We had a glimpse on Wednesday into what it will be like the day Mick McCarthy leaves Wolves for pastures new, writes Wolves blogger Nathan Lloyd.
It all went a little bit crazy. I was disappointed, but not in the least bit surprise to read some of the negative comments left by readers on here regarding the story of MM being offered a new position as manager of the South Korean national squad.
Like myself, I’m guessing that the majority of Wolves fans thought that Mick was on his way, especially when Wolves didn’t immediately come out to rebuke the story.
I am, and hopefully many other Wolves fans should be, chuffed to bits that Mick has chosen to stay in the drizzly climate of Wolverhampton rather than plump for the alleged double-your-money offer from the Far East.
Just think back to when Twoddle was in charge and what a mess he left this club in.
Magic Mick arrived and immediately set about shipping out the big-name charlies and those past their best before date and replaced them with young, hungry players with a sprinkling of defensive maturity in Breen.
He has got the dressing room back on his side and his no-nonsense approach has instilled some much need passion back into the players.
We all feared the worst last season. We hardly had enough players to put out a starting XI when McCarthy started the job after Twoddle’s selfishly timed pre-season resignation.
But with some clever acquisitions like Kites and Henry, last season was a joy to watch and certainly gave us more entertainment than Taylor, McGhee, Lee or Twoddle could muster in their time at the club.
We probably over achieved by reaching the play-offs and it was inevitable that the expectation levels would be raised for this season.
So far we haven’t played the free flowing football as frequently as last season, but we have battled hard for three points in many games and are in a strong league position as the January transfer window approaches.
As I wrote in my last blog, the entertainment factor has been missing from a lot of our football of late.
But if we can keep picking up results, then perhaps we can bring the ‘X’ factor to the club when the transfer window opens.
There were some ridiculous comments made on the story on Wednesday.
MM was offered an international manager’s job that at best would be part-time and with a whopping salary to boot.
And instead he has chosen to work full-time to try and achieve something at Wolves; doesn’t that say something about the bloke?
Genuine Wolves fans who gleefully wrote on here that Mick should be on his way, or how dare he be offered another job need to really consider their views.
Everyone is allowed their opinion and mine is no more right, wrong or important than any other fan.
However, I do like to think that as the Wolves blog writer I should try and offer a balanced opinion.
Mick McCarthy has been our best manager since the days of Graham Turner.
It’ll be an extremely sad day for the majority of Wolves fans when he does leave.
So can we stop going on about Ince, Bull, Allardyce or McClaren taking over, etc?
We already have a good man at the helm of our club and although patience has never been a strong quality in some of our fans, I think it’s time we got 100 per cent behind Mick, because if he read some of the views on here on Wednesday, he might well be tempted when the next job offer comes along.
Wolves fans, what do you think? Have your say below

Disgusting comments from so called fans. He was offered a job for pity’s sake, he wasn’t looking for one. And he stayed to complete what he has started.
Some fans were quick to say get another manager in. Yes, some of the football lately has been boring, but we aint losing many.
A bit of tweaking come January and we will be fine.
Keep the faith, UP THE WOLVES.
I think madness sums up Wednesday quite well.
A mere sniff of Mick taking another job and the usual Incey rubbish comes out of the woodwork.
GET A GRIP!
Whats wrong with fans having their opinioon?
Get Mick out.
Do you want the job Nathan? You speak a lot of sense!
I’m constantly fed up with the negative comments. You’ve got to be prepared to show more patience than less than one and a half seasons or the club will be tainted and no-one in their right mind would want to work for our boo boys. We’re in a throw away society and that’s how some people view managers and players. We’d make a lot more progress..a lot quicker…if the players felt more loyalty and support. The silences and bitching on the terraces just creates tension and they can’t be at their best. Rock on Mick..
Great manager we are lucky to have him,he will make wolves great if he is left alone to do the job.So all the knockers let him get on with it.
