Martin O’Neill has urged Villa to ignore their recent home woes and create away day history at Sunderland tomorrow.
Villa attempt to match four successive away wins for the first time since John Gregory’s Class of 1998 at the Stadium of Light.
“I hear we were going for our best run for nine years after four successive wins,” said O’Neill.
“Now’s the time to try to push on. We’ve been knocked back and it’s up to us to try to get back.
“Our away form has been unbelievable, and as good as anyone outside the top four.
“And up until last weekend, we were the equal top scorers in the Premier League. That was up against teams who had scored heavily such as Everton and Portsmouth, who both hit seven in games.”
Villa have hit nine, conceding one in three trips.
