Former England striker Michael Ricketts today made a shock return to Walsall – seven years after leaving the club.
The Birmingham-born forward has rejoined his first club on a three-month loan from Oldham, for whom he scored against Walsall in September.
The move brings Ricketts’ career full circle after he represented England and moved for transfer fees totalling more than £4m during his time away.
The 28-year-old is expected to go straight into the side to face Cheltenham tomorrow.
Ricketts learned his trade at Walsall and made 90 first team appearances for the club and bagged 15 goals before leaving for Bolton.
The initial fee was £400,000 but add-ons are believed to have taken the .` income to over £700,000.