Well said Mr Lloyd, as a life long Wolves supporter it sometimes dismays me the negativity of some of our so called fans. l wish they would get behind the team and the manager, these are very exiting times, we have a very good young team and a excellent manager, so get behind them and cheer them on to bigger and greater things. Come on the Wolves!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well said Novawolf! He has had a season and a half and the many fickle Wolves fans should take a breath before they boo the young team.
Even if he doesn’t go up this season, we should give him another season at the helm at least!
Good blog. Spot on.
How many of the morons who posted negative comments on various websites would still be in their jobs today if they had been offered twice as much money.
We moan about money-grabbers at our club, well now we have someone who is showing a bit of loyalty and what do people do? Moan about him receiving a job offer.
I think the vast majority of the crowd on Saturday will let Mick know that we are glad he stayed.
No one knew if he was just offered the job or he applied for it. I think it’s reasonable to assume the latter and to experience the disappointment that would invoke.
It is good that MM wants to stay and he is the best guy for us and I believe he will take us up but perhaps not this year.
We all have got to be more grown up when we are defeated and to carry on giving the club our active and vocal support. If it is true that Wolves fans were ‘booing’ the team at Barnsley they ought to be banned. I can imagine how welcome that would be to the barnsley fans and players.
lets get behind the team. When defeated lets just hold back the disappointment and carry on being positive. Mick and the team will win through.
very narrow minded cpt, fine he was offered a job, but you either say yes or no, you dont wait until the press get wind of it. He clearly knew the korean fa were going to announce this and when they did, he had a huge bargaining tool to go back to jez, and say this is the story.. what you going to do about it… well they have upped his salary i presume and mick is on the pigs back…. well the honeymoon is now well and truly over!!! get us promoted mick and then we can get a premiership manager, we all know the premiership record he has with Sunderland!!!
Hi Nathan, hope you are well, great blog.
I think MMs record of getting teams promoted speaks for itself, plus he has already been successful at International level, and i seem to remember him saying that he prefered the day to day of club football.
All clubs have a % of fickle fans, and all clubs have a % of fans who dislike the manager. It is upto the majority to drown them out.
Response to blog:
1. “Everyone is allowed their opinion and mine is no more right, wrong or important than any other fan.”
2. “However, I do like to think that as the Wolves blog writer I should try and offer a balanced opinion.”
3. “Mick McCarthy has been our best manager since the days of Graham Turner.”
Three comments that I would like to comment on!
1. That is quite right, it doesn’t matter if you are the ‘blog writer’ or if you post comments in big ‘BLOCK CAPITALS’ every one has a right to their say without being called an idiot or an Albion fan!
2. One of the most amazing things that I have ever read. Is the position of ‘Wolves blog writer ‘ an elected position, or did you apply for the job. What are the qualifications necessary for such an esteemed position?
3. What an earth did you base that on?
Poor old Dave Jones! The only manager to achieve promotion to the Premier League has been quickly forgotten!
Turner was a very good manager for the lower leagues but stayed far too long and McCarthy, One success at getting Sunderland out of this league, moderate success as an international manager, and useless in the premier league.
As for Hoddle or as you call him ‘Twaddle’ (is that the official blog writers term?). There have been managers that have done much worse than him. I believe his failure has been hyped up nearly as much as last years achievement.
If last years achievement was the best thing since ‘Turner’ why weren’t we lining the streets to celebrate with the team on an open top bus?
If the E&S are going to allow this sort of stuff to be written then you need to have a serious look in the mirror!
Also I was trying to work out where your ‘balanced’ views were?
Seems to read like you are 100% behind MM, who is your favorite and you can’t believe anybody should hold a different view!
Or have I read that wrong?
Stephen (10). Who says that Mick was in a position to immediately come out and say the story is tosh and that he is staying at the wolves?
I’m guessing that you are not a fan of the Wolves? You are not getting behind the team at all. He had diddly squat funds to spend when he got Sunderland up to the Premiership, so he didn’t really have a fighting chance.
He also took a mediocre Irish side to the latter stages of the World cup, beating Holland in the qualifiers.
