A trouble hotspot play area in Kidderminster, which was closed because of vandalism and anti-social behaviour by yobs, could be sold to help pay for new civic offices.
The play area in East Street, Kidderminster, was closed after complaints from people living nearby following a review of open space land by Wyre Forest District Council in 2002.
Members of the council’s cabinet were expected to meet tonight to decide whether to give officials the go-ahead to dispose of the land.
Discussions are set to be held with the Wyre Forest Community Housing Group about whether the site could be used for two low-cost homes for rent.
Officials in a report to councillors have said that people living nearby support the sell-off scheme.
Councillors are now being asked to declare the land surplus to requirements and to give officers the go-ahead to agree terms for its disposal. Members want to see council staff based at one new civic complex near Crossley Retail Park in Kidderminster.
