Former Wolves striker Mel Eves today resigned as boss of Willenhall Town after a clash with his business commitments.
Eves has had to miss games and training sessions this season because of work and believes he can’t devote his full attention to the job at Noose Lane.
Eves leaves the Lockmen in 14th place in British Gas Business League Division One Midlands after a run of nine league games without a win, although five have ended in draws.
During just over 18 months in charge Eves helped Willenhall lift the Birmingham Senior Cup for the first time in their history and led them to the play-off final last season where they missed out on promotion to Bromsgrove.
Eves is proud of his achievements but today said: “I have decided to resign as manager of Willenhall Town.
“I have had to miss games and training sessions for the first time this season due to business commitments and it is in the best interests of the club that they go forward with someone who can devote 100 per cent time and commitment to the position.
“I’ve discussed it with the chairman Paul Garner and he understands the situation.
“I would like to thank everyone who has given me the chance to manage the club and bring success with winning the Birmingham Senior Cup for the first time in the club’s history and to achieve the play-off final last season against the odds of everything that was happening off the pitch.
“I would like to wish everyone at the club continued success.”
Coach Joe O’Connor is expected to take charge of tonight’s home clash with leaders Leamington where Sean Platt could make his debut after returning to Willenhall from Halesowen.

At last the chance for me to progress and show my management skills on a bigger scale, where can i apply, i think i’d be the perfect candidate what with my succesful spell as a 7 a side manager. Throughout my reign i never shy’d away from tough decisions, sacking players who dared to drink before matches and always having the bottle to phone players up and tell them they weren’t playing, yes i think i’d do well especially with my recent scoring run.
I’ve led Shrewsbury to third in the First Division playing FM 2008 for just two hours a week since its release.
Would that stand me in good stead???

i can do better i have managed to take the saddlers to the prem in just two seasons on FM2008, miracles do happen!
About time, the 6-0 thrashing on Saturday was a disgrace.
Did he jump or was he pushed???