I think Stephen taht you are in a minority. I will be singing my heart our on Saturday to back the team and the manager. Perhaps you should stay at home and watch the result coming in on Sky Sports?
abdonwolf, i for one am glad MM is staying as much as you are and everyone else is, and i must totally agree with your comments on 12+13!
Dave Jones football was exciting, i think i remember in the promotion season we scored over 50 goals at home alone (not even going to score that this season home or away!). Also as you said he got us promoted, surely that made his time here successful!
sorry nathan i normally agree with your blogs but this week you totally got it wrong!
as for the voice of the fans bit, then id like to know how this came about also, sure all of us would like to know how this is available for any fan!!
Please realise that a lot of the comments are from albion fans posing as wolves fans because they have nothing better to do.
Well said Nathan. What does some fans want a team struggling like Cardiff, Sheffield United and Southampton?
Wolves are in sixth place after the Barnsley defeat and this without getting any houses on fire. So what would they do if they are on song?
What would they write here if Wolves bought a certain James Beattie for 4 million or got old legs Robbie Fowler and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbank in their team?
We must all be happy where Wolves are and this with some young and talented players.
They say that MM goes for Irish lads. But who cares where they come from as long as they do the business.
Many teams in the Premier have players coming from all the corners of the globe.
So let MM carry on the good work he started and hopefully come next May be promoted to the Promised Land.
12.
Would rather read Nathan’s blog than anything you write. Before you get angry, as you said i’m entitled to my opinion.
abdonwolf (12&13).
Not you again?
Do you deliberately come onto here to be controversial?
Let me comment on your ridiculous comments:-
Nathan, the blog writer, is just a positive bloke. Unlike you. What is wrong in getting behind the manager and the team?
Twoddle (not Twaddle as you wrote) is a common term used for Glenn Hoddle. Have you ever read “A load of Bull”?
You wrote:-
2. One of the most amazing things that I have ever read. Is the position of ‘Wolves blog writer ‘ an elected position, or did you apply for the job. What are the qualifications necessary for such an esteemed position?
If this is one of the most amazing things you have read, you need to get out more. He is the Wolves blog writer, what’s wrong with him stating this?
Dave Jones did well with a big pot of money and getting us up to the Premiership was a huge achievement. But as you wrote yourself, everyone is allowed their opinion. And then you argued against yourself?
I think deep down you resent the fact that you don’t write the blog yourself. But if you did, you would be lynched. Everything you ever write is negative and argumentative.
When the story broke on Wednesday about Mick being offered an international job, some of the comments were ridiculous.
People like you really should be ignored, and I shouldn’t really rise to your bait. However, I enjoy Nathan’s blogs as do many people. We do not enjoy reading your daft rants. Grow up.
My vote is for Nathan’s blog over the mumbling buffoon abdonwolf.
Abdonwolf? Even his negative name speaks volumes.
I will never Abandon the Wolves, no matter who is in charge.
You need to try and find some happiness in your life.
Agreed with some of above, I have liekd MM style of football but bar 2 o3 3 games we have not looked very good this season!
He has made some very good buys( Kites, Keogh, Foley) but also has no imagination. There are players like Rosa,Glesson, Davies who should be given a chance but he sticks with players who should be dropped. Our defence has been good and our grit even better but we need to be more creative, when Kites doesnt play we look very very poor. I like S.Ward, Herny, Elliot but they are not creative enough.
i’ve heard nathan speak & he hasn’t got a local accent,he’s just a posh boy! can we have one of our own doing this blog?
Abdon wolf. you really are living on a different planet.
Lets cut to the quick, you obviously have your own agenda. So who do you want to manage our club and whicj players would you have us but in you ultra reallistic world?? Baring in mind your irrational dislike of the Irish.
Hence my previous comment about you appearing xenophobic. (notice my correction in spelling).
I wish he’d have gone off to South Korea. We are going nowhere with Mad Mick at the helm.
Abdnwolf you are a genius. Quite the most ridiculous stuff I’ve ever read on here - Dave Jones has done so well down at Cardiff with a similar blend of OAP’s to those down here.
(22)His accent probably is posh for someone from Rowley - hows that electricity install going?
