Villa keeper Scott Carson will win his first competitive England cap against Croatia.
Steve McClaren has dropped Paul Robinson for the crunch clash with Croatia at Wembley.
Carson’s Villa team-mate Gareth Barry is also included but there is no pace in the starting XI for David Beckham.
Forkmer Wolves star Joleon Lescott starts in central defence alongside Sol Campbell.
Team: Carson, Richards, Lescot, Campbell, Bridge, Wright-Phillips, Barry, Lampard, Gerrard, Cole, Crouch.

look everyone! lescott STILL playing for england! just like we all said years ago! makes u proud doesnt it!
yea and them lot down the road thinking curtis “cant even get in villa side” davies was a future england star,
reminds of when robbie keane came through and them lot thought lee hughes would be a miles better player…………
wonder who came out on top on that one!!
i know which one i would have if ever got the choice
lescott all the way
shows you how guilable albion fans are doesnt it
fair play to Mclaren, yes i said it! Crouch is the only alternative upfront with all the injuries we’ve got. with Barry sitting it’ll give lampard and gerrard chance to break forward. I do honestly think this will work tonight!
Post 2. Not that proud, we sold em both.
Fair enough - Lescott, keane (err, that it..), all the players that don’t play for you are pretty good… is there a theme here ?
Just think, this time next year you can all say how you gave kightly his break - when he’s playing for someone else.
Well done.
1 - yes you must be sooooo proud.
I take it thats the end of the “Lescott for England” garbage now.
so glad he got his debut. What a muppet
