I was in Bruges in Belgium on Saturday and like any typical English bloke, I stumbled into ‘De Pub’, an Irish themed public house, writes Wolves blogger Nathan Lloyd.
On the various plasma screens dotted around the bar was West Brom’s game against Charlton.
I sat and watched and felt a twinge of jealously at just how fluid Albion’s football was and at how extremely entertaining the game was.
Our flat draw against QPR really hammered home just how far apart the two teams currently are, both in playing style and league position.
Yes we are missing key personnel like Kites and our first choice centre halves; Craddock & Breen.
But that doesn’t excuse the fact that whilst Albion can score 4 goals in a game, it has taken us the last 10 games to muster up just 7 paltry goals.
I don’t really think that Karl Henry’s comments yesterday about Wolves turning a corner really held much weight with many fans.
After all, this was on the back of a 0-0 with a QPR side still rooted to the bottom.
I know they (QPR) beat Burnley away the game before and therefore they had probably turned a corner themselves, but it was still a depressing score line to swallow and a rather ill-timed comment from Karl Henry.
If we are to get anywhere near a promotion or play-off slot, we should be putting teams of this caliber to the sword week in, week out.
There is however a few things I think Mick could implement to turn the tide.
I would like to see Freddy given a proper run out.
At the moment Mick seems to panic very quickly when a striker doesn’t score for a couple of games and chops and changes his forward line more than Rafa Benitez.
And one of the reasons our front men are failing to hit the net is that we are not getting penetration from the midfield or on the flanks from defence.
We simply have too many defensively minded players in the starting XI and without Kites, virtually no spark or creativity anywhere.
Up front we have some real talent In Freddy, Keogh and on the odd occasion when he can be bothered, Bothroyd.
These players can score goals if given a proper run out in the side and some better service.
So how about playing the successful young blood from last season; Mark Little, Mark Davies and Lewis Gobern. Players with pace and creativity.
Mix the first team up and perhaps inject a bit of passion back into a side that appears to have lost its way.
Mick must also get it right in the January transfer window, but he shouldn’t waste time looking for strikers.
I think he should target centre halves and a creative playmaker in the middle if he doesn’t fancy Mark Davies or Darron Gibson when George pops off to the African Cup.
We can’t keep plodding along with the same back 4, the same midfield and a different attacking 2 game after game.
I would plead with Mick to try something different over the busy Christmas period, otherwise come January it may well be too late and the team in the Tesco’s colours might well be out of reach.

Excellent blog Nathan and one I am sure that will mirror the thoughts of many wolves supporters . It seems that Mick has his heart only with players who put in more sweat than skill during a match and this must change somewhat if we hope to be in the hat for promotion this season . Mark Davies is , in my opinion , the most talented young player to come through the academy since Robbie Keane and , although we are unaware of his attitude to training etc.each day , there seems little reason for not playing him now . Freddie should also be given a decent run and again it seems that Mick has something against the lad . Lewis Gobern , unfortunately , seems to be always injured and it is difficult therefore to see him getting any sort of run particularly since he is unlikely to be fit to play before Kightly returns .
We have been sayin 4 weeks that mark davies should be in the startin XI but he not irsih is he? can little play left back or can foley play there? breen is no where near good enough (well not no more)! he to old!
lee collins who is on lone at hereford i think should be given a chance!!
elliot missed a sitter on sat and if it was eastwood who missed it MM would of had him hanging from the rafters!!
MM OUT ASAP. thank you very much mick i will always love ya but enough is enough. TARA
UP THE WOLVES
all very true!!! but i ca c mick goin 4 it? we all know thats wot we need! if a team scores more than 2 against us you know we cant win.
we have got sum real quality in this side, but none of them play!
i agree davies must play, keogh(despite not scoring many) must also play as he makes things happen.freddy is the only player who u would bank on to score the easy chances, which we miss atleast 1 per game! a team of hennesy, foley, craddock, edwards, jones(out on loan),kites, davies, olof, jarvis, eastwood and keogh wud entertain and win games? surely?
I totally agree, we need to mix it up, bring back some of the successful youngsters from last season.
Very good blog Nathan - summarises the position perfectly and I can’t think of anything I would add. But despite this, we have to support the manager and the team we have 100% and nothing less will do !!