Nathan has been hit by the same level of abuse I got a while back for asking ‘true’ Wolves fans to take a look at their attitude. I have only an example of the guy with the season ticket next to me. I honestly don’t think he gets any at home and doesn’t even answer his wife back, cos he spends 2 hours every saturday moaning. I prefer to support my club as to being a fan. It means there is always a touch of positivity about any performance.
I for one am please that MM is still here. He actually made me want to go to Molineux again after 18 months of Twoddle’s ugly draws.
22. Rowley Wolves
Posh? Born and bred in Wednesfield (born at New Cross). I’ve spent all my life in Wolverhampton apart from a few years living in Milton Keynes.
I’ve been going to the Wolves since the early Eighties and have missed about 2 home games in 5 years.
I’m hardly Posh. I may have lost some of my accent, but believe me I’m Wolves through and through.
Nathan writes well and he speaks sense but he misses the point. Take me, I am 54 years old, saw my first game when I was 3 and will die a Wolves nutcase. Get up every morning and check out E&S and all sorts of sites for Wolves news. I plan my life around listening to Wolves games and hate not being at the Mol. I wrote a so called ‘negative’ piece on Wednesday and I stand by it. MM is a great bloke and a solid manager but he is not going to take us to the promised land anymore than all the others over the past 20 years. It is not the owner that matters, it is the coach, we have not had an exceptional one in my lifetime and that is why we continue to under achieve. Brian Clough took crap clubs all the way, he was a coaching genious and what club he was at did not matter. MM is simply average and what we will remain is average. I was so angry at the team he put out at Barnsley that I over reacted and got negative, we all make mistakes and I wait to see if he has the sense and the guts to send out a team against Burnley that is a Wolves team. I miss Dave Wagstaffe out wide and Mike Baily bossing the middle and boy do we need a Doog in the middle!
We are told that the South Korean FA had whittled their shortlist for the vacant managers job down to McCarthy or houllier. I think we can therefore assume that both McCarthy and Houllier had already been interviewed for the job. Surely then, seeing that McCarthy was under contract to Wolves, Moxey/Morgan must have given permission to McCarthy to speak to the Koreans? This would indicate that previously they weren’t bothered if McCathy went or stayed. Why the change of mind on Tuesday then?
There is on the otherhand the possibility that McCarthy went behind the clubs back and applied for the job, and the first thing that Moxey and Morgan knew about the whole affair was on Wednesday. If this 2nd scenario is the true one, which I think it is, McCarthy was bang out of order and should have been sacked.
This whole affair leaves a lot of unanswered questions and a nasty taste in the mouth.
The words ‘treated like Mushrooms’ springs to mind.
Nathan gets it right again.I totally agree MM is the best manager since Graham Turner and i have enjoyed watching his team far more than i did watching Dave Jones overpaid superstars conceding an eleven point lead to our deadly rivals and before the DJ clan star harping on about what he did, just remember the £23 million quid he spent, the over inflated wages he dished out to get these has beens and looking at the bigger picture he kept telling us about.MM has turned this club around, we no longer have a dressing room full of big time charlies earning more in a year than we do in a lifetime and we can be proud of the effort and workrate of a club re- establishing itself after years of mismanagement.I don’t care what the albion fans think or the so called wolves fans questioning his signings, i for one am proud to be associated with what is happening at Wolves and the way we are going about it. If we have to stay in this division for a little longer it will still be better than returning to the dark days of MM predecessors.
19.
“People like you really should be ignored”
Why don’t you then, or is it that deep down you worry that I have a point?
Also, do you check everybody’s spelling or just mine?
Perhaps you should re-name yourself ‘Lexicon-wolf’
Can you explain to me why having an opinion that differs from yours leads you into making such vitriolic personal attacks?
22.
I am certainly not posh, but wouldn’t matter to me if Nathan was, what relevence does that have.
Abdonwolf, every week you enter into personal vitriolic attacks on Nathan’s blog, criticising every point out of what seems like bitterness. Maybe if you displayed some humility and made constructive comments you’d get favourable responses.
