Final plans have been released showing what Stafford’s new £75 million St George’s Park development will look like.
Developers say the mammoth project will be “the largest regeneration project ever seen in the town”.
They predict the building project will take up to three years to complete but will create around 1,000 jobs for the area.
Plans for the 27-acre site, the former St George’s Hospital, involve restoring the grade II listed building, which dates back to 1815, to its former glory.
Pritchard Group plc today revealed plans and artists’ impressions of how the listed building will shape up.
Called St George’s Court, it will house stylish apartments with their own gym and meeting rooms.
There will also be ‘live-work’ units to cater for architects, graphic/interior designers and other professionals wanting to have a work base at home.
Pritchard Group spokeswoman Sara Pritchard said the development company had been listening to what people wanted from the new complex.
She said: “One thing that is always asked for with apartments, which is normally unobtainable, is storage. Because we have two large basements, storage will be available to a number of the apartments that require it, such as people down-sizing.
“We have made provision for such requests in our designs. This, together with the grandeur of the renovated existing building and being set in parkland just within a short walk from the town centre, makes the development the best of both worlds.” Within the overall St George’s Park development, Crooked Bridge Court will provide a variety of housing, including town homes, apartments and affordable housing.

Be nice if someone in the high seats realised yes development is nice but how about housing that people can damn well afford for godsake.
The houses being built in Stafford currently are all 4/5 bed..all well over priced and out of the range of normal people living in the area..and they wonder why they stand empty!
