Doubts over survival of school

computer-room.jpgDoubts are rising over the future of Pensnett High School after Dudley education bosses refused to deny claims it was to close.

It is thought the decision to axe the school in Tiled House Lane will feature in an announcement surrounding an anticipated £200 million cash injection for Dudley through the national Building Schools for The Future initiative.

The announcement is set to take place tomorrow.

Although Dudley Council will not reveal any details of the overhaul ahead of a series of briefings, it is expected they will also unveil plans for a ‘’super school”. The academy-type school would be funded through a grant of around £200 million.

Sources close to borough’s education department say Pensnett High could be converted into an “alternative vocational centre”.

But if the school were set to close it is believed pupils currently at the school would complete their secondary education at the site first.