I couldn’t agree more, we need a spark in the midfield someone who can get the ball and do something not pass it backwards for it to be humped up the field for the strikers to chase. I would also like to see a new full back we have a decent one with Foley but nothing on the other side which is hampering our attacking options. And for crying out loud give Freddy a starting chance he is the best goal scoring striker we have and we need goals.
When Bothroyd can be bothered? Have you even watched Eastwood this year he runs 2 yards if he doesn’t get the ball then that’s it he isn’t interested. I’m not saying Bothroyd is much better but he holds the ball and links the play far better.
Nathan great blog can anybody throw any light on the story MM has bid £600K for George Elokobi from Colchester?
excellent blog nathan, we r now sitting in 8th and a few more indifferent results over xmas could really mess things up badly. i agree with bringing in younger players and cant understand why jarvis and eastwood do not play each week. elliot works hard but just doesnt score. the injury to kites has exposed wolves as something of a one trick pony, we are looking lioke a mid table team…january must bring in some new blood and at least put denes rosa on the bench
The nail has been hit squarly on the head here.
Our problems do not realte to the strikers, they relate to the midfield, and to a lesser degree, the full backs.
Ward on the left is a functional player, how many chances has he create3d this year and how many times does he turn a full back around. Compare him to kites, compare him even to Kennedy when he was playing well and getting 4,5 or 6 good crosses on a game - Wards best efforts are looping balls from deep, not whipped crosses from the line.
George, who many people rate, is incapable of making a tackle, more importantly, he needs too much time - George is nearly a great player but how many instances of poor control, or being robbed for dawdling have we seen.
Henry is a good player, capable of turning out of trouble and buying himself time but he never runs with the ball and never plays a killer pass - he slows the play down far too much to be an effective playmaker. He does have worth to the team as a defensive midfielder if played alongside a mobile attacking midfielder who gets into the box late and scores goals, for example a younger Colin Cameron.
On the right Kites is superb even if he has struggled a little faced with 2 or 3 defenders in possesion. His problem is wolves have few other threats meaning teams can afford to double up on him - as we have seen recently, stop Kites and Wolves no longer threaten.
At the back, Foley is very solid but doesnt overlap and help out the right wonger quite enough. Grey tries but his legs are not quite up to the job.
So a pacey left winger, a creative attacking central midfielder and maybe a decent left back are the priorities - we have enough strikers that should be able to do a job given some service and our goals against record suggest no real need for any more centre halves.
One final point, lumping the ball 30 yards at 5 foot nothing Elliot is never going to break down Championship defences and is part of the reason we are under pressure at home, we dont retain the ball up front.
7.
Eastwood has, admittedly, had one or two rough games but they have come when Freddy got dropped by Mick after scoring 4 goals in 5. These days when Freddie is in the team not only does he have a positive impact in driving the play forwards, in a similar style to Kites but he can also be relied upon to tackle back if he loses the ball. He plays intelligently and probably provides us with more defence cutting passes than either Henry/Olofinjana put together.Unfortunately, this year, it seems Mick doesn’t want too many attack minded people in his team and is adamant on blaming the strikers for not scoring rather that looking further down the field at the supply line. Just out of curiosity does anybody know how many of our 22 goals have been scored from set pieces this year?
Please Mick, I honestly like you, but you’ve got to sort it out and be a bit more positive!!
Totally agree with this blog however I think the proposed solution is flawed. Gobern and Davies have barely been fit all season and I wouldn’t drop one of our more consistant players in Foley for Little. I agree Eastwood needs a starting role with Keogh to create for him. I would also start with Jarvis on the left.
could try changing the appraoch used in training.
How about giving each of the strikers a long necked banjo [as used in the film Deliverance], put them in a field of cows panicked by a couple of fireworks and see how many cow’s backsides the strikers can hit with their banjos in say 15 minutes?
The two that hit the most cow’s backsides get to play upfront next game!
What a difference a week makes in football Nathan?
There is one thing that the club need to implement and that is get rid of the ‘loose mentality’ and find winners. It was no coincidence that Dave Jones was the most successful Wolves Manager in the last 20 years, it was because he bought and played winners.
I do not buy into the theory that he was a ’spender’ because at the time every club was spending and transfer prices were out of control!
No Ince, Irwin, Blake, Miller, Newton, Lescott, Rea in MM’s team, and it shows.
For heavens sake Morgan do not let MM waste any more money on average players.
