree MM makes baffling team selections and has his favourites like every manager in country. but chanting for his head ain’t gonna make em play no better.
i feel ashamed when i hear our fans boo the team off at half time, if you don’t like what your seeing don’t go. let’s face it we are the newcastle of the championship. we think we have divine right to be top every season.
if morgan doesn’t spend £10 million in january it’ll be his turn come february no doubt.
Spot on Realistwolf & King Tom.
What MM inherited when he came to us was ZILCH, with the Club up the creek without a paddle. Despite that, he then concocted, mainly from within, a team which sadly(?) fell at the semi-final hurdle. Be-grudgingly (?) he was allowed to splash a bit of cash during the prolonged and uncertain saga that the change of ownership brought. We started this season well but have fallen away this last 7 or 8 games. Have faith!!! Trust MM. We will be buying during the window and we will be there at the end of the season. HAVE FAITH.
C’mon me babbies.
we are as close to the bottom as the top of the league in terms of points ie mid table. For a team looking for promotion after so many games, its a poor points tally and dreadful football with the worst attack record bar norwich in the whole league.
I urge everyone in the ground against Palace to chant ‘There’s only one Paul Incy’
87 point taken but we did have a load of hungry never say die play for the club kids who now dont even get a game, I serve with many kids 18 and 19 who are doing a adult job and i tell you i am very proud of them, fighting to just stay alive, so maybe MM should give a try to the youth they cant do any worse then the super stars in the team at the moment yesterday was SH#t
extra duties would be my answer
MM you have an answer to the teams problems! GO TO KOREA..
I agree that the football is not great at the moment but some of you Wolves fans who boo when players come on the pitch do nothing for the particular players confidence or the team any good at all. I realise that you pay your money season after season and so do I. The expectation is great and my expectation is included in this. I am as frustrated as the rest of you but
get behind the players cause lets face it if we can’t get behind the players then we aint going nowhere because their confidence will be at rock bottom. I have said this on numerous occasions they need our support not our wrath.
To say you want MM out is ridiculous… once again I am appalled to call some people fellow wolves fans…. stop being fickle… changing managers every season is NOT THE ANSWER TO SUCCESS, some people seem to not realise that you need time to build something really worth seeing…. rome wasn’t build in a day so some people should keep their opinions to themselves as they are unjustified and not warranted!
89. Are you so sure Mr Ince would want to come to us? He s after all doing very well at the Dons. I’m not convinced we will find any manager willing to come to Molineux.
It is well documented in the press that Wolves fans expect too much, and far too many teams have come to Wolves with a view to winding us up and getting us to turn on our team, and here we are doing it all over again.
94 - can you explain exactly why you don’t think any manager would want to come to wolves. am u sure you don’t mean walsall?
we have :
1. a chairman worth £450 million
2. a great stadium
3. good attendances
4. a good history
i expect our OAP fans to have high expectations due to them remembering when we were a massive club.
why have our younger fans got these high expectations, is it the ruck load of trophies we have won in the last 25 years? the endless amount of seasons we have spent in the top flight over the last 25 years?
we could have been an extended asda car park if it wasn’t for hayward. so whichever 11 players wear that shirt and whichever manager sends them out BACK THEM.
Who do you think you are kidding Mick McCarthy
If you think this team is fun!
We are the boys who will settle for a draw,
We are the boys who just can,t bloody well score!
So who do you think you are kidding Mick McCarthy
If you think we,re on a run?
NUFF SAID!!!!!
Who in their right mind would want to come and manage wolves with this lot of moaning sods!!!!
Paul Ince would be bloody mad…..doesn’t anyone think that the negative calls for MM’s head gets around the football community??
I’m bored with the whole bloody lot of it.We are getting as bad as Newcastle.
hello fellow wolves fans,
hope ye can all be a little careful with all the anti-irish stuff which i see creeping in. The nationality of any manager would probably influence his signings and especially when Irish league players are very cheap to sign - as mostly it is a part-time professional set-up.
I’m a wolves fan all my life - the doog was my hero. I had little time for mccarthy when he managed Ireland but was pleasently suprised by his job for wolves last season. The jury is out this season but I think you have to be an optimist to support wolves.
so please stick to the real criticisms and less of the nationality stuff.
thanks
ollie (waterford, ireland)
ONE PAUL INCE THERE IS ONLY ONE PAUL INCE
Steve Morgan must sack Mick McCarthy and go to cheshire and gorvel to bring Ince to the club when we at least stilll got a chance of going up.. Remember what Bruce did for Blues and Keane did for Sunderland. If Ince came to us who know we could do it.
for all you “wolves” fans??? who are moaning about the positio we are in - take a look at the same period as last season,PLD25,W11,D6,L8,GF25,GA27,PTS39 that season we lost the 26th.