Don’t worry Nath, the vast majority of us think your blogs are excellently written and generally say what most level headed wolves fans are thinking.
30.
You’re a minority. Talking rubbish. I’m allowed to say that am I. You diagreed with Nathan, so presume that is allowed.
Nathan Lloyd criticises some Wolves fans lack of patience. Only one year in the last twenty plus in the top flight of English football and a club which was once one of the best in Europe a poor relation of Wigan, Fulham et al. Get real.
As a Walsall fan I still enjoy this blog as Nathan is honest and isn’t as blind as some wolves fans who seem to give the team 5 mins before they want to sack everyone from the chief exec down to the cleaner, abdonwolf is a prime example of this. It’s like a Saturday afternoon after the match on WM, when you lose and you all phone in moaning. 95% who moan don’t go to the matches.
If someone offered you a chance to double your money in a new job wouldn’t you listen?
You lot don’t need us Albion fans to wind you up.
You are doing a pretty good job of that yourselves.
I have been thinking about some of the replies that I get and most of the negative ones seem to go along the lines of:
1. Your not a real fan
2. You are always negative
3. My expectations are too high
I am so disappointed that the club that I have been watching for the last 35 years is now content with such mediocrity.
Let me take last season, most people agree that Matt Murray is a world class goalkeeper (Please note the positive) and that he probably gained us at least 15 points. Which ‘MM’ should we be most thankful for last seasons position? Also, the best thing for me about last season was our own youth team being thrust into the first team. He didn’t have much choice about it, and the likes of Hennessey, Gobern, Little, Jones and Davis made a huge impact and we all thought they gained huge experience and would be really up for the fight this season.
Then what happened when we had money to spend, you guessed it, the home grown players mostly disappear and in come MM’s preferred players who have been very average indeed this season and very fortunate. I don’t think it is just a coincidence that our youth team coach looked for pastures new!
Over the last 20 years our expectations as a club have diminished and if I like to keep mine high then that is just what I will do, likewise if you think that this Wolves is good enough then lets hope we keep the status quo and why not post under the name;
“letspretendweareabigclub_wolf”
Just got onto the blog - some of us do work you know!
I can’t believe what I an reading.
Just one question to abdonwolf.
Why are you a Wolves supporter?
The reason I ask, is that over the last few days you have rubbished the Manager, Management (garbage at the top, garbage at the bottom, I believe was your verdict) and you belittled the players for saying they were glad MM was staying. Now you are questioning the validity of the Wolves blogger.
I don’t believe you have opinions, you are just negative about everything that is written.
You really are the Victor Meldrew of Molineux.
There is a big difference to having an opinion and being opinionated - the latter applies to you.
When i recently met Nathan lloyd, (video blogs). He arrived in a chauffeur driven limo, was in hair and make-up for two hours, and before agreeing to particpating in the video issued a number of demands including:
A large bowl of only red Skittles.
Rose petals to be thrown in his path.
A night with a page three bird.
Imported cigars from columbia (rolled on the thighs of virgins).
Earl grey tea.
I was stupid enough to settle for free beer. Damn it!!
Although it back fired, Nathan was not specific about which paper he wanted the page three from, and ended up spending the night with Jeremy Clarkson, oops.
Honestly though, posh he is not, down to earth bloke who truly loves the Wolves.
Dont knock your own boys!!
Leave that to us!!!
Just read your long reply - it doesn’t change my opinion of you.
Plenty of Wolves fans feel the same about our lack of success,I’ve been watching them for forty years, but not everyone attacks everything in sight like you do.
abdonwolf, if all your comments were as well thought out and written as well as the above then I think people would take more kindly to the stuff you write.
We all want success at Wolves, but you never write about anything positive. Chris Evans was offered an assistant’s role at Bolton. He has served us well for nearly 20 years and certainly deserves a chance in the premiership.
I don’t doubt for a second that you are not a real fan, otherwise you wouldn’t take so much of your time to post comments on here.
It just seems you have a personal vendetta against Nathan the blog writer and have to disagree with everything he ever says.