One last point:
Mark Davies is injured, he may never be fit, it is a shame for the lad but that is why we can’t pin any hope on him.
As I said about the Kightly injury a couple of weeks ago, the club keep the true extent of injuries secret, for some reason.
Get real Wolves fans.
Winners or loser’s, which is it to be Mr Morgan?
Nathan. It pains me to admit it but WBA are years ahead of us in terms of developement.I watched their game hoping they would lose of course but instead i found myself admiring the way they destroyed Charlton with free flowing football that we can only dream about. We have at best a team of triers with little ability whereas they have a team oozing class and guile.I thought this season with WBA losing some players we were getting closer to them but in fact the gulf has widened, they have invested wisely and moved on, we it seems have gone backwards a long way backwards, probably because we over achieved last season without realising it.
I won’t jump on the sack MM bandwagon as i believe he as done a fair job although i get sick of some of his responses and reluctance to change and admit he got it wrong,
But at the end of the day i am a 47 year old Wolves and England fan so i should be used to disappointment.Good luck to our neighbours they have got it right and we have a long long way to go.
Agree with most of what was said. However, I must take issue with the idea that we don’t need to get a new striker. The only time anyone uses his head in the penalty are is when Collins or Craddock come up for a corner, where are the strikers when you need them? I am still of the opinion that we need Bully scouting for a hungry, talented young striker of his mould, there must be some out there in the wasteland that is non-league!
As for the January sales (sorry, transfer window), let’s spend some money on the following:
Defence: Autoroute monitors - so they can locate the forwards when passing
Midfield: Blinkers - so they can only look forward rather than back
Strikers: A smaller barn door to practice there shooting and a trampoline so they can practice jumping to high balls
Manager: An atlas with Ireland and Sunderland deleted.
A fantastic Blog, proper comments from a proper fan. I was envious watching Albion, lets face it they are the best footballing side in the division and they cap their splendid build play with goals!
Wolves have gone backwards this season, its similar to the Hoddle era, it is a mess created by MM. I dont think its the players to a certain degree although the likes of M Gray, Collins, Henry, Stephen Ward who is useless and the strikers are not cutting the mustard. MM style of play is alot more cautious this season, what happended to the gung ho from last season, I would rather us wine games 4-3 then turgid 1-0 as at least fans will be excited. At the moment we are clinging on to the top 8 spot but by the time we play leicester we maybe mid table. The Board will not tolerate this and I am sure by the time January comes MM will be relieved of his duties. I hope Morgan can persuade Paul Ince to take over, he will instill passion and committment from these same set of players and I think they will respond to it. Would Ince take it after been overlooked by Moxey… who knows but what we do know is that Morgan and Ince are good mates, both fanatical football fans and both where their hearts on their sleeves.
McCarthy you have done well last season but you are very limited this season and your time is up, so I hope the board sack you and I hope that Paul Ince takes over.
I heard last night the reason Kightly isnt playing is that he is on his way to the Prem in Jan & the club don’t want to risk injuring him? We can’t keep using him as the sole reason we are playing crap
Good blog but agree it has a flaw in so much that MM has lost p;ot completely
Get rid now please
I couldn’t agree more with you points!!! i think most fans would like to see the pasion and pace we had last season… MM seems to have replaced these players with more “experienced” players and lost alot of the spark..
As fans, you can forgive a young player who has come up from the ranks who makes mistakes, in fact you will get behind them… can’t do the same with players brought in for a season…
Need to have a change, come on MM mix it up a bit…
What frustate me more than anything with McCarthy is his stubborness.
We have a winger on the bench who hasn’t played a full game Jarvis. Remember he was heralded as better than McIndoe and as quick as Kightly
We have a foward who to his playing on the left wing, who can hold the ball up yet cannot get past full backs. Ward plays his heart out but he is not a winger. Play him up front.
Big George is of to the African nations in a few weeks time. So MM signs Gibson on Loan. So does he start blending him into the George’s role, no he plays him out of position on the wing??!!
We have a different front two every other match. I don’t think Eastwood is an out and out striker. He needs to be given a free roaming role where he can drift in and out. The system we play doesn’t allow this.
Either McCarthy sees a completely different picture on the training field or he is extremely stuborn.
all we need to do is concetrate on the game not other matches and they need to work harder we can make it 2 the premier the seoson gd luck lad u can do it …….
