Sweeney tipped to star

SweeneyTeenage star Mark Bradley today tipped on-loan Peter Sweeney to bring ‘a new dimension’ to Walsall’s League One challenge.

Sweeney made an impressive debut onSaturday as Bradley opened the scoring in the Saddlers’ 2-0 win at Northampton.

And the 19-year-old midfielder reckons former Millwall man Sweeney, on loan from Stoke, has already shown his quality.

Bradley said: “Peter has a good touch and he’s brought a lot to us, as we’ve seen in training. He took that into the game.

“I think he can bring another dimension to us. He’s not really a runner in terms of going at the full-backs, but he comes inside and finds those little holes to play people in and get people into the game.

“He’s also got a great cross on him, so hopefully that will be great for the front men.”Bradley took his goalscoring tally for the season to three when he struck at Sixfields before substitute Ishmel Demontagnac sealed the win with his own third goal of the campaign.

Bradley admitted the former youth team colleagues were now locked in a good-natured goalscoring race.

The Welsh under-21 international, who laid on Demontagnac’s goal, said: “It was a great move and a great finish by ‘Ish’. There’s a bit of competition between us now.

“He’s been doing very well and hopefully he can keep that up. I think he’s maturing. He’s got great ability - he just needs to keep his head, because it’s all about the mental approach with Ish. He has all the ability.”