That was a great last comment apart from the last bit: “letspretendweareabigclub_wolf”??????
We are a decent sized club, certainly bigger than a lot of the rubbish currently languishing at the foot of the Premiership.
Keep up the banter!
Remember last season when no one had any expectations and all fans got behind the team.. Look at what we acheived.. If we can re-create that atmosphere again and get ourselves promoted. Then unlike the Dave Jones team.. This team is younger and hungrier and can achieve far more. If the fans can match the effort of the team then we can do it.. STOP THE NEGATIVITY AND SCREAM FOR THE LADS !! Come on wolves..
Thought I would let you all know some of my positive thoughts:
I think we have 5 very good players in the team;
Hennessey
Foley
Olofijana
Kightly
Potter
I think our youth set up under Chris Evans is the one department of the club that is outstanding. There are some truly wonderful young footballers coming through! His departure is very worrying and he protected them from some very big fish. I fear that with is departure it will suffer. Strange to think that a premiership club can see his qualities but we overlooked them.
Abdon - great attempt at being positive, you nearly pulled it off too..
Just a word on the Blogg.
“Joy” as Mick stays..
I think Joy is slightly strong Nathan - apparently miffed may have been more accurate -
how about total apathy ?
Bewilderment ?
How about “oh well” ?
“Joy” - LOL !!
The thing about Nathan is that he is the ‘blog writer’
I have to aim my comments at him because he is the only one to aim at!
I believe that he represents the acceptable face of Wolverhampton Wanderers and he post very safe and comfy articles. We all know the type of stuff, ‘who is the best player/manager etc…’ He doesn’t have a balanced view, there are a lot of wolves fans that don’t rate MM it isn’t just me, but their view point is dismissed as madness!
I spend a large amount of time working in Newcastle, so I get talking with their fans and Sunderland supporters and I have to say that their threshold of acceptance is so much higher than ours. They want it as a club much more than we do. I wish we (as a set of fans) would be banging on doors and staging sit-ins like they do up there, I want our club to be great, I want to travel round Europe watching them, I don’t want average any more I want world class in old gold!
Don’t just take my word for it just take a look up the road at the Villa. They were an average team going nowhere until they got rid of Deadly Doug and put in a world class manager, they will reap the benefits 10 fold and they will be watching world class football in a couple of seasons.
Where will we be?
Happy Baggie (44)
How do you know that last season was or wasn’t a joy to watch??
Another daft comment.
Happy
How does your brother feel about being a Villa fan at the moment?
lets face it if MM manages to take us up we’ll be coming straight back down.
i don’t want to watch us get hammered every week in the prem
48!
There you have it in a nutshell!
Wolvehampton Wanderers official position!
Super Bob - ain’t we great.
Just a few points for my fellow Dingles to ponder on :-
1. “We’re third (was) and not yet playing well.” Do people think the nucleus of this team can play any better, cus Mick won’t drop them or play them ( S Ward ) in their natural positions.
2. Our defence isn’t brilliant. Its just theres 7 outfield defenders including Henry, George and S Ward and the opposition needs a bulldozer to get thru.
3. I agree. Lets reunite Sharp and Keogh. Ask the Blades how much we’d have to pay them to take Keogh off our hands. After all, strikers that never score are an expensive commodity.
4. Whats happened to all the youngsters that broke thru last season and helped get us to the play-offs. I’d rather have seen them get a full season under their belts this time around and settle for mid table than watch the current football.
48..Why not you did last time you were there…It sounds like you dingle inbreds are having a family fall out , BOING BOING
I would like to take the time to ask all negative Wolves Fans to be a little more patient. I know the footie this year hasn’t exactly set the world alight but we’ve been getting the results.
I,like many a Wolves fan, have been coming away from some matches thinking how have we not put 2 or 3 past them, why isn’t Eastwood in the team etc… And the only answer that I can come to is that Super Mick has a plan. We can’t afford to be buying players who would blow this league apart and even if we could it doesn’t always work, as experienced in the past.