Pin ups calendars, celebrity dinners, website dedicated to fuelling the merchandising machine, wealthy owner, huge customer base… if we were a retail chain, we’d probably be the best retail chain in the world.
football just seems so far down on the list of priorities. times fast running out mick
what annoys me, is that people like me have been saying for weeks that mm is getting things wrong & people have been jumping down our throats,if we beat leicester on saturday they will think things are ok again but it won’t be.i saw the albion game in hammersmith & when they scored the third goal, they went for the fourth, instead of trying not to concede, this is one of many differences between mowbray & mm.
steve (13) you are spot on with the new training methods
SOMETHING DIFFERENT is needed. Try out ideas. If we stay the same then there’s no chance of us going up anyway.
Elliot and Freddy for a guaranteed six games and our life will be sweet.
Or we could kidnap Miller and Phillips from Tesco’s
We do not need any new strikers, the problem lies in midfield. We need players who can support the front two in the penalty area and weigh in with a few goals.MM can say what he likes but the fact remains we have not scored in our last 5 away games which is a truly disgraceful record. The style of play is boring and we will never attract the missing thousands back to Molineux if this continues. It is not cheap going to matches and the club have a duty to entertain otherwise season ticket holders will not renew next season.
24. Spot on. Until a few weeks ago anytime any posted something negative about MM we were told how negative we were and that Mick would get things right.
Now a few more are starting to see the light that this guy won’t get us anywhere.
Hopefully Morgan has realised this as well and will take the necessary action.
mark davies and mick have fell out !,he has no chance of playing and will prob go on loan to get first team football.
what about a new song next home game ??? THERES ONLY 1 KEVEIN KEEGAN
Lee (23)- Exactly, totally agree.
Wot no football?
Good blog Nathan. I have to agree that watching the wolves is watching one of the most boring teams in the league. I no we are still in a decent position but i would rather see us play like we did last year. A high tempo to our game. Watching wolves v Birmingham last year was one the best performances i have seen since our promotion season. Ok i no we lost but the footy was great. This season its so boring! No pace no tempo no creativity.
Im stil behind Mick 100% and i think hes a fantastic manager but we defo need some pace flair in the team and for us to stop being so rigid! I hate the albion but they are a quality side and good watch!…….
Good blog much of which I agree with. I can’t believe the negative tactics at the moment. Fortune favours the brave.
Q? Why isn’t Gibson taking corners and then Jay would be in the box when the ball comes in.
Q? Why can’t Mick see Elliot is average at best and too small to win anything in the air.
Q? Why have we bought Eastwood and Jarvis and not given them a run.
Q? Why is nobody running with the ball and pressing the other team. Play forward to feet with some urgency, get men and the ball in the box. Get some crosses in. It isn’t rocket science.
Q? MM why do you sound like a prophet of doom at your press conferences.
Why Why Why??? Too many poor performances have caught up with us and we don’t seem to have the appetite at present to change it.
C’mon you Wolves get a grip.
The solution is McCarthy out and take his band of useless players like Steven Ward with him-how much more C**P do we have to put up with. Ince please!!
Nathan, nice to see you have woken up at last from your sleep and realised whay many have been saying for months. Welcome back to the world of reality!
IT WOUND ME UP WHEN MM BLAMED US FOR NOT HELPING WOLVES IN GAMES??!!! am i missing the point or are they supposed to entertain and inspire us into song??? we then chant how great they are and MM and how we`ll win the league!! oh what newyear joy we could have if only mick would pull his head from up his arse!! HE was the muppet who said he was happy with this squad and we`d be in the top 2???!, we`ll were still waiting mick and time waits for no man, so if i was you i`d think long and hard before you enter the january last chance saloon door`s, one slip and your career could be over and the chance of a korea may have been your best one! your only as good as your last game in football and from my season ticket veiw we`re very average!
On a lighter note I think our problems have been solved !! The Wolves Ladies side won their last match 20 - 0 !! How about drafting in a couple of the ladies to show our forwards how it’s done !!
Please - no abuse !!! It is just for a laugh !!
Well done to all those who have contributed to Nathans article.
Amongst this lot of comments which, are all in the same vein, are factual and real.
How MM cannot see what 90% of the fans can then we have no chance with MM of going anywhere.
I have said so many times he has lost the plot. Totally lost the plot!!!
