Walsall warned of cup backlash

richardmoney3.jpgManager Richard Money has warned his Walsall to beware of a “wounded” Northampton as they go in search of an FA Cup jackpot tomorrow.

The Saddlers make the return visit to Sixfields just seven days after picking up a hard-fought 2-0 win, with Money predicting a “hostile” reception.

He thinks Northampton will pose a physical threat and that they will have “festered” on last week’s League One defeat.

“We’re going to meet a wounded, very determined opponent and that will make it a very difficult cup tie for us,” he said.

“If you put yourself in their dressing room and try and picture how they have been feeling this week, then there is only one way that they are going to react.

“I have already said that it is very difficult to go to the same place two weeks in a row – especially when they are at the same level as you – and win two matches. But that is what we’ve got to do.”

Walsall report a clean bill of health, with striker Michael Ricketts set to brush off a slight knock to take his place alongside Tommy Mooney.

Money added: “They are a very dangerous side – we saw that last week. Stuart Gray will want them to play, but if you look at what they have, they are a big, physical side and they caused us a fair few problems from corners and set pieces.”
