Brierley Hill SC A edged into a three point lead at the top of the Premier Division, thanks to a 5-0 maximum at home to Norton Social A with Eliott Bastable having a 58 break, while their closest rivals, Baggeridge Social A, had to settle for a 4-1 victory at home to Pockets SC.
Dave Whale, Adam Davies, Ryan Evans and Mark Jeffries all won for Baggeridge, but Richard Evans lost to Gary Smith who has won all of his frames since he made his debut six weeks ago.
Harts Hill Social won all five frames on the tables of Brierley Hill SC B to occupy third place, six points behind Baggeridge, and Brandhall Labour posted their best result of the season with Rob Howen, John Williams and Darrell Payne combining to win 3-2 at Dibdale SC A.
There was no change at the top of the division 1, with the joint leaders both winning 3-2. Kingswinford Cons A beat Amblecote Institute B 3-2 thanks to Robin Hall, Paul Marsh and Ivor Jones, with Rob Pargeter and Graham Holdnall replying.
Stourbridge Institute B beat Kingswinford SC 3-2 after Nick Aston and Simon Tyler gave Stourbridge a flying start. Thomas Male and John Byng brought the scores level at 2-2 before the reliable Harry Jones won the decider for the Institute, handing Kevin Bytheway his first defeat.
In third place, Kinver Constitutional B moved within a point of the top two with a hard-fought 4-1 success against Baggeridge Social B. Norman Jennings, John Rees, Arnold Tromans and Colin Stevens-Wood, who has most wins in the division, all won well contested frames after John Fellows had begun the match well for Baggeridge.
Brierley Hill SC C’s five-match winning sequence ended with a 4-1 defeat at Amblecote RBL B.
Amblecote’s A team, who were early season leaders, rediscovered their form with a 3-2 win at Langley Bowling Club.
After going 2-0 down at Kingswinford RBL, Netherton Liberals’ Nigel Davenport, Paul Bowen and Andy Barnett turned the match around in one of their best results.
Division 2 runaway leaders, Amblecote Institute D had to struggle to overcome their C team 3-2. Colin Lewis and Andrew and Stephen Guildford won, but Wayne Biggs and Sam Harrison took a frame each for the C team, who share third place, 13 points adrift of their club colleagues.
Stourbridge Institute C, in second place, looked to have a chance of closing the gap to less than 10 points but had to settle for a 3-2 win against Amblecote’s E team for whom Martin Davies and Pat Willis did well to win.
Kinver Constitutional C share third place. Frank Golding and Steve and Rob Jones combined to defeat Kingswinford Cons B 3-2, while Pensnett Libs A beat Kingswinford’s C team by the same score, with Ian Morris, Vic Southan and Mick Hughes grinding out a result.