I haven’t heard anything about this lad from Colchester
Only Steve Morgan knows! Is MM the only one to blame for no quality signings during the summer? Why did MM let Craddock go to Stoke? Did he expect a young central defender, like Mancienne, Gabbidon, Cahill or Ridgewell, but Morgan and Moxey failed to deliver anyone?
We don’t know. So it’s wrong to say MM should be fired. But, given the lack of progress, it is time for Morgan to step up and 1) tell us again he believes in MM and give him the wherewithal to succeed, or 2) get rid of him. SOMETHING needs to change!
Isnt it fun being a Wolves fan, who else moans as much? Think some of us need to get a reality check. At the start of last season we would all have taken staying in the Chumpionship. Mick bought players to fill the squad and to get us through, some of those have been moved on and some still remain (they wouldnt have signed for 12mths would they?)He made some good signings too and we OVER achieved and ended up in the Play-Offs. This year the Play-offs, and not top two, is still our best hope. The fact that MM came out at the start of the season and said we want top two (ill advised) and the stupid bookies made us favourites has started to make us think we are better than we are. This is a poor league, and we are an average team with average players. MM has been unfortunate that some of his signings have been injured since the start, i.e Jarvis and some have not coped with the step up and change of surroundings i.e Freddy. MM has also signed more average players rather than higher quality ones, but that has to be down to the fact we have a squad of younger players on limited contracts who might just have there noses pushed out if we started splashing the cash again on ‘Star’ players. I would use the remainder of the season to get back that enthusiasim and excitment back again by doing what we did last year and blooding the kids. We havent hit the heights of last year at all yet and the Molineux moaners are just waiting to start the booing. Get realistic, we are not good enough, get behind the team and let them play without the pressure from the stands and maybe we might get some of last years spark back. Cmon me babees.
George Elokobi - Dob: 1986-01-31

Club: Colchester (No 16)
Starts: 17
Position: Defender, left centre or left back

Wolves’ rhetoric and performance are way out of sync! Steve Morgan said his ultimate aim was to establish Wolves in the Prem, and it would be good for them to gain promotion this season.
What happened? Either 1) Mick McCarthy said he needed several new good players and he was denied them; in which case, January is the time for Morgan and Moxey to perform. Or 2) McCarthy said he could lose McIndoe and Craddock and still gain promotion with just a few lower-league signings; in which case, he should be sacked.

I think the excuses have to stop. We look dreadful at the moment and something definetly needs to change before its too late.
Only disagree with one comment - “otherwise come January it may well be too late and the team in the Tesco’s colours might well be out of reach”. Forget it, they’re over the hill and gone. Can’t believe anyone thinks we’re gonna do a Sunderland in the 2nd half of the season.
-If we replace Mick now, will the new manager have time to assess the squad and make the right buys in January. I think not so leave Mick in charge.
-Don’t however allow Mick any money to spend as he’ll buy Irish, Sunderland or players he won’t then play. Make him soldier on with what he’s got or play some kids.
-As soon as we can’t mathematically reach the play-off sack him then.
-If we reach the play-offs sack him once they’re over, promoted or not so the new manager has time throughout the Summer to sort it out.
For Hoddle read Twaddle. For McCarthy read Muddle cus thats what we’re doing - muddling along.
Baggie here (not to gloat, the seasons far from over),
Just observations, in many ways MM reminds me very much of Brian Robson, not prepared to admit errors. Intransigent, focussed upon physical side of game to the detriment of skill.
I would however admit MM shows his passion far more readily than Robbo.
It does somewhat pain me to say this, but, you are only potentially 3 months from changing it around, astute buys / loans in January allied to your “better” existing players and you could kick on. The platform you have within 4 points of 3rd place is more than acceptable.
We were giving our chairman right grief less than 18months ago, he bit the bullet Robbo went a new manager with a strategy / philosiphy was installed and we are going in the right direction, why can’t wolves do the same?? Absolutely no reason. I wouldn’t advocate sacking MM but your board have to back him in the market or you will stay a championship top half club.
As a wise man once said if you do tomorrow what you did today, why expect a change.