Dave Jones’s style of football at the Molineux rarely filled me with Joy or entertained me but he did manage to get us promoted. The problem was that once we were up we were ill equiped to stay there. This time around I think Mick is looking more long term…
Can he turn Freddie into a Real Striker and not just a set piece poacher,
Can he get Keogh to start hitting the back of the net as well as being an inspiration to the team,
Will Foley continue to blossom and gain valuable experience from Breen/Craddock,
Will Jarvis fullfil his potential, CanM.Davies mature enough given time to replace Olofinjana next to an ever improving Henry.
The real answer to these questions will not be found in the next month or two but by the end of next season. I say this because I really don’t think Wolves are going to do it this year as they’re are still problems within the team that need resolving and I would much rather build something slowly that is sustainable rather than the boom and bust of previous years. So Please Guys and Girls lets get behind Mick and the Boys starting this Saturday and really show the Footballing world what a fantastic set of supporters we can be!!!
45.
Abdonwolf,
Only hope you have got to watch wolves in europe is on a pre season tour.
Top blog (again) Nathan, does what blogs are meant to do, and generates a debate
52.
I agree with some of the things you say, and there is nothing wrong with building slowly. However I would rather be building with a higher pedigree manager and management team.
I disagree about the football under Dave Jones. The football during the season that ended with us missing out to the baggies was outstanding up until the last 10 games. and we scored lots of goals too. The premier season could easily have been different Had Murray and Lescott played and if Jones had been backed better.
Everyone on here is behind the team it is just that peoples expectations differ!
It is always possible to turn a negative into a positive, but it does take effort and guile and ability. I wonder how much the powers that be within the club really want it? I hope they don’t just see our great club as a nice easy payout?
How many Wolverhampton people are running the club?
46 - that wasn’t the point raised - it was Joy that mick stays…
47 - I think he’s happy enough - but then they just beat the bluenoses and that will keep him going for a bit.
abdonwolf (45). Do you think we need a new blog writer? I like Nathan’s blogs and think he delivers balanced views.
You also say that he writes very safe and comfy articles and then contradict this in the very next sentance!
He writes about his opinions. You sound like you should be supporting a club that can deliver your over ambitious demands. Wolves might well get there eventually, but MM is building with youth for the long-term future of the club, not a quick spend £10m Dave Jones promotion.
Abdonwolf a question for ya .. Who else out there is better than MM to take us forward at this moment in time when we are championship side ?? I wouldn’t disagree with anyone that if we were a prem club & in europe there’s better managers, but Abdonwolf.. WE AINT !! so we need the best manager that we can attract.. So (anyone can answer) who would you have as manager that we could realistically attract that is better than MM ?? Lets get behind the team lads !! is it too much to ask ?
what about Nathan as the next manager! then he could write the blog from the hot seat!
Ken, get a grip man. Is that your comment on Mick staying in charge? Some people are so sad.
56.
Sorry, not trying to be difficult but I don’t see where I contradict myself?
You seem to jump to so many conclusions about what I say. The Dave Jones thing is my response to Nathan’s opinion that MM and Turner are the best managers in recent history. Well I don’t agree with that. But don’t jump to the conclusion that I think Dave Jones was the best thing ever.
The facts are quite blatant though. Over the last 18 or so years the best squads we have put together have been expensive. Last year was the exception but it wasn’t as thread bare as some people like to make out.
Nathan is firmly entrenched with the ‘in Mick we trust’ camp, so when he calls people who don’t trust him ‘a little bit crazy’, I don’t notice much balance in that, and I also get the impression that what is good for the goose is not appreciated by the gander!
57.
As I have said on here before I would very much have liked to see Paul Jewell in charge but he has gone to Darby now.
Another name that has been mentioned is Ince, but I think it is too early to tell yet.
But, if things don’t work out in Newcastle then I would really like to see Allardyce in charge. I would be very happy to build slowly with him. However, we need to spend some money somewhere along the line if we want to be any sort of force!
Very true Nath.
Some Wolves fans like the idea of sacking the gaffer
Big mistake.
Short memories for those who did!
