An eight-year-old girl was showered with glass when a car careered off the road, smashing into a caravan and shunting it into her Sandwell home.
The red Ford Fiesta crashed through the front garden wall of the home in Hawes Lane, Rowley Regis. It then shunted the caravan through a bedroom window where the youngster was playing.
The car then knocked a brick pillar into a motor home, which was parked on the driveway.
The homeowner, father-of-two Kevin Williams, said he heard his young daughter Lucy, screaming as she was showered with glass. He was sitting in the living room of the bungalow with his nine-year-old son Morgan at the time.
The shocked father said: “It sounded like an earthquake, and I heard screaming from my little daughter who was in her bedroom so I ran through into her room.
“All the coving and plaster had come off the inside of the wall and the whole room and her bed was covered in glass.”
The family said they do not know whether they will be able to spend Christmas at home, as the front bedroom wall will need to be demolished before it can be rebuilt – work set to cost thousands of pounds.
Mr Williams added: “I’m still really upset and my wife is heartbroken.”
Mrs Williams was returning from work and saw the accident happen as she crossed the road to the house. Her husband said: “The car was embedded in the side of the motor home, which is our holiday home and my transport.”
Mr Williams said his daughter had been shocked by the smash but unhurt and has gone to stay with her grandmother.
Fire crews were called to the scene at around 6pm yesterday.
The emergency services said it was remarkable that no-one was injured.