Any road up, good luck for rest of season, finish 2nd to us and we can enjoy 4 west mids clubs in prem, 1st time since …….????
cpt-wolves 43, i KNOW we look dreadful and it hurts me to watch it like it does everyone else, but we have to look at the wider picture, i think the worst thing that happened for us was making the play-offs last year, it somehow meant we were certs for top two this year, never going to happen, but just meant increased expectation and pressure. Other clubs are in better positions with better squads. But as you know, the leagues that poor this year anyone can get in the top six. Who knows with injured players back available,(and used), and a few more incomings January we might secure one of the spots for ourselves and if we did get up…well £30 million wouldnt even touch the side(s)!!!
Great Blog an I agree.
Lets see what Mick can do with the Money. The first time in his career that MM has had money.
Somebody aluded to what great buys Dave jones made. Teh same Dave Jones who lost at relegated Gillingham and made an average Wolves team rubbish and then was sacked.
Kennedy, Miller, Rea, Cameron, all of which were crocked and would not get in this side.
I agree, we are lacking a little quality at present and I think and hope that will arrive in Jan,
In Mick I trust.

Well said. The season isn’t completely over, we just need to make a few minor changes. Who knows, a good run might see us grab a top 2 place with the Baggies, but it could be difficult to get past Watford.
Reading bewtween the lines Nathan, you are saying ‘not good enough, change the Manager”. Agreed. We love MM and we saw him as our saviour but time has shown that he is at best a Championship Manager. No harm in that, lots of players will never play in the Prem, they are not good enough, same rule applies to Managers. Just imaging if West Brom go up as Champions having scored 120 goals and we fluke it via the play-offs having managed 50. We could look forward to one miserable season of heartbreak and back to Hull. The successful sides build the nucleus of a Prem team in the Championship and I see absolutely no sign of that. None. We could not beat Derby.

I think it is great the way you rubbish the only team and manager to get to the premier league.
I didn’t mention Kennedy by the way and as for crocks, well we scored 105 goals the season we went up. What would we pay for that now.
Clearly you have very much lower expectations and are happy in the championship?
Is your name Jez Moxey?
we have no class simple as! We have nothing at all! Only 3 or 4 quality plkayers a t tops! Get rid of mick and get Jol in. He will bring the good days back to molieneux

Don’t try and twist my blog!
I think anybody who regularly reads my thoughts on here, knows that I am a big MM fan and I certainly don’t want him to leave.
I don’t think we will solved anything by binning him and starting from scratch.
We had some great football last season and we can have it again. I spoke last week about the fact that we probably are building the nucleus of a team for the Premiership, albeit a small nucleus.
I still remain positive about the remainder of the season, I just think we need to ring the changes now before it is too late.
Baggie here in peace. C’mon! You’re not that far of the pace. A couple of bad results for us and we’ll be right where you are. And 2 or 3 straight wins for you and you’ll be sitting pretty and gloating over us. Can’t believe you’re calling for MM’s head already. This division is mad - just mad - anything could happen!
I agree with 32 - Give Jarvis a proper chance to show what he can do. Even Rosa could and should have been given a chance to show what he could bring to the team. Also would like to see Eastwood have a 6 game run in the team…
As a WBA fan I hope you do sort it out and get promotion along with Albion.
All the childish p*ss taking aside, both teams should be in the Premiership, along with Blues and Villa. They are all big clubs, and have more history than some of the curent premiership teams.
Mobray’s attacking football is good to watch, and is getting results. He has made some cracking buys from Europe, so come on lads, sort it out.
Excellent blog Nathan and I share your views. I believe that Wolves lack of goals is mostly to do with a very cautious and defensively minded manager. Evidently the reason we did not bring Freddie on Saturday was that Mick wanted to protect the draw. So there you go - we want to protect a draw against the team bottom of the league while Albion are scoring 4 against one of the best teams in the division.
With regard to the strikers I can tell you that Bothroyd and Keogh average a goal every 5 games in their career, Elliott averages a goal every 4 games and Eastwood averages 40%. When you are struggling for goals it is pretty obvious therefore who should be the first choice. Bully’s average was 54% - Billy Sharpe averages 54% also.
But the current problem is about creativity as well as goalscoring. Without Kightly we have no one with attacking instincts. Henry and Olifinjana both do what they do well but as a partnership they are defensive more than creative and are probably a bigger reason for our low goals against record than the back four. Gibson looks good but on the wing does not get into the game. Ward works hard but creates nothing. Jarvis, Davies, Gleeson and Rosa would all make the team more attacking - but McCarthy’s idea of a good midfield player is one that protects the defence.
