Who’s bright idea were lunchtime kick offs? It’s now the time of year when Friday nights are taken over by Christmas parties all over the city, and I can guarantee there will be a few sore heads at Villa Park on Saturday, including my own, writes Villa blogger Gregg Williams.
The question is will Villa cure my hangover with a vital 3 points?
It is another huge game, and we really need a win to strengthen our push for a European place.
Portsmouth are a good side and like us they are chasing a UEFA cup spot this season.
I feel we have to beat our direct competitors at home if we want to finish above them, and I’m sure Martin O’Neill will have told the players just how important this match is to the club.
John Carew has picked up a lot of praise this week following his performance against Arsenal, and I think it’s fully deserved.
He worked extremely hard and caused their defence a lot of problems.
A fully fit ‘Big John’ is the perfect foil for Gabby Agbonlahor and I really hope he can stay injury free for the next few months at least.
For me they can be like the Heskey and Owen partnership which has worked so well in the past for Liverpool and England.
Gabby said this week how much he is learning from Carew and hopefully if they can play together week in week out they will be able to develop a good understanding and improve their link up play.

They’ll never be as good as Withe and Shaw as a partnership but they could come very close.
We’ve been waiting for a big raw boned centre forward for years, now we’ve finally got him.
He’s getting the ammunition from the left in ashley young, now all we need is a right einger to whip balls in and a right back and we might even get fourth place, let alone a place in the UEFA