This season,PLD26,W9,D10,L7,GF24,GA23,PTS37 last season we were 13pts off top this seaon we are 10-so why the moans, why did’nt you call for MMs head last season! We have a long way to go and as for Ince as manager - are you taking the P-support the team and manager and maybe you might,MIGHT get the results you want.
I AM WITH THE WOLVES, ARE YOU?? MMs gold and black army.
Question to Roy Keane…..”In words of one syllable how would you describe Mick’s managerial talents ?????”
NathanWolves (75) I seem to remember Moxey took a nice big bonus on that Camara deal. Did he have the clubs best interests when he made the deal or his own. If he was so commited to the club he would have not taken this massive bonus for one deal.
If he got that much for the Camara deal, how much did he get for the Lescott deal.
Also i seem to remember that when Wolves were relegated from the premiership the board gave themselves nice big bonuses that year as well. And what for “failure”, don’t try and big him up, yes he has kept the purse strings tight but what has this delievered, ‘Stagnation that’s what’. We will never make it to the premiership because the club is run as a medium sized business with a medium sized business plan.
We fan’s will all be here long after Morgan, moxey and McCarthy have gone. And for all of you who say we are not true fan’s because we have an opinion that is not the same as yours, its because e all have opinions that we can keep the posts going.
For all us wolves fans whether fickle, moaners or happy clappers, please don’t boo the players, get behind them, if we want to protest at the poor leadership throughout the club then don’t enter the ground for 15 mins or leave 15 mins early when we are playing rubbish.
C’Mon you Wolves, Keep the Faith.
Marine 1 give it a rest! Mr know it all is right, too many armchair pundits airing their worthless views on here and if you want to play cowboys and Indians with the sand jockeys thats your business personally I think my postman does a more productive job.
I agree that MM akes some crazy decisions (Differennt class for one) but he hasnt become a good manager overnight. this bloke was heralded as a saint last year, but in a matter of months, is perceived as ‘Mad Mick’
That is crazy! Sack will NOT help!
Saturday was my first match of the season after serving in Afghanistan for months. What a difference a year makes.
I couldn’t believe the lack of atmosphere and the despondent nature of the support.
Yes the players need to give the crowd something to shout about, but it’s a Catch 22 scenario. Of course this run of results is frustrating, but getting on the Manager’s back will do nothing to change that. Fan power has had too much influence in the past and we’ve lost some good Managers, when continuity is what has been needed.
I know many will disagree, but I think you should all just get behind the Manager and team and if it doesn’t work out at the end of the season, the Board will decide on his fate. That’s their job not ours.
The Albion fans wanted their manager out and look at them now. A little patience could be the right thing.
Lay of Mick and get behind him. But if he was to give Freddie Eastwood more time on the pitch he would do the job he was bought to do. The club needs to buy a player who can serve the ball to our front men.
I wouldn’t know the first thing to manage a football team as MM wouldn’t know how to fix a Poker Machine!
As for BOOing the team, how would you feel if your spouse BOOed you for a poor show in the cot!
Support the manager and support the team.
It is not our god given right to be in the Premier division!
We have to earn it!!!!!!
Old Gold & Black
Its not the position we are in the table that concerns me (as some of you keep sayin were 10th & only 2 points off the play-offs) its the football we’re playing and the performances we’ve been showing, carry on like this and we’re just gonna slip further away and lower down the table.
CAN ANYONE OUT THERE TELL ME HOW MANY TIMES MM HAS KEPT THE SAME TEAM THIS SEASON.
Essex Wolfie - SwampyWolf. Its a pleasure to see your opinion. I’m glad some people can see beyond the hire and fire culture that shrouds this club. All the best with the poker machines - I’m sure a few people on this site will tell you how to do it better and what parts fit where better etc…etc…etc…
As for Marine 1 - AT EASE SOLDIER.
All the best out there - I mean that - but don’t preach to me about blood sweat and tears - freedom of speach sh!t. Don’t get War and conflict mixed up with Championship football opinion.
In your opinion, and only football opinion, you are telling us that Wolves should give the youth a chance. I take it that your comment was flippant and I will ignore it. If you think MM doesn’t know what he has got in the youth teams or you think you have a better understanding then stay over here and get a managerial job - Capello style.
