Walsall pair up for awards

wd2084072walsall-v-wrexham.jpgRichard Money and Clayton Ince have been hailed for their “pivotal role” in turning round Walsall’s season round - after the pair were nominated for the manager and player of the month awards.

The Saddlers’ surge up League One has been recognised by the Football League with Ince and Money on a shortlist of four for both awards - formal recognition for a month that has seen Saddlers go unbeaten.

Money will battle Huddersfield boss Andy Ritchie, Nottingham Forest’s Colin Calderwood and Leyton Orient chief Martin Ling for the manager of the month award after masterminding Walsall’s recovery from a poor start to the season.

And clean sheet king Ince is up against forwards Adam Boyd of Leyton Orient, Nottingham Forest’s Nathan Tyson and Nicky Forster of Brighton after conceding just once in five games in November.

The award winners will be announced at mid-day on Monday - and midfielder Darren Wrack is backing the claims of the pair.”It’s great news for both of them and absolutely deserved for their efforts,” he said.

“You look at some of the other names in the frame and the gaffer and Clayton have done as much as anyone this month. I think they do deserve to win the awards,” he said.

“It is good recognition for the club and whenever someone gets nominated for one of these awards it means that the team as a whole is doing well too.

“The nominations just go to show that other people are starting to take notice too. It is nice recognition for us all.”
