Wolves duo in fitness fight

wd2133850wolves-v-qpr-10-g.jpgWolves duo Michael Kightly and Jay Bothroyd are facing a race against time to overcome their Black Country derby injuries in time to face Colchester on Wednesday.

Manager Mick McCarthy today hailed his Wolves players for closing the derby gap which cost them a promotion chance last season.

But yesterday’s goalless draw at The Hawthorns came at a cost with winger Kightly and striker Bothroyd now battling to recover in time to face the Us at Molineux.

Kightly limped off with an ankle strain and was followed by Bothroyd, who suffered a dead leg. Both are now doubts for Wednesday.

Kightly said: “I tried to run it off for five minutes but it was quite painful and I couldn’t carry on.

“I was absolutely gutted to have to come off but I’d have been more upset if I had to miss games because I’d made things worse by staying on.

“Now I’m just hoping for a quick recovery.”

Colchester is going to be a difficult game. They’re going to come looking for a point so we’re going to need our flair players as it might take a moment of magic to break the deadlock.

I agree with you but we shouldn’t rush him to play if he is injured…

They will have about 12 fans with them… Its a long trip on a wedsday for them… I think we will get a 2-0 victory without kites and 3-0 if he plays…

if we’d have added to the squad like we wanted too before the start of the season we wouldn’t have a problem with these players being injured.
    Hope they get fit soon

Jarvis to shine! Although he wasn’t on the bench Sunday possibly a little niggle?

To gain promotion we cant stop winning if we pick up 2 injuries, we need the strength in depth.

I hope we have enough if these 2 are out!

Let’s hope Jarvis comes in and takes his chance. Kights put yer feet up and relax son, you need a game or two off. Bothroyd injured, so what?

A great performance from the lads on sunday against a good Albion side who will be there or thereabouts for the automatic promotion places at the end of the season . We appear , however , to be running on a very small squad and with both Jay and Kites doubtful for wednesday who do we have to fill in ? I cannot believe that Gobern is still out , so does he really want to play for us ?? and only one month ago MM was threatening to unleash Jarvis on the Championship and where is he ? Hopefully Mark Davies will be given a chance soon because I believe that he is probably the best midfielder at Molineux and should be ready for a run in the 1st team soon . Stephen Gleeson also got a man of the match award for the ROI Under 21’s last week and should also come into the reckoning fairly soon .
Keep going lads….onwards and upwards . Wolves forever .

It could have been worse … they could have been injured before the Baggies game. Time for Jarvis, Eastwood and Elliot to shine and do their bit. Should be plenty good enough to beat Colchester.

What I don’t understand is how could Bothroyd get a dead leg after 2 weeks of rest and fitness training? Tells me he’s not fully fit yet …