As for that snotbag savage wolf - what u do for a living? Traffic warden? YOU don;t know what YOU’RE saying.
Dave S (105), Mowbray was indeed criticised but he did something very positive about it didn’t he -he brought in players that were better than those he had already and he did not confine his scouting to Ireland or Sunderland either! McCarthy has brought in only 2 “class” players so far while 1 other has yet to show us his worth but the others are dross! Last season, as I keep reminding everyone, was last season, it counts for nothing now. For McCarthy to get supporters off his back he needs to return to playing attacking football with 2 wingers just like last season and cut out playing with 9 defenders (which by the way, is why we have the best defensive record!). He has the players to do it but for reasons he won’t tell us, he does not play them.(He tells us everything else which most of the time is like the football being played now!) - Stop playing players out of their preferred positions and stop the rotation system week in and week out. A settled side gels much better than one with constant changes. IF McCarthy did ONLY these 2 things, supporters would support regardless of win, lose or draw but to continue the way we are at present will mean that tensions will get even greater until possibly a mass protest could occur outside the ground on a match day and who wants to see that? Great column inches for the media though!
For those of you old enough to remember the days of Bill McGarry’s first spell, we had a team of committed and entertaining players. It was worth the entrance money to see them every match but compared to those days what we see now is total crap and McCarthy has to take the blame. He is the man responsible for team matters and he is the man who must put it right because if he is not up to the job, then the club must find someone who is! Steve Morgan so far has kept his mouth firmly shut but what is going through his mind?
It must surely be just a matter of time before he says something and when he does it may not be what someone wants to hear?
If things carry on the way they are, mick’s prediction will come true, we will get a top two finish. Oh..hold on im reading the league upside down.
McCarthy is just another in the long line of managers, appointed by clueless chairmen that just ain;t good enough. We haven’t had a TRUE manager since Bill McGarry.
103 and 110 you should be ashamed of your selfs
WE Need a Tony Mowbray.Someone with the courage to attack! How many goals would Freddy have if he was at West Brom?
…And Marine 1 - Listen to your mate at point number 105.
Contrasting opinions ….
Moxey appoints the managers. Moxey under spent in the Premier as he admitted. Moxey tried to give Hoddle another contract. Moxey takes an age in the transfer market to do anything.
Mr Morgan, Moxey needs to go. One common factor in all our failres is him!
It’s really all been said, everyone is entitled to an opinion, but doesn’t it seem ironic that everyone except LORD AND MIGHTY (Mr Jez Moxey)has the same opinion.
We must keep bombarding them with these messages. Surely Mr Morgan didn’t make his money suffering fools gladly, how long before the cushy little number that the C.E.O.and Manager have got become too much for him to take…
Mr Morgan grew up with Liverpool teams playing with passion and pride, when did we last see that at our games?
I’ll be there on Sat because WW are THE team that I support, they will hopefully exist long after i’ve gone. We should remind ourselves that all these people have been involved with other teams at times in some shape of form. When they leave (or are fired) they will get another nice little earn and say that they are passionate about that particular team, they are custoians of MY passion they should BEWARE of our growing anger……………….
we heed an attacking minded manager mick is too negative, i want attacking football not boring 1-0 stuff
Westy - thanks.
Tell me more then numb nuts. Don’t stop at that, why should I be ashamed?
can someone tell me what Paul Ince has actually dont to deserve the wolves job, he kept up macclesfield, and is top of the league in league 2 with a team good enough to compete in league one (not that hard me thinks!!!)
Please all think this through, wolves are far different cry to MK Dons!! he aswell as bully need to learn there trade before attempting the wolves jobs!!
I like the Johnson suggestion from Bristol City!!
In the Premiership £30M won’t buy a top team. The team that goes up has to also have a foundation of players who can make it at the top grade as well. I can see maybe 2 or 3 in the current team that could expect to survive in the Premiership.
If by some fluke we got promoted, then we have to rebuild a whole team again. Sven Goran Erikson has done it at Man City, but it cost much more than £30M.
I don’t want another suffering season in the Premiership, just to drop back down again for the next season. Let’s go up intending to stay there! M&M can’t achieve that. Lets see some ambition from the board, put the Wolves back where they belong!
But it was good to beat Man United wasn’t it?
54 years a Wolf.
i think we need to giv mick a chance people say bring in freddy but he aint scored since august so there is another question mark cum on mick i have faith
MM has a chance to try something new today, LIKE Rosa and M.Davies in the middle, what’s the worst that can happen, we haven’t won in 7!!!!!!!!!! if anyone didn’t need reminding!