I don’t think giving McCarthy money to spend in January will help. Giving him the money to buy Eastwood and Jarvis was a waste of time cause they haven’t been given enough chances to play.
So in my mind the only way to save this season is to get Paul Ince before some other top team does.
Fantastic Blog which covers the full spectrum of what us loyal lot are feeling at the moment.
I understand from more than one source that Mark Davies has fallen out of favour because of his off the field antics and nothing more, which to be honest if true saddens me greatly as I believe he could have been one of the holes we need plugging.
I am all for the kids to get a chance and yes please give Freddy a run in the side, if only he had played half the games that the clueless S Ward has played!
MM needs to sort him self out,
if your looking at this MM try it out!!
I could do the job better!! now pack your bags and off
my team would be
Hennesy Gk
Little RB
Cradock CB
C Henry CB
Foley LB
Kigthly RW or Javis if not fit
Oli CM
Rosa CM
Davies LW
Eastwood ST
Keogh ST
Up the wolves!!
albion playing flowing football, good to watch. Wolves grinding out workmanlike draws, boring and predictable. Breaks my heart as a wolves fan. Not entirely sure that MM will ever give us anyhting other than graft and endeavour, once teams match that there is no plan B. Albion gloating at the moment, see how things pan out once they get a few injuries and a bad run
Nathan, we agree. I love MM but he is not good enough. We are going backwards. Been a supporter for 50 years and will die one but every season I hope we will rise from the ashes of 1960 and every year we fail. This just feels like the same old same. Even though we never got back as a real top team I loved to go watch Waggy, Doog, Hibbet, Bailey, Richrds, Bully and that jewel Peter Knowles. They never won much apart from two league cups and the lower divisions but they were a joy to watch. I only get to see the odd video these days but the posts I read on here speak of boring football that does not belong in Molineux.
Wolves forever.
Sorry but I do feel we will solve everything by binning him. Then again I have thought like that for forty years and we appoint another proven failure. Ince has never failed, try him. Man. City binned their manager and are now fourth in the prem. And I liked Pearce too.
The problem has been from the end of last season. I think even the casual attendee of a game could see the team had bonded and has a few exciting atributes but lacked experience in one or two areas.
We were informed of the sale finally being on the table from first Souness (who would have fired Moxey in nanoseconds)and them Morgan. His deal, 10 quid and 30M invested.
Moxey told the world, upped the season ticket prices and everyone bought.
As we have found, instead of the players we needed to bolster the team we were forced into loans and make weights. Morgan has NOT spent any money. Money spent came from the sale of players before the season started. After he took control no monies have been spent. PERIOD.
MM has a poor make weight squad as he hasn’t had a budget to acquire any players. January probably the same. Who should shoulder the blame? Moxey and Morgan, just as Moxey and Hayward before..hey note the common denominator? Moxey, thats where the obvious problem lies. If he goes then I am sure things will brighten up..
52. Nathan Lloyd Explain please your comment spoke last week about the fact that we probably are building the nucleus of a team for the Premiership, albeit a small nucleus.
How can 2.5 players be the nucleas for a team of 11 (Kights , Hennesey and Freddy when he can play
Godfather….
It was a slightly tongue in cheek in comment. We don’t have enough quality currently to build a premiership side. Foley, Hennessy, Kights and Freddy would probably be all we could muster.
Godfather, I hope my comment hasn’t offended you so much that in the morning I find a horse’s head on my pillow!

Don’t worry Natham you are a Wolves fan, FAMILY, no horse head in your bed… Ha Ha.. Seriously though I think we are in big trouble and by Jan can see us in bottom half fighting of relegation unless mighty muppet stops being soooo PIG HEADED….
when most of the albion team were playing in the prem not so long ago where were our guys? the irish league stoke reserves and the conference thats where. by all the laws of common sense they should have p*ssed over us three weeks ago but they didnt did they? you cut your coat according to your cloth. remember last season when we played all that “sexy” football against blues and the baggies WE LOST
65. The difference is the football being served up at Wolves matches this season is an embarrasment. Last year we all accepted that we were building a team from scratch and were doing exceptionally well. This year we are playing poor, defensive, boring, football no matter who are opponents are. It’s rubbish. I’ve seen girls teams playing better football. Fact
