Villa blog: Blues stir derby row

villacrest.jpgHere we go again, another derby weekend. I see that the Blues hierarchy have been trying to stir things up in the media in what seems to be a desperate attempt to sell the remaining tickets for the game, writes Villa blogger Gregg Williams.

I have to say I’m in disbelief over the lack of interest in the game from the Blues faithful, fair enough the game is on Sky, but even so it will be a sad state of affairs if the game isn’t a sell out.

The Villa fans are proud of the integrity shown by the clubs new owners, and find the whole ‘pigs in mud’ argument highly amusing.

I doubt it will make any difference on the pitch, which is where the real battle needs to be won, but it has provided a little extra debate among rival supporters before the big match.

I for one have been very impressed with General Krulak and I’m glad to have him on board.

It’s hard to be too confident before the game, despite our decent start to the season. It’s a derby and anything can happen on the day.

I can’t afford the extortionate ticket price being charged so I’ll be watching the game at home.

If its anything like previous derbies I’ll be spending most of the game pacing around the living room barely able to watch!

I predict a close game, which will be won or lost based on big moments and mistakes made by either defence.

Here’s hoping for a good game, and may the best team win. Come on you Lions!

Come on it’s not that big a game. THE game is at the Hawthorns in 2 weeks time.

at least it is a ‘local’ derby malvern wolf, in fact villa vs wba is more of a local derby than wba vs wolves. the game on sunday is a big game for the fans but in the big picture over the whole season its just 3 points. it will probably be a tight game with a few bouts of ‘handbags’ thrown in for good measure, heres to a villa win and 22 players ending the game.

Garry. The wolves v wba local derby dates back into the last century. I’m afraid you are stuck with Birmingham City pal. West Bromwich is part of the Black Country, not Birmingham.

Wolverhampton is not in the Black Country its in South Staffordshire.

Sandylane - when do you think the Villa vs FC Bongo game dates back to? Er, same century my old son. And let’s not go saying Wolverhampton’s in the Black Country wben everyone knows it’s not. Doesn’t West Bromwich Albion have a brum postcode?

See- you’re wrong, wrong and wrong! :)
