It’s a soldier’s life for Louis

grundy2.jpgWolves manager Mick McCarthy today paid tribute to a club community coach who is leaving Molineux to join the army.

Louis Grundy, 18, who joined Wolves from school, has signed up for life as a soldier and is about to undergo 31 weeks of gruelling training to prepare him for his new career.

The teenager, of Wolverhampton Road, Walsall, is heading to Winchester on Monday to start his training period, which will end in seven months time with a posting at a regiment most in need of bolstering.

He joined Wolves after leaving Shire Oak School in Walsall Wood, gaining FA coaching qualifications in his first year before becoming a coach for four to 21-year olds in his second.

He said: “I’ve had a great time as a community coach and I’m sad to be leaving - it does pull at the heart strings a little because I love football, but I’m so excited about the challenge.

McCarthy presented Louis with a special shirt with his name on it.

Thousands of fantastic holidays to choose from!
