Palmer set for Willenhall return

Willenhall Town FCWillenhall boss Dean Edwards is considering a move to take Hednesford midfielder Steve Palmer back to Noose Lane as player-coach.

The former Pitmen skipper is still trying to reach full fitness after breaking a bone in his foot. But Edwards is hopeful he can put together a package to lure the son of former Wolves full-back Geoff to drop down a level.

“Steve isn’t match-fit but he’s getting to the stage of his career where he needs to look after himself and his future and I want to see what his thoughts are on this,” said the Reds boss.

“Having him, Mark Briggs and Marlon Walters would give us a formidable midfield.”

Edwards is also considering bringing back Walters as he seeks his first win in charge of the Reds at home to Aylesbury tomorrow. Walters has been out for two weeks after dislocating his knee.

Willenhall have also signed attacking midfielder Scott Stephenson from Romulus.
