A 70-year-old woman who was badly injured when deliberately knocked to the ground by young yobs on bikes has spoken publicly for the first time since her ordeal.
Barbara West, from Cannock, has also released a picture showing the extent of her injuries..
The mother-of-seven is now too frightened to go out alone and has been forced to leave her home. But she has spoken out to try and bring the three teenagers responsible to justice.
Mrs West is still recovering from the attack in a specialist rehab unit in Great Wyrley, more than two weeks after she was attacked on November 9.
The pensioner, who was born and raised in Bridgtown, was walking home after returning from a shopping trip in Cannock at about 3.30pm.
Three youths on bikes rode towards her. Mrs West said: “I never thought anything of it but then I heard one of them say ‘let’s get her’ and I was on the floor in the gutter.They whirled me round like a spinning top and then they rode off. I recognised their blazers from Blake Valley Technology College.”
Mrs West added: “I don’t want to go back home now and it has upset me because I keep crying a lot.”
A couple in a car stopped to help Mrs West and an ambulance was called. She suffered facial injuries.
Her daughter Beverley, who lives in Bond Way, Hednesford, said: “These youths need to be found and stopped because they need help if they can do that to someone. The problem is they think it’s just a laugh but it’s the effect that lasts a lot longer.”

What the hell is happening to the world? I feel physically sick to think anyone could ever dream of doing this to a lovely old lady.
I hope she manages to get over this awful awful thing that has happened. My thoughts are with her.It makes me feel ashamed that this could happen. Locking them up is not good enough punishment. Give them what they gave!

The kids of today have no respect for anyone not even their own parents.What chance does anyone else have, this poor woman lives in fear of going out now because of the scum of the earth that roam our streets.They ought to have a good kicking and see how that like it. Low life.
If they’re caught they will not get any sort of punishment that would deter them or others from doing something similar again. I hope someone else catches up with them first and gives them a good hiding before leaving them lying on the floor waiting for an ambulance!

One is tempted to sentence them to eighty lashes each - but I dare say the ‘human rights’ brigade would have something to say about that.

Total scum who have done this, if these yobs were wearing college blazers then the college should get involved in finding them.every college i know have CCTV narrow it down to every pupil who came on a bike that day, who are friends and who live in the same area.
lets all hope her family get to them before the pc loony human rights police get there,an eye for an eye and all there teeth.
Makes my blood boil that scum like these kids think it’s “sport” to run down an elderly lady. It was one of the reasons i moved to Ireland, a wise choice, we may have problems here but thank God theres no chavs (only in Dublin)they have no respect for anyone not even themselves. Bring back the birch, then when these little yobs are caught, they can feel the pain they inflict on others.
Lack of the cane, discipline and punishment is what is causing this problem, bring it back and allow cops to clip round the ear too.

Perhaps it’s time fo all self respecting parents to get together and “reclaim” the streets from these mindless yobs. the police don’t , won’t or can’t do anything to stop them so lets see how they like parents “ganging ” up on them.

As a serving Prison Officer, I see this SCUM everyday.They walk around the wings bragging about their crimes and what ‘Big men’ they are ! i was born and bred in chadsmoor and i also went to blake school those 3 lads r scum and when they find them they should recieve the same treatment they gave out and it should be done in public. get well soon mrs west
