Fashion students from Stafford College will have their garments displayed alongside collections from some of the world’s top designers when they take-up an invitation to exhibit at Clotheshow Live at the National Exhibition Centre.
The students have been spending every spare moment creating a collection of 10 garments. The clothes will be worn by professional models as they strut their stuff on the catwalk at the event from tomorrow.
Samantha Lovell, course leader for fashion at the college, said:“The garments were selected after a competition open to all our National Diploma and Higher National Diploma Fashion students.
“We challenged them to submit designs inspired by the theme the Poetry of Luxury and then a panel of judges within the faculty chose complete outfits which would be made up and exhibited on the catwalk.”
The result is a hand-crafted collection combining traditional and modern techniques and materials. The garments are sculpted from fine cashmere and wools, twisting in edgy slithers of metallic and dry shine, as well as obscure pattern and textural surfaces.
“Clotheshow Live is the biggest fashion and beauty exhibition in the world and it is a breathtaking opportunity for these students to have that kind of platform at the start of their careers,” added Samantha.
“It’s great to see young, local designers up there with some of the biggest names in fashion.”
The Clotheshow Live event runs until December 12.
