Hednesford prepare for tomorrow’s home clash against Lincoln United having missed out on striker target Neil Ross.
Pitmen boss Phil Starbuck, who has allowed forward Lindon Dovey to rejoin Shifnal on a month’s loan, had targeted the Ilkeston attacker to bolster his strikeforce.
But Ross has decided to join Buxton.
Assistant boss Mark Patterson said: “He has been offered an exceptional deal by Buxton.”
Starbuck waits on Tom Marshall, who has calf and ankle injuries, but Reece Styche (broken foot) has suffered a setback after breaking down in training on Tuesday.
Steve Palmer, who has a broken bone in his foot, should be ready for Tuesday’s Birmingham Senior Cup home clash with Wolves.
Hednesford return to Keys Park looking to build on last week’s 3-1 win at Kendal.
“It’s nice to be back at home – hopefully we can follow it with another win because it was an encouraging performance,” added Patterson.
“We’re a good footballing side, but sometimes at this level you have to battle and that’s what we did.”
